Pool Cottage Reviews

Lovely cottage with fantastic facilities. Great location. Robin was so helpful. We are already considering another visit. Dambusters pub was a good recommendation and great meal. Highly recommend Ole Ole in Lincoln for Tapas. Thanks for a stunning break
We have used this cottage several times, mainly during the colder winter months and whilst an unpopular time for some, we take advantage of the gorgeous log burner and the amazing hot tub! First set of logs supplied complimentary with additional logs available at an extremely reasonable price! Underfloor heating in the kitchen and bathroom make ones feet tingle with delight! The layout of the cottage is excellent but to note that for an older person the stairs as in an older cottage maybe a little steep but also bear in mind there is s sofa bed and accessible facilities downstairs. A modern fully equipped kitchen, a lovely conservatory which also takes you out to the pool area where there is a changing room and bathroom for use by the pool! So in contrast to all of those factors that make this cottage so cosy and welcoming, a little mad I know but the ladies take advantage of the swimming pool!!!!! Yes at outside temperatures of 2 and 3 degrees!!!!!! They say it is just mind over matter and reap the benefits of how the body reacts to the cold making it an invigorating and positive experience! Look up the Wim Hof method and all will become clear! Our host Robin absolutely cares! We had a welcome tray of delightful home baked chocolate brownies left with milk, fizz and spectacular fresh eggs from the chickens she keeps! The perfect host who is attentive and goes the extra mile to make things right! Simply spending a week or a weekend there is a real treat! We love it.

Lovely property, really cozy and comfortable. We loved the hot tub and owner living so close by was really handy. Robyn was quick to resolve any little issues we had. Rural location but only 15 mins from Lincoln. Pool would be fab in warmer weather. Thank you for a fab stay xxx

I was delighted to arrive to find the cottage decorated for Christmas, a sparkling decorated tree and fireplace made me feel very welcome, as a returning guest it was lovely to see that they had also remembered my preferences regarding the welcome goodies thank you. I have always been made to feel very welcome on my stays here.
Just back from a lovely break at pool cottage, everything was brilliant. Would definitely recommend and the owners were very helpful! Thank you
Tracey
Pool Cottage was delightfully charming just as described. The house was spotless and the beds comfortable. Freshly laid eggs, homemade brownies and milk left by the owner were a lovely touch. Will definitely return.
Great a couple of niggles were soon sorted by the owner in a matter of minutes! ! Had a fantastic time with some friends. Highly recommended. Kitchen has everything you would need and bathroom is amazing!!

Spent A Lovely Peaceful Weekend At This Cottage. My Wife and Son Loved Waking Up In The Morning And Strolling Around The Garden With All The Chickens. Place Was All Set Up Perfectly. Like A Home From Home With Comfortable Beds, Well Equipped Kitchen, Fresh Eggs and Milk left by the Owner, and The Brownies Were Lovely. Would Highly Recommend To Anyone Looking To Get Away For A Nice Chilled Break
Joanna
Very comfortable, warm and cosy cottage. It was the perfect base for us to explore lincolnshire. And after our days out walking, the hot tub and pool were great additions to come back to. We really enjoyed our stay.
Claire
On Arrival found a warm, cozy house, with Homemade Brownies, Fresh eggs and milk in fridge. Amazing destination, quiet, with host insight made life that much more comfortable. Lived my morning chat with chickens as I saved scraps for them. Arrived with gousto box so all meals sorted, and had a fabulous weekend. Hot tub was icing on the cake.
We had a really lovely stay at pool cottage, the house had everything and more provided, and the pool and hot tub were well used by us all! Robin made us feel very welcome and gave us lots of info about local attractions.
Everything about our stay was perfect! I cant offer enough praise for this holiday property, and am very excited to book again.
Oliver
Lovely character property in a tranquil location. Beds and bedding extremely comfortable. Fantastic pool and really appreciated the owners help with covering and uncovering, and her friendliness with the children.
