Kensley Lodge Reviews

Lovely Christmas get away great location and dog walks.
The cottage is so cosy and well furnished. We had 4 adults sharing and it was a perfect size for us. The shower always had plenty of hot water and the underfloor heating made us feel nice and toasty. The location is ideal, secluded enough to really relax and feel properly in the forest, whilst also being a short drive from key forest attractions like the Sculpture Trail, Speech House, Puzzlewood, Clearwell Caves as well as local townsvillages like Coleford and Lydney.
Nice cottage , Hot tub a great feature , luckily there was only two of us and our dog staying there , would be extremely cozy for 4 adults let alone 6 . Great location especially if you have dogs , with lots of nice walks in the forest .
A beautiful lodge in a fantastic location. Absolutely loved our stay. Only concerns were, its a bit small for 6 people, but perfect for 4. Broken blind in one of the bedrooms ment you has to keep it open and a slight leak under the sink. The hot tub was great especially at night under the stars. Overall, I'd thoroughly recommend Kensley lodge.
The property was lovely, nice and secluded and really quiet. The hot tub was a really nice hot tub, well maintained and clean. Inside the property, all the important things kitchen, bedsbedrooms, bathroom were all very clean and the other rooms were decent. There were places that could do with a little freshen up decorwise but nothing too serious, the bathroom could do with a lock though!! The place itself is very small though, even for 4 people, but aside from that a fantastic and lovely little space to stay for a week away.

Lovely cottage in a very quiet pretty area. Cottage & hot tub was spotlessly clean & comfortable. Only minor point is some maintenanceupdating needed on a few things but this didn't detract from what was a very enjoyable & relaxing stay.
Lovely lodge with comfortable beds, surrounded by forest! The hot tub was the icing on the cake! Would thoroughly recommend!

Fantastic location in the forest, perfect for walking our dog plus the fields at the end of the drive perfect to walk round. Trish there daily, offered great tips and really friendly. All communication with Erica good, she responded quickly to us. The lodge is lovely, bedrooms quite compact but still fine, hot tub great. We would definately come and stay again. Only things we would say is lounge furniture tired and could do with an update outdoor lighting needs sorting for the darker evenings and mornings.
Great location, lovely lodge with extremely helpful and friendly cleaner, she was a great help in picking places to visit and where to eat out. We would definitely recommend this lodge as there is loads to do on your doorstep. Hot tub was great and well needed after a day's activity. Thanks for a great stay.
We enjoyed our visit to Kensley lodge very much. lovely surroundings, fabulous woodlands and the hot tub was great. lots of places to visit in a beautiful area. Not being allowed on the grass area was dissapointing as we very much wanted to play croquet and badmington. The beds were very confortable, but lounge furniture very dated. The Shower door over the bath leaks. Having a smart TV with Netflix would have helped with the children in the evening as very ltd channels and no phone signal at all, but it was nice to be away from people ringing. I would still recomend this lodge, but being fenced off from the other lodges for privacy would have be much better instead of trellis, especially behind the hot tub and in front of next doors parking bay by the lodges front door. The cleaner who turned up on our last morning was lovely.
Excellent location in the Forest Of Dean our dog really loved her walks. Plenty to see and do in this area. The stone walled property was very quaint and clean. Adequately equipped, really enjoyed using the hot tub, plenty of towels provided.
Beautiful setting, cottage was lovely, spotlessly clean, your cleaning lady is a star! Hot tub was a lovely bonus, btw I've left you a bath plug that fits
We had a fantastic stay at Kensley cottage. The property is in a brilliant location with most of the sights of the Forest of Dean within a 15 minute drive. It is well equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay, we particularly enjoyed the hot tub. We had our dog with us and there is a brilliant field which is fenced off within a 3 minute walk of the property great for training and walking off the lead. Perhaps the only small criticism is that the bathroom is a little dated.

The lodge is well located on the edge of the forest. Everything in the lodge met our expectations apart from how reporting that the pop up waste for the bath was broken and appeared broken. The result was we couldn't empty the bath from the very start. I informed the owner, Erica, by WhatsApp and she meant to txt her reply to her cleaner Tash, to check our lodge, Unfortunately she sent the text to me in error... stating and I quote When you're up there the idiots in Danby Lodge have managed to get the plug stuck in the bath and they can't get it out There are no words to describe how we felt. We were insulted that she should speak about any guest in this way. She also got it wrong we were in Kensley lodge, not Danby. Tash the cleaner called the next day and confirmed it was indeed broken and a new part would be ordered. We spent the whole week emptying the bath with a corkscrew from the wine opener in the drawer. No apology or further contact from Erica when it was confirmed by Tash that the bath mechanism WAS BROKEN and not because we were IDIOTS.No apology or goodwill gesture. Tash is helpful and friendly this problem was out of her remit. Best pub to eat in was The Woodman at Parkend. Coleford is a bit run down, the chippy was ok though. Symmons Yat had loads of potential. Great to walk down to river Wye over Bibbins bridge and back over the river by the hand pulled ferry.
Lovely cottage in the forest. Ideal for plenty of walks with your dog with an enclosed field near by. Local town and pubs are only a 5 minute drive. Hot tub was good and kept cleaned.
Cosy cottage. Great location. Wonderful staff on site. Hot tub was Wonderful.

