About Avalon

This beautiful, detached Cotswold stone house rests in the village of Leonard Stanley, a spacious cottage situated over three floors. The whole family can come together for this holiday adventure, a delightful and inviting base to spend some quality time in each others company.

You will feel instantly at home after wandering inside to the lounge, which houses a woodburner and two comfortable sofas, perfect for some peace and quiet through the day. The dining area seats up to six people, and the modern kitchen has a collection of appliances, with a breakfast bar to make those morning times that much more special.

A utility area completes the arrangement. Stairs lead up to a family bathroom which boasts a wonderful Jacuzzi bath, with a handheld shower, providing easy access from both the first and second floor.

For a peaceful night's sleep, choose from either the twin bedroom, or king-size room, which is tied together with window seats so you can enjoy some 'me time' admiring the views. Two bedrooms are tucked away onto the next floor, two twins, one with en-suite facilities, leaving you spoilt for choice.

The enclosed garden is your own little escape for a moment or two relaxing in the hot tub, or enjoying the warmth from the woodburner on the patio area. For some family fun, why not take advantage of the games room, bringing a memorable end to your day.

Venture into the village of Leonard Stanley with its wealth of rural life sure to impress, and the village of Stroud, definitely worth a visit; for walking opportunities, sports, and a collection of cosy pubs. For the more energetic in the party take a walk along the Cotswold Way and take advantage of the many canal paths, cycle tracks and the National Trust common lands.

Avalon Reviews

Russell
Amazing property to stay at, so many things to keep you occupied. Thinking of making this an annual event and talked to others about visiting as well. Local pubs are not open so its the local social club thats the option unless you want to drive. Brill stay all in all
Susannah
Lovely property with great facilities. I wonderful place to relax.
Amanda
The cottage is lovely but could do with some fresh paint. It does look a bit sad from the outside. Also we were not told that the dishwasher had broken so that was not ideal. A note could have been left or we could have been emailed in advance. The breakfast bar chairs look like they could do with replacing. Apart from that, a lovely place to stay in a lovely area.
This was our second stay at Avalon and again it did not disappoint. On arrival the house was spotlessly clean and everything was as advertised. The garden is huge and excellent for our dogs to have complete freedom whilst allowing us to relax knowing they were safe. The village is very quiet but you are within easy reach of Gloucester, Cirencester and other towns of the Cotswolds. The Hot Tub is a brilliant extra which helped us relax and forget about work etc. Will definitely be looking to book again in the future
The property fulfilled all of our requirements and was great value. It was very clean and well equipped. We had excellent weather and the pergola was brilliant, enabling us to eat outside all the time, but it wouldn't have been a problem if it had rained as there are plenty of things to do. Watching the Champions League final in the cinema room was amazing! Dog walking was excellent, a bit hilly at times but compensated by the views. We had 2 meals out at lovely venues within 10 minute drives. Sainsburys is 10 minutes away, and a small Coop 5 minutes walk. We didn't want to leave at the end which probably says it all.

A beautiful home which gave us everything we were looking for. Space enough for family time plus many areas if you wanted to do something different. Loved the movie room, jacuzzi and games room, plus the garden is spacious. We loved it. Actually thinking of making our stay an annual event. If I was to make a suggestion it would be TV in master bedroom but not important.
Very clean house. Hot tub very well maintained. Top double room small for two adults. All other bedrooms were great. There is only one ensuite. Very large bathroom used by all the other guests. Plenty of toilets on each floor. Games room and cinema room a real bonus. Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this house to our friends.
Great, spacious property, with excellent facilities We were spoilt for choice with the cinema room, games room and hot tub proving to be really popular with the family. The kitchen was superbly equipped and we loved the Range cooker! Lots of options for places to visit within a reasonable driving distance, with Bath and Cirencester our favourites. Owner was friendly and helpful with making arrangements for our stay. We would thoroughly recommend 'Avalon' as a perfect destination for a family get away.