Robin was an exceptional host and couldn't do enough to make our stay a pleasant one. Unfortunately, the neighbouring guests were found to be very unreasonable as they expected us to request use of the communally shared facilities such as the pool and felt that they should be given an invite to shared outdoor meals with our friends and immediate family. Although the accommodation was familyfriendly with a basketball court, bikes and a tennis court, the two neighbours who had hired the larger cottage were displeased with the bouncing of a basketball at dusk during the school holidays. In consequence, we took the children to local parks to play so as not to spend awkward moments around the neighbours. Once again thank you Robin for all that you did for us. You're an absolute superstar!
Pool Cottage is such an incredible, and majestic place to stay at and relax at. Whether it be resting on the side of the pool, getting a few laps in, sleeping in the comfortable beds, cooking up a succulent barbie sitting down in the lovely warm hot tubs or just sitting down watching the day go by. Second time there, this time staying for a week and it just flew by. Not enough praise can be given to the owner for how amenable she is and how much care and attention she gives to her guests. It makes my girlfriends world how much time Robin is able to spend with her youngest and even with the chickens. Would highly recommend that anyone looking at this to come and stay a while and enjoy this wonderful little slice of heaven.
Nice welcome hamper. Comfortable living accommodation, fantastic pool and hot tub. Owner very friendly and helpful. Beautiful location and surroundings.
During our stay everything was perfect. The owner was very polite and accommodating! The cottage was maintained and had everything you needed. Private hot tub and cleaned regularly nice additional. My son absolutely loved helping with the chickens and enjoyed the tennis area. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning!
Alison
This was our second stay at Pool Cottage and was thoroughly enjoyed by all! The house was warm and cosy with everything you would need for an enjoyable week. We used the gas BBQ on several occasions, which was fabulous. The hot tub was in a private location and was just wonderful to get into after a busy day sightseeing! It was a shame we couldnt use the pool like we did in the summer but it was just too cold!! Thanks to Robin for the fresh eggs, spring flowers, chocolate brownies and wine. I recommend Pool Cottage you will love it!!!
We had a great week staying at Pool cottage, this is the second time we have stayed there, it has everything you want, a real home from home and is only a few miles from Lincoln. The owner of the property is very friendly and available to contact if required.
I have two young children and we really enjoyed our stay. Its a lovely house with underfloor heating and a fire in the lounge which made it very cosy and warm. We even sat in the conservatory looking out into the garden for another peaceful coffee spot. The master bed is massive with comfy crisp bedding and easy to see into the kids room if needed. The shower is lovely, hot and powerful. The hot tub was great, easy to open and private. The pool we knew would be cold as its winter but it was great that we could still go in it for a challenge. The kids enjoyed the inflatable boat that Robin had provided, pretending they were on an adventure and staying out of the water. We even managed a game of tennis on the court. It was nice to meet the owner Robin and we enjoyed seeing her around and chatting with her. We would have been happy to share the garden with next door although there was no one in when we were there but it would be a great community feel. Robin let us collect and have the apples and feed the chickens too. We took bikes and there was a hose to wash them down and were stored safety round the back of the house. The area is quiet, flat and great for a spot of road biking. The foss way is a 10 min cycle away or if you have kids that can't go on the road yet you can park at the pub 5 min drive and access the foss way canal type of cycle path We loved Skellingthorpe woods to cycle round and stop at all the dens that had been built.
Jennifer
What a fantastic property! It can be rented in conjunction with the next door property the big splash or separately. There is a hot tub and pool which are fantastic . The owner Robin is lovely and allowed the children to feed the chickens each day. We were provided with fresh fresh eggs , milk and some yummy chocolate brownies . The garden and grounds are beautiful and well looked after . All rooms in the property are well equipped including the kitchen with plenty of dishes , pans and even an air fryer . There were ample towels for the house as well as towels for the pools and hot tubs . The property is located in a peaceful and quiet area yet only a short drive into the city on Lincoln . We throughly enjoyed our long weekend away and we are already discussing dates for our next visit .
What a wonderful place to stay! Everything you might need has been considered. A thoughtful owner made sure everything was as it should be and we would definitely return.
