The Loft Reviews

The place was outstanding, the old feel to the place, everybody was so relaxed, loved everything about it, the owners were so helpful and very kind at every point, I dont understand when I read some of the negative reviews on this place, as they seem very picky, Ive stayed at lots of places and the whole point of staying here is its rustic old and its part of its charm, so why search for perfection, yes there is is one bathroom And a shower room in with the hot tub, but its part of your stay and its what you make it, torches provided to walk through the rooms at night to get to the toilet, again great and all part of the charm at your stay, so embrace it, this is what made it all the experience and unique part of staying in a beautiful large barn . me my family two dogs and 82 year old mother loved every minute of it !
Great stay, responsive owners. Relaxing stay in a beautiful setting, the property has so much character and was perfect to escape society. However just a short journey into the local towns, or sheffield, or various country walks. Dogs on the property were very friendly. Definitely would recommend.
We had a great time, staff were very friendly, everywhere was clean and tidy. Loved the whole feel of the barn effect with the beams. It had everything we needed. Had a nice time in sauna and hot tub. Would definatley stay again x

Great space for a large group of friends or a big family hot tub and sauna were a real treat, and communication was great in the lead up to the visit. We really loved the place and will be back, we even managed a bbq between the rain and the farm dogs were great company for ours. A few niggles I was sure the advert said towels were included, but they weren't there and we only had one between us and it is the first stay I have ever had where there wasn't a toilet roll on arrival, we had to go shopping!

The accommodation was nice, the beams are a real test of memory though! The layout was a bit of an issue, as you have to walk through each bedroom to get to the next one, and the toilet so when the little one is asleep you have to creep and duck. The view was amazing, when you sit outside you just feel every bit of stress release, there is a small courtyard which leads onto a big field but this was out of use due to a horse and a foul being on there, this was lovely as they came over to see us, it would of been great if we could of used that field as there was not much room for the dogs and the little one to burn some energy off. The working dogs were lovely, they just like to bark a lot so we had our wake up call each day. Over all we had a nice time and the weather was great. The owners leave you to it, if you have an issue you can contact them.
Kathryn
The farm was lovely. The weather was clear but cold, and the number we were ringing and messaging was the house phone not the mobile, we rung the number shakes gave on their site. We just wanted the heating on from 4pm for the last 2 days but unfortunately they didn't get the message. Otherwise lovely place and people. Take treats for the dogs, they're adorable and I lost my border collie 5 weeks earlier but they brought me so much joy.
The main bedroom is lovely and very big and the bed is great. Very comfortable. However, there is a skylight window directly opposite which doesnt have a blind or curtain so at 4am wakey, wakey! Kitchen is fine and a nice room to sit in. The oven needs replacing though as the top part appears to work but at a very low heat. Took 30 minutes to cook a baguette normally 10. Bottom main oven doesnt work at all. No markings on the knobs or any instructions. All the crockery needs replacing too as it has chips on. Living room is a nice size but can be chilly and feels dark. The sofas are completely worn out and collapsed, definitely in need of replacing. No welcome pack with any details in about bins, when to put them out or where. Having some local info might be a nice touch with directions to local walking routes maybe? The Billiard table is positioned against a wall and is wonky and worn out. The skittles are so worn out and chewed that they dont stand up making the table unusable The hot tub is old, with some cracks in the laminate base but is actually really good with fantastic powerful jets. However, its inside a small shed and the cover is completely broken so that the only way to remove it to use the hot tub is to fold it back and then on to the floor. The problem is that it is then almost impossible to pick up and put back on the top due to the lack of access around the tub. Great hot tub, needs a new cover! The Sauna is brilliant. Lovely and clean and works great The farm itself is lovely and the cottage is situated with easy access. Its handy for your dog to wander around in a safe area and it can also access the field as well for a wee at night On the whole, albeit its nice enough for a few days I wouldnt want to stay for a week. It just feels a bit run down and not looked after. I think the owners would benefit from staying it it themselves for a couple of days to see it as a visitor does
We stayed for 4 nights over Christmas wow! The Loft is very homely and comfortable and we were all delighted to see that a real Christmas tree and decorations were there, thank you for this. We were a group of 3 adults and 4 children age between 6 and 10, and there was plenty of room for us all with all bedrooms being large and spacious. We cooked Christmas lunch and found almost everything we needed to do this, the only thing we were missing was a pair of scissors! The owners were both very helpful, introducing us to the two farm dogs, letting the children visit the horses in the stable and answering our questions for where to go for a walk beautiful countryside! We would highly recommend and would love to return in the summertime.