Tash was a super helpful addition to our stay, always on hand to assist us with a smile And nothing was too much trouble x Hot tub was serviced everyday and beds were super comfy. Very enjoyable stay
We stayed Monday to Friday with our 2 dogs and thoroughly enjoyed our stay . The cottage was great ,clean, warm and well looked after as a barn conversion it had some really nice original features. Coming out of the cottage you were right in the forest ,the dogs loved this and it was great not to have to use the car if you wanted to go for a walk . The lady we met who worked there was really friendly and helpful .Pubs and shops not too far away . Will definitely go again .
Hi this is a beautiful lodge in a beautiful setting. I would say not really suitable for 6 people due to such a small sofa bed. Think the suite could do with an upgrade as its not very comfortable. Other than that lovely stay and the lady who greeted us was fantastic
Really nice cottage, home away from home in terms of comfort and the hot tub was wonderful too! The support provided by Sykes and the cottage owner was also appreciated in finding alternative dates for our stay. Will certainly recommend both Sykes and this particular cottage!
Really easy to book. The lodge was gorgeous and cosy and had everything we needed. The hot tub was a fabulous treat after a day in the woods on our bikes. Definitely going to go back!
Jennifer
Absolutely lovely lodge. Very clean with everything we needed. The lodge was always warm and cosy. Hot tub was clean. Good location.
Leeanne
Great stay. The cottage was lovely and had everything that was needed for a perfect stay. Really good location and close to local parks and places of interest. The hot tub was fantastic, so relaxing. Really enjoyable stay and would return.
Georgia
Very lovely and cosy lodge! It had everything we needed and the hot tub was great! Great location, as there is lots of walks around the lodge and its a short drive to Symonds Yat! It is very nice that the accommodation allows pets to stay. The one thing is that check out at 10 am is very early and makes the morning very rushed. I think it would make a big difference changing check out to 11am. We had a lovely weekend at the lodge!
Elizabeth
This property is lovely however it is not really suitable for 6 adults as the sofa bed is really only suited to one adult and is not really comfortable enough for more than one night. No other complaints, lovely place to stay for a few days, hot tub an added bonus! Lovely setting in the forest and even spotted wild boar which was a highlight. Would definitely return or recommend
Fernando
It was very disappointing, as we made plans according to what was available when buying . It said there was a games room ,when there wasnt one at all . 2 Pets were welcome , I only took a little shiatsu that had to spend most of her time inside a cage as she wasnt allowed to go upstairs cause she had paws, said by the owner the day before we went in . Hot tub we were not allowed to change the temperature of the 38 degrees that was set ,following days the temperature was set to 29 degrees by whoever's was doing the daily maintenance. So after that we didnt make much use of it . There was a SPA treatment clinic also advertised , guess what ? No one to operate in. In my opinion it hasnt been operating for quite a long time . In the end the only positive aspect was the silence and the green from the evolving forest . No space for the kids to recreate close to the lodge except the long walks around the forest which was ok in the end. We made plans according to what we bought and I felt a bit tricked. Overall we didnt have the holiday we was expecting . So very disappointing!
Bike parks near by and lovely local walks Very beautiful and peaceful
Alison
Wonderful location, quiet, easy access to the forest , brilliant to have our own hot tub, definitely recommend to others
Lovely place to stay, so quiet and peaceful, the ladys were very friendly and helpful.
Natalie
Will be back!
Great place and wonderful area. ...
Louise
Nice little cottage nestled within the forest. A comfortable fit for the two of us. Piping hot water and good underfloor heating. Hot tub was kept nice and clean. Would use again.
My family and I had an absolutely wonderful early May Bank holiday break at Kensley Lodge celebrating my 50th birthday. Kensley Lodge is a real break away off the beaten track away from stresses of work, school, uni and general life! The accommodation was very clean, offered lots of character and cosiness and the separate dining room was perfect for birthday celebrations. The hot tub was a real treat and in just the right place for all afternoon sun, birdsong and looking out onto the beautiful Forest of Dean surroundings. Erica was helpful yet discreet and left us to our own devices but was in contact for arrival and departure and the lovely lady Tash? who came to clean the hot tub everyday was very kind and thoughtful buying me some chocolates on my birthday! We explored locally visiting The Sculpture Trail, Monmouth, Tintern Abbey, Symonds Yat with a canoe trip and ate out at The Potting Shed for brunch and Ye Old Ferrie Inn which offered delicious locally sourced food a perfect get away and memories to treasure. Thank you Erica and your team at Forest of Dean Lodges. We will definitely be rebooking for another break to reboot our bodies and souls. Sally, Rob, Issie, Dom and Saffy the spaniel who loved the walks in the well located open forestfield close by
What would have been nice would have been a pint of milk tea coffee after a ... What would have been nice would have been a pint of milk tea coffee after a three hour drive, just to chill out before going off to find the shops
It was a lovely break and could not fault the service. The WiFi was down the first night but Erica was great with this and responded quickly to any queries. Would happily stay again.
Everything was absolutely stunning. ... sometimes you stay somewhere and the pictures are not representative of the experience, hence I was a little unsure.... but, beautiful accommodation, beautiful surroundings, peaceful and we all said we would go back again! The owner made herself available and was excellent with communication. Thanks for a great and relaxing break!
The cottage itself was great, just what we needed and the location for us was superb. We thought the info was a little dated for example about shops and local pubs but on the whole we would recommended it.
The location, staying right near the forest really peacefull and relaxing