Our stay at this property was amazing. The owner was lovely and very generous. Baking brownies and providing fresh eggs and wine on arrival. We had one small problem with the hot tub fuse turning off but the owner was keen to get this sorted as soon as possible for us. The property was very clean and catered perfectly to our needs
We had such a lovely week at Pool Cottage. The cottage itself was lovely and had everything we needed. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The pool really made the holiday. We all used it every day, even in the rain. The kids loved the diving board. Hot tub was great as well. We played tennis every day too. The garden itself is also very pretty and the chickens were lovely. Robin was a lovely host. She made you feel very welcome and it was lovely to chat with her. The brownies she made went down a treat and she was kind enough to let us have the ingredients to bake more one day. Fresh eggs from the chickens and a bottle of wine were a nice touch as well. We have recommended it to friends who have also stayed and would definitely recommend it to others. Lincoln Castle and Cathedral were a nice day out, Burton Waters boat hire was good, and we had a good day at Skegness Fantasy Island. Lots more to do as well but nice to relax by the pool.
Andrew
We stayed at Pool Cottage in the summer 2022 after spending Easter in The Big Splash. Robin is an absolutely wonderful host and our children love her to bits. The property itself is very clean, cosy and perfect for family gatherings. The Hot Tub is private and a luxury added bonus. Our children vary in age from 185 and they were never bored. Gorgeous garden, lovely pool, chickens to collect eggs from, sports pitch for football, basketball, hockey, tennis etc, bikes to borrow and ride and much more. Theres so much to do here that you may never need to leave but if you do, theres lots to see and do in and around Lincoln. We knew at Easter that this would become a family favourite. Our daughter had made a firm friend in Robin and they write and stay in touch. Thank you for such a wonderful stay. We will most definitely be back again and again xxx
We had a lovely stay however there are a few issues we would like to raise Cold pool, advertised as heated between May and Sept. On arrival Friday it was cold and remained cold until Monday. The owner arrived back on Sunday and advised us that she had turned it off while she was away and would start the heating up process. So we missed out on 2 and half days of heated pool. The pool was freezing and we based the purchase of this holiday on the fact it was a heated pool so we could have use of a warm pool despite what the British Weather threw at us. This appeared to be the norm and no apology was offered up. We did mention in leaving form and feel we should be compensated for this. Moths, forgot to mention this on the leaving form. The property is beautifully clean, However there are a lot of moths and there were present in the built in wardrobes. So we did not unpack we lived out of our suitcases. Possibly needs a bug spray, as no one wants to take moths home to their wardrobes. The Owner. Now we know she lives on site, its her home. But on occasion it did feel like we were being watched. She sat on the end sofa by the pool and it kind of put you off coming out into the garden, assuming we could use the facilities at all hours late evening. This definitely put my eldest off from going out on his own or use the pool without one of us present. Its not something you can raise while on holiday as you would feel awkward for the rest of the break. She probably shouldn't encourage children to do handstands on the diving board as she is not aware of their skill levels, thankfully we were there to control that. Plus it feels odd that we are using the pool and her neighbourcleaner comes along to have a swim in the evening to. It does feel like an open house where the neighbour drops by unannounced which puts you on guard as you don't know the people wondering around the property. Maybe a note mentioning that people will be dropping by and a note referencing when the pool will be closed every evening so you can get your late swims in.
Tracey
This was an amazing holiday from start to finish. The host Robin made us feel very welcome and was at hand whenever we needed anything. We all made good use of the pool and hottub both were maintained everyday. My daughter loved feeding the 4 rescue chickens and Robin let her collect the chicken eggs. It also had a tennis court which you used at your own risk as its very gravely was a great surprise and the older kids loved using it. The pool is shared with whoever has rented the property next door, but this was fantastic for us as they were great company and had kids of a similar age. They all played together and all the adults sat every night around the pool and just chatted away. I normally need a holiday after having a holiday but this time I didn't. It was just so chilled out. Thank you Robin hostess with the Mostess.