Thomas
Amazing place, great host, excellent facilities. Couldnt have asked for anything more. Well definitely be back.
Lovely stay here at the loft . ...... very comfortable and owners made us feel very welcome. Perfect location for us to avoid fireworks. There was just one thing that would help and that is coat hooks in the kitchen there was nowhere to hang our coats. Will definitely be staying again in the future.
Louise
We have just had a lovely stay at The Loft. The property is in a beautiful location on a working farm. The accommodation is set out well but would not be recommended for anyone with mobility issues. And there are very low beams. Worth leaving a lamp on at night in case you get up and forget this! The owners provide many things that are not always in a self catering property which was great toilet rolls, kitchen roll, washing up liquid etc. This was really appreciated. It is worth noting that there is a dishwasher although not listed in the features. The hot tub and sauna are a great addition to the property and the owner showed us how to use them just after our arrival. The dogs are just lovely and greet you every morning. They are obviously very used to the visitors and look expectant at breakfast time! If you really dont like dogs, this might not be the property for you! The only thing I would mention is that there are no mirrors in the bedrooms which makes getting ready quite difficult but this could be easily solved. However, this is the only fault I can find with the Loft. Highly recommended!
I would like to go again when I have a longer holiday.
Had a great time at The Loft with my family. Lovely and clean with very welcoming hosts. Loved the quirkiness of the layout and the dog welcome committee each morning. Lots to do and visit in the surrounding area. Miss having my morning coffee outside in the quiet taking in the view.
Sabrina
We were blown away by the outstanding view as we pulled up to the loft! It exceeding our expectations! Every morning, it felt like we were in the countryside of a foreign country it is that beautiful and peaceful! The loft itself was clean, accommodating and our pups loved all the space to run and explore. Suzanne and Andrew answered any questions we had and we just didnt want to leave! The stay really helped us unwind and take a break from our daily lives. I would strongly recommend and would love to come back. Most importantly, we want to say how loving and warm the owners dogs were to us all, it was a treat to wake up, open the door and be greeted by Twiggy. She was so motherly to our pups and being around the dogs really helped with some their socialisation! 5 star stay!! Thank you
Andrew
We all really enjoyed our stay, georgeous setting, lovely venue, lots to see and do. Good location for exploring Peak District on foot or by car.
Enjoyed a needed hot tub and sauna break in spacious accommodation in lovely surroundings. Everything you need is supplied. Slept very well in king sized bed. Felt very 'at home'. Peaceful farm location but not remote so makes a good base for nearby towns and sight seeing. Would book again for the Loft.
Sohail
Lovely place, helpful hosts. My daughter fell in love with the horses and dogs. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Thank you Andrew and Ross.
Steven
If there was a higher rating to give our stay at the Loft I would use it. We had an absolutely amazing time and we will most definitely be coming back. The place was amazing and everyone, including the the people that use Fox farm to keep there horses were really lovely and friendly to talk to. Steven Barker
Had the most amazing stay, couldn't have wanted anything more. Everything was thought of Would 100 stay again
We had a lovely time 3 night break at The Loft. The sauna, billiard table and hot tub were an excellent bonus. The dogs and horses were friendly and made our twin girls very happy. We have never stayed in such a spacious holiday let before. It was amazing. Yes, there are very low beams! As soon as you are used to them all is fine! Comfy beds, two fridges, powerful oven, lovely hot water. A gem of a place to stay!
What a fabulous 2 days here. The Loft made up for the rubbish weather. Sauna & Jacuzzi brilliant, everything you need for cooking, huge fridgefreezer an under counter fridge, bedrooms huge with comfy beds plenty of storage space. Just could do with mirror in each bedroom, apart from that its perfect
Lovely quirky converted barn. We enjoyed our stay. Easy access to property. very quiet and secluded spot. Fantastic sauna and hot tub which gave our stay extra comfort given the weather. Thank you. Points for improvements the cleanliness could be improved. spare bedding will really help particularly that the property was very cold the first night we arrived but improved afterwards. People have different preferences, but we would've liked being introduced to the property by the owner same or next day given they lived locally.
