Old Stable Reviews

Cannot fault this property, beautiful house and well maintained. We had everything we needed to enjoy the weekend with no stress and really appreciated the little touches such as the hamper. The property was spotless and had a very warm and cosy feel. Hot tub was great just a note to bring extra towels for hot tub! Private area but was 10 mins away from supermarkets which was handy, 45 min to Windermere, We had a really great time staying here and would love to return at a later date
We chose this property because it was advertised with everything we were looking for 4 generously sized bedrooms, all with ensuites open plan kitchen, dining and living space, meaning we could spend Christmas here and whether you were playing games at the table, cooking in the kitchen, or chilling on the sofa we were all together and with the bonus of the hot tub, which was enjoyed by all. The owners Helen and Mark were very helpful and accommodating allowing us early access to the property and ensuring we had everything we needed for our stay. Cannot recommend this property enough. Would happily stay here again.
Had a lovely stay at the Old Stable , very quiet and relaxed week. Mark gave us a few tips on things to see and do and Pubs to visit which was most welcome. Would highly recommend and we will return.

We had such a lovely stay here. The place was immaculate and had all the facilities and extras you would need for a great trip. It is perfect for a girls weekend away with a really warm large hot tub right by the front door and beautiful rooms with ensuites. We loved it!
Hanzala
Amazing cottage with a beautiful open plan kitchen living area and nice bedrooms. Exactly as shown on the website. One of the best cottages weve booked. The owners were absolutely lovely and helpful also. Will definitely be back.
What a beautiful stable we had the best time, made great memories with our family
What a fantastic property, we were blown away when we arrived. The property has been renovated to the highest specification, and is immaculate throughout. We had 4 adults and 2 children for our trip and there was plenty of space for all of us. There are 4 bedrooms, all ensuite, and all with TV's, which meant we could all go back to our rooms whenever we felt like it. The garden is secure, so we could let the kids play outside without worrying about them escaping, and it also backs onto a a farm field where we could see the sheep running around. The property is equipped with everything you could possibly need, and there are clear instructions on how to use everything. The owners, Helen and Mark were lovely too, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. The location was perfect for us too, close to the zoo, the steam train, and not too far from Windemere. Plenty of shops nearby too. We hope to see you again soon Helen and Mark, we will definitely be staying again.
Deborah