We had an enjoyable stay at Avalon. The house was clean, tidy and spacious. Kitchen fully stocked with cooking accessories, crockery etc. Cinema Room, Games Room and hot tub a big plus. Warmest hot tub we have ever had! Slight issue with Sky, but spoke to owner who was sorting it out. Lovely and safe garden for our dogs. Really like our privacy so was concerned about hot tub being checked every day, but lady was very discreet and came and went very quickly with a smile and a wave. We all enjoyed our time there.
We stayed at Avalon for my sons 18th birthday. The hot tub, games room and cinema were an instant hit for him and his friends. Beautiful house, really clean with well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. Good communication with owners and housekeeper. Would definitely return and recommend to friends.
Nicola
The house was a lovely spacious property and had many facilities that enabled us to have a great Christmas break with our family especially the cinema room, games room and hot tub. There were a few minor issues that we came across during our stay which did not impact on our overall experience so we did not feel the need to bring them up with the owners during the stay. However we did leave a list highlighting these issues when we left so that the owners had a chance to rectify the problems for any future guests. Overall we were extremely pleased with the property and would happily return again in the future.

This place is fab! !!! The house is very thought out & has all the amenities you need! Log burner is great to snuggle down to in the lounge, beds super comfy, kitchen bright & airy! Big garden with the added extras of the cinema room & games room! Cant wait to return in the summer.
Lovely property with everything you could possibly need. We had a fab time!
We booked Avalon as it looked like an ideal place for us as a family for the weekend, to unwind and spend some quality time together. It certainly delivered from the first contact with the owners everything was great. On arrival we were amazed at how much space there was and how clean the whole property appeared. We made use of the Hot Tub on the first night which was so relaxing, even had plastic glasses provided so we could enjoy a cold glass of fizz. In the morning whilst playing ball with the dogs in the garden the lady arrived to check the chemical levels in the tub, she was extremely friendly and helpful. All in all excellent stay nice local pubs and superb facilities which we made full use of. Will definitely be booking again

Avalon is a lovely home from home holiday. It has everything you could need. The added extras of hot tub, pool table, table tennis, cinema room is great. There is lots of space. The fridge dispensing ice is great too. Thank you Dani and Dave Also Thank you to Debbie, the house was lovely and clean, very friendly and very good local knowledge

Just spent an amazing week at Avalon. We booked the house for 2 adults, 2 older teenagers and a dog, thinking that the games room and hot tub would be great if the weather was bad. Well it's been a super scorchio week and those facilities have been well used as we couldn't face going out in 30 degrees! The garden is huge and as well as football, badminton, frisbee etc, offers lots of deep shade. We took several early morning walks up into the woods and found the Cotswold Way beautiful woods and views, free car park also available. Found the Soho Bakery which was fab, jaunts into Stroud for the Saturday farmers market and Gloucester for the Quays outlet centre. Ben's Chinese takeaway is the best we've ever had! Will definitely be coming back again. Hosts responded instantly with two minor issues. House is immaculate. Brilliant holiday!
We had a wonderful time celebrating my husbands 30th birthday. House was beautifully furnished, clean, spacious and welcoming. Plenty of things to do and games to play. My partner especially enjoyed the cinema room and our friends spent a lot of time in the lovely big hot tub. Would definitely come back for a family Holliday. Many Thanks!
Great weekend enjoyed by three generations of the same family. Huge secure garden with lots of games equipment to keep the kids entertained. The hot tub was the favourite of all of us & we were blessed with really warm weather that weekend. Lovely lady came to check the water quality every morning. The house is spacious, very comfortable & very well equipped. I highly recommend this lovely house.
Fabulous, Great location, plenty of room, very well equipped kitchen. My family and I will definitely stay here again. It has all you need and more
We stayed in Avalon for Christmas 2021, the house was absolutely beautiful. We especially loved the hot tub and the cinema room. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for a perfect holiday.