This was the perfect retreat to relax & unwind, meet family & friends & visit local attractions had everything we needed & was just lovely. Robin is a treasure & her brownies & eggs were delicious, thanks! Highly recommended.
Pool cottage was lovely, Robin the owner was very welcoming, yummy home made brownies & bottle of fizz were a nice touch. We all loved the hot tub & kids braved the pool & had lots of fun. Lovely setting, the tennis court basketball hoop were great. Beautiful sunsets too. Really well situated for shops & Lincoln. Fab place to stay!!
We have stayed in a number of different cottages over the years and this was the best. A very comfortable place with great facilities. Our boys loved the hot tub and pool even though it was cold, the tennis court and the big TV. The host was wonderful so helpful and added lots of little touches to make the week even more special. We would definitely book again.
Veronica
Such a lovely Cottage, warm, cosy and clean. Loads of board games and a good DVD selection. The jacuzzi was in a lovely private area of the property. The pool area had plenty of seating and BBQs. There's even a tennis court and basket ball hoop too. Lots of pool toys and bikes for free use too. The welcome bottle of fizz, home made brownies, fresh chicken eggs and local honey was a greatly appreciated. I will definitely visit again.
Great cottage. The owner is very friendly an helpful. Village of Saxilby approx 2.5 miles away. There a coop, 2 good pubs and a few take aways. A great caf called Scrummies where you get a great breakfast and great cake where they give you very large portions for a very good price. The Red Arrows practice nearby which is great to watch. Buses and trains to Lincoln which is a beautiful city.
Pamela
What a superb holiday home, everything you could wish for and more. We were on holiday with our daughter and grandchildren aged 11 and 14 and were unsure if cottage was too small but that was not the case, the extra bed was comfortable and not too small and there was plenty of space for us all. There was everything and more provided that you would need. Unfortunately our holiday was in February so we didn't use the pool but it looked so inviting. We did however use the Hot Tub every night, it was glorious! We went to Lincoln twice, it only 6 miles away, and a couple of other trips recommended by the owners we really enjoyed them all. I would also like to mention the free aerobatic displays by the red arrows who are stationed at RAF camp a few minutes away. The only negative was that the TV reception wasn't very good it needed a boost, but who goes on holiday to watch TV. We all had a wonderful holiday and will return, next time in warmer weather to try out the pool.
Heather
We stayed with our children for the weekend. Wow it was brilliant. The owner was warm, welcoming and helpful. Those home made brownies were delicious and we loved the eggs from your chickens. The beds were comfortable, the underfloor heating was delightful and we all thoroughly enjoyed the pool and hottub. There was no better way to end the day than an evening sat infront of the log fire. We will definitely be back.
Kirstine
Lovely property that has the potential to be stunning with a bit of TLC, especially in the outside and garden areas. Tidying up around the grounds and tennis court better still a new tennis court would make this property much more luxurious. It looks like the hot tub had plans to be moved which would be a bonus for improved privacy. Internally, the double bed needs replacing as it's not comfortable but otherwise inside the cottage is perfect! Some lovely welcoming touches. All in all, an excellent property in a great location with a lovely host.
Gillian
This was a gem of a property nestled into the heart of the Lincolnshire countryside. It has a wellappointed kitchen and was clean and comfortable. There were some lovely welcoming touches including the provision of fresh eggs from the chickens in the garden, homemade Brownies and some Prosecco. The property enjoys great facilities with an outdoor swimming pool and hot tub. The location is excellent with the lovely city of Lincoln about six miles away. I would also recommend a trip to International bomber Command on the outskirts of Lincoln.

Located in Louth in Lincolnshire this is an ideal attraction when you want to get out in the fresh air and explore. There are many animals to see including ponies and piglets which the little ones love.  There are also some amazing birds from hawks and falcons to owls.  Most aspects of this attraction are included in the admission cost and as well as wandering around you get to hold and feed the animals too.  A real highlight are the micro pigs which are just like real pigs but in miniature.  Fully grown they are around the size of a spaniel!  If you get hungry then you can take your own picnic to the picnic areas or head for the tea room selling delicious food and children's meals too.