We had a lovely stay at the loft. Beautiful accommodation, welcoming committee of dogs and horses and spectacular scenery. Would highly recommend it.
The Loft was a lovely cottage. Comfortable beds and good facilities, all in a lovely rural setting. Although the owners were not around to greet us themselves on the day of arrival, the dogs on the farm were very friendly and visited us every day. Hot tub and sauna were an added bonus. Many thanks. X
Very comfortable and enjoyable stay we would definitely recommend and already have ! !!!
What a beautiful place, friendly hosts and a lovely loft to stay in!
Really great place to stay. Hot tub and sauna are a great way to relax. Lovely countryside setting. Ideal for animal doghorse lovers. Fantastic scenery bang outside the door. Beautiful walks close by. Friendly ownershost. Only thing to improve would be an extra bathroom required if you had a large party, as the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms are Accessed through the master. Oh and mind the low beams. Ha ha.
Caroline
We really enjoyed our stay in this location, there are plenty of walks around the area while also being a good base to get to many more places. We really enjoyed being there after lambing season as we got to see all the lambs running and jumping in the fields! The Loft itself is a nice cosy venue with pleasant owners. Although it is a working farm you were never disturbed or feeling as though you were in the way. We would definitely recommend this venue to others, just beware the low beams if you're tall! Really enjoyed the Bar Billiards table, so much so that we're really wanting to buy our own!
Sophie
We had an amazing stay, owners lovely, definitely feel refreshed after a week away! Owners left us too enjoy our holiday but always there if we needed anything. Would definitely return!
Great location. Owners very helpful. Hot tub and sauna good to relax in at the end of the day. Beautiful part of the world
Warren
Beautiful property, great hot tub and sauna. Only negative were the owners dogs, who wake you up in the morning with there barking, not super early but when your on holiday you want a lie in.also they are constantly hanging around the kitchen door wanting feeding and attention, great if your a dog owner but if not a bit too much
Lovely stay in picturesque surroundings. The cottage was as expected as we stayed there many years ago. The only real drawback, particularly at night, is the access to the bathroom being through the main bedroom. We were aware of this and it is made clear in the information listed about the cottage. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay in a beautiful countryside setting, thank you.
Amanda
The accommodation was absolutely excellent ! ! And the location was so peaceful...... the owner who lived on site made us feel so welcome and the hot tub and sauna were a lovely addition. Just one more thing as dog lovers the dogs on the farm were so lovely and friendly cant wait to come back!!!!
Rachal
Amazing weekend away. Stunning views and gorgeous stables. The hottub and sauna were a lovely relaxing touch.
Had the most amazing break cottage was beautiful and clean hot tub was brilliant
Mathew
Just the most amazing place, owner on site and his family were very friendly and helpful, great location for walkers and absolutely fantastic holiday for all.
Lovely location but qualitycare of the Loft let it down. Kids loved feeding the horses and being able to roam in the hills. The kitchen wasnt clean, splashback needed cleaning, dishes were left dirty in the dishwasher, only one dishwasher tablet, no dish cloth, no kitchen role, no hand wash....if going Make sure you take supplies. Jacuzzi lovely but looking at the mould whilst sitting in it wasnt that relaxing. Saying that, huge space, loads if room for kids to play and plenty of space to spread out!
Fantastic views and location
Lesley
Fantastic cottage experience
Amazing relaxing week spent in The Loft. It is a spacious comfortable characterful dog friendly property, with beautiful views and the added bonus of the hot tub, sauna and exclusive use of a gas BBQ. Its a bit away from the nearest convenience store so we were glad that we had arranged a supermarket delivery on our arrival. Sharing the one bathroom through interconnecting bedrooms proved challenging at times, especially with a sleeping infant, but it didnt spoil our break. Just something to be aware of. The local pub is a mile away and is closed on a Monday. Great local walks and despite the storms we successfully completed two of them. Andrew and Sue are very friendly relaxed and accommodating hosts. Thank you both for making us feel welcome and at home in your lovely property.
