About Chestergarth House

Set in the North Pennines AONB, with far-reaching views across the hills, this spacious stone-built retreat is the perfect place to unwind in an outstanding setting. Located on a working farm in the picturesque valley hamlet of Rookhope, Weardale, it offers plenty of private space for multigenerational families or groups of friends to truly relax.

The nearby market town of Stanhope (4 miles) is great for independent shopping, riverside walks and an open-air swimming pool. From here, you can also hop aboard the Weardale Railway for a scenic journey to Bishop Auckland (19 miles).

This part of County Durham is known for its spectacular waterfalls, including the mighty High Force (16 miles), which you can reach via two scenic routes, one of which includes a lovely woodland trail. Inside, the property is light, bright and tastefully furnished throughout.

The lounge is a calming space to return to after a day of sightseeing, with a sofa to unwind on in front of the Smart TV. The property’s social heart is the contemporary kitchen/diner, where the cooks in your group can prepare a feast on the eight-burner hob for everyone to enjoy around the large dining table.

The ground floor also features a fully accessible bedroom with Superking bed, which can be made up into twin beds on request. The room includes a wet room, a Smart TV and direct access to the patio in front of the property.

Upstairs, you’ll find three more bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities and Smart TVs. The first super-king-size bedroom comes with a bath and separate shower, as well as a table and chairs for relaxed in-room breakfasts.

If you have young children with you, they can sleep in the handy pull-out beds. Two other super-king-size bedrooms complete this floor, both can be made up as a twins if preferred, and one has a small table and chairs for your early morning coffee.

Go Ape Northumberland - NE48 1NT
about 19 Miles
Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.