Amazing location and Property, pictures don't do it justice. We made some beautiful memories here would highly recommend it
An outstanding property. Our group was six adults and three children and we were all able to enjoy comfortable and spacious bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms. The owners were closeby and available if necessary. The Old Stable is a cresit to them. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend it.
Evangeline
Fabulous accommodation, with great location. Very clean and fresh, hot tub was perfect and got used plenty. House really had everything you could possibly need. On site parking was very handy! We will 100 be returning again soon.
Everything was lovely. Place was clean and very spacious. We enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend everyone.
Claire
WOW!!! This is the best property we have ever stayed in. The facilties are 5 star, the beds were very comfortable. The owner has thought of your every need and nothing is too much trouble. Whilst it felt homely, the modern appliances were soooo much better than home, so to have this level of luxury meant it felt a special break. Stayed as two families and because of the en suites, always had our own space and evey bedroom felt like the master bedroom, although the master was stunning!!! It is on main road but due to the electric gates, the garden was completely enclosed ensuring the childrens safety at all times, allowing us to relax. There are two beach areas close by for access to Morecambe Bay. We always drove off as we had small children and walking along road didn't seem the best idea. We felt Barrow had more to offer than Ulverston for kids but also 30 mins from Lake Windermere for a boat trip, mooch around and an ice cream. We would highly recommend this property.
Millie
We stayed at this property over the May bank holiday and we had a great time start to finish. The location was brilliant, it was quiet and peaceful but also not too far away from pubs, the beach and lake Windermere. The property was amazing. Modern decor and rooms, all clean and facilitating. The house was well equipped with appliances such as coffee machines, dishwasher etc and also towels, extra pillows and even shower items. The beds were really comfortable and spacious. Our favourite part of the trip was the hot tub, this is a great addition to the property and was very relaxing. Owners were really accommodating even leaving us some snacks and drinks for our trip. We had an amazing stay and will definitely be back!
We are so happy we found this property, as fantastic as the photos are that show the high standard of the finish truly do not do it justice. The property has been finished to an exceptionally high standard above and beyond what youd expect. Every room was comfortable, and fully functional! Our stay was truly faultless, the service from the owner was friendly, helpful and easy. They were both very friendly and welcoming. We had an amazing stay at the Old Stable and will be returning again in the future.
Nicola
The house was absolutely wonderful. The hot tub and patio is south facing and so gets gorgeous sun all afternoon. We had an absolutely fabulous weekend and the hosts were absolutely brilliant.
What can I say about this place other than WOW! !!! From the moment you arrive you are immersed in total luxury and comfort. The kitchen diner is something to behold with high quality finishes all around you and a lovely welcome basket of treats. The bedrooms are beautiful, all with en suite bathrooms and their own TVs. The hot tub directly outside the front door was ready to go on arrival at a wonderfully welcoming 40 degrees. The owners have spared no expense to make your holiday relaxing, comfortable and memorable. I would have no hesitation when booking this house and would definitely return in the future as it is simply the perfect place to stay, Thank You!!!!
Had a wonderful girls weekend at the Old Stable. Its a beautiful property and truly is a home away from home. Every detail is taken care of, we even discovered a cupboard full of games! The bed linen was absolutely divine, as was the underfloor heating! No expense has been spared on the fixtures, fittings and furniture. Were already planning on when we can go back. Weve stayed in lots of similar priced holiday homes and this was the nicest one by far. Great location with the best of both the sea and the Lake District and easy to find and ample parking. Oh and the hot tub was the icing on the cake!
Beverly
A stunning barn conversion Everywhere is clean and tidy with a well equipped kitchen. The beds are very comfortable with good quality bed linen and towels. It is a great base for exploring the Lake District area. The owners were very helpful but not intrusive. A well deserved 5 star perfect rating
Amazing place to stay. Everything was spot on and in such a beautiful setting. Thank you to Helen and Mark, we all had great fun!
Emmanuelle
We stayed at the old stable for 3 nights and it was amazing. Beautiful property and the owners didnt miss a thing. We couldnt have wished for a better place. Very clean, tidy and modern. Owners were very helpful and were there if we needed anything. Will definitely be booking to come back again. 1010 for everything, its just what we hoped for and more.
Gabriella
We stayed over New Years, the property is beautiful, facilities were incredible and we had a lovely visit! There is nothing negative to say, we honestly werent expecting it to be as lovely as it was. The owners have thought about every little detail, the kitchen is stocked well, the property is well and comfortably furnished and every bedroom having ensuites was a real positive for us! The property is a short distance from the Lake District, and there are plenty of pubs and shops locally. We went to the farmers for a meal, which is less than 5 minutes drive, it was superb!
Valerie
We loved our stay in this delightful property which was tastefully decorated furnished throughout to a high standard. The owners have thought of everything with those extra special touches that make you feel so welcome. So if you are looking for an exceptional property in a tranquil location where you want for nothing, then this is the place for you.
Gorgeous place with no expense spared on the facilities. Very welcoming in a lovely location. Feel privileged to be the first guests in this wonderful barn conversion. I could not find fault in this place and would very much go again as well as recommend highly to anyone looking.

South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 4 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 10 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 15 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 23 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Bowland Wild Boar Park - PR3 2QT
about 27 Miles
Head for the Bowland Wild Boar park and we don't think you will be disappointed.  A popular attraction in Preston there is so much to do for the whole family.  From picnics, walks and wildlife to experiencing feeding the animals you are sure to have a memorable day out.  Also popular is the kids tractor play area.  For rest and relaxation the cafe is ideal serving hot drinks and snacks with a lovely view over the pond and wildlife feeding station.  The Forest of Bowland has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 29 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