The house and facilities were outstanding. We were quite surprised at the location as hadnt expected the area to be as residentialbuilt up. The house made up for this and we explored walks beyond the village.
Steven
Thank you for a great long weekend. House was great, plenty of space inside and out with lots of spares of everything e.g. lightbulbs, batteries a nice touch, along with the bottles of Prosecco and milk to welcome us after a long drive. Loads of gamesactivities in the house, garden and games room to keep folk busy, more than we had time to enjoy! Cleaner for hot tub who comes daily very friendly when we bumped into her in the garden one morning. All round a great time had by all, thank you!
We booked Avalon for the weekend to celebrate our sons 18th Birthday, he was bringing some friends along so it needed to be spacious! Avalon very much exceeded my expectations, it was spacious, comfortable and luxurious with lovely character to the house. The cinema room was fabulous, the kids set up camp there and only left to find food, it even had its own fridge and toilet! The games rooms was also a lot of fun and a great extra space to hang out in. The house itself is extremely well equipped we easily fed and watered 8 of us from the kitchen and dining areas. Plenty of clean cosy bedding and options for twinsdoubles across the 4 bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms and toilets too which avoided any queues! The hot tub is a fabulous touch and kept so clean with Debbie attending very quietly every morning to check it and top up any required chemicals. The owners are easily contactable for advice and tips and were so responsive with our questions about takeaways locally! We didnt explore the local area as were there to just relax and enjoy the house and garden garden is massive and so well cared for which our dogs especially loved!. No negatives about this place and Im looking for a reason to go back! Thank you to the owners for providing and maintaining this lovely place to stay.
Obviously with the house in constant use its difficult to carry out any maintenance but there were a few things which needed a little attention and a coat of paint in places would help as well. Very well equipped and spacious and with fine weather the outside facilities were well used, a larger bbq would be very useful. The host was helpful and communicated with us when outside workmen were arriving window cleaners and hot tub maintenance
Annemarie
We've just had a fantastic week staying in Avalon it was so much more than a house to stay in for the week. We visited beautiful or fun places in the surrounding area every day with the kids but the house definitely allows you to include 'staying at the house' as an activity for kids and adults. The garden is a great size for football, tag, letting the dog burn off some energy we played darts, pool, had popcorn and watched films in the cinema room which is separate to the main house, enjoyed the jacuzzi every day, used the fire pit to toast marshmallows, BBQ'd and dined outside it was great. The house is really well stocked with glasses and cutlery which means as a large family we didn't feel we had to constantly clean to function. Thank you!
This house in general is fantastic, however it is let down by simple things. Ie .. no scouring pads, no kindlingfire lighters, cobwebs all over the outside lights and seating area outside by the stove. A dog poo in its bag left on the drive ! The jacuzzi was green on arrival and dont believe it was looked at until Monday could be wrong fortunately we knew about jacuzzis so treated it daily ourselves and even had to do a shock treatment on it as the levels were so off ! Really disappointed with the 2 teabags, no coffee or sugar ! A few basic herbs would of been nice, or even better a welcome hamper ! Garden really needs looking after better ! Grass long on arrival and was cut at 7.50pm 2 nights before we left, pots full of weeds as is the drive. Such a shame as the house and outdoor space is so family friendly. It just needs a little more love and care shown to it.
Stephen
Hosts were great from start to finish the house is lovely and has a charming outside area which we made the most of during the recent hot weather. It felt like we were in France for enjoying a drink or two on the outdoors patio. Thanks again
Loads to keep all ages entertained for a rainy week
Perfect place for a well deserved break
Henrietta
The space and layout of the property, were ideal. And the outdoor facilities were a real bonus, especially the hot tub. The house is well equipped and comfortable. For a large house, it would be useful to have more than one walk in shower in the property. We found it difficult to work out how to set up the equipment In the cinema room, it could have done with some instructions, and we werent able to align the projector with the screen, and some of the furnishings were very tatty. The garden needed tidying up to, and generally a bit of talc. But overall the property met our needs, and we enjoyed our stay.
Lovely house with great facilities. Local taxi firm were brilliant. Cards were left at the house with contact number. Would love to visit again sometime.
Holiday cottage lived up to our expectations and we had a great stay. We found under the current circumstances it could have had been cleaned With more detail as we had to do a few extra cleaning bits ourself. Also the property has some great outdoor facilities and is advertised for familiesgroups but were made aware of sensitive neighbours if we were having to much fun on our holidays, this was also reflected by many comments in the guests book. This was a massive shame as it makes you weary of being in the garden enjoying the surroundings and extensive facilities especially when its too hot to be in the cottage and your on your holiday. Overall we had a great break at this cottage But I dont think we would return due to the neighbours which is a great shame as the cottage is a great place to spend a family get away.
Communication and helpfulness of house owner was excellent! Dani made us feel incredibly welcome and made it clear we were to enjoy her home.
Elizabeth
The house was fantastic and had everything we needed as a group of 8. The games room was a great space to spend family time and we really enjoyed the hot tub too. We took extras like ttowels, dishwasher tablets etc but all this was provided for us which was fantastic. There was plenty of firewood for the Wood burner and made the house super cosy. The surrounding area was gorgeous and had plenty to do. We will definitely be back.
Richard
Fantastic location and house. Perfect service in every way and would definitely stay here again.
Jackie
We had the best weekend celebrating my mums birthday so there was a range of ages there from 960 with plenty to do for everyone, the games room was a hit especially with the projector screen. We would definitely visit again, probably when the warmer weather hits us so we can enjoy the hot tub even more and enjoy the outdoors more
