Park Bothy Reviews

Really lovely property and we enjoyed our stay. Close to local towns. Would love to give 5 stars, however as theres no cover over the hot tub we unfortunately lost a couple of days use of the hot tub due to the rain!
Park Bothy was unbelievably clean. The facilities were lovely and and well appointed for a couple. That being said, there were a few minor frustrations during our trip. 1. When we arrived there was no fire lighters to light the fire. With such a main feature of the property I thought this was frustrating. I called and I was told that someone would drop them off soon and that took 3 hours. 2. The radiator in the bedroom didnt work. I again called the maintenance and someone was sent to look at it the same chap bought fire lighters but again it was around 3 hours since I reported the issue and we were just sat about during our relaxing break waiting for someone. We were also told he needed to come back the following day to fix so again, no heat in the bedroom in November. 3. The bedside lamps dont work on the far side of the bedroom. I didnt even want to bother with this as it was late and we only had one more night. 4. The knives were really poor in the kitchen. They are more dangerous when blunt than sharp. Id like to reiterate that aside from the above the stay was excellent. The hot tub was fantastic, the place was cosy, easy to find and an easy walk to Stow and Bourton. The above points are just feedback that would of made our stay perfect. We would certainly return.
We really enjoyed our stay! Everything was great and the cottage is in a fantastic location for what we wanted to do.
Absolutely fantastic, loved every minute of being there

We had a 2 night stay in July 2023. Initially we thought the place was spotless? We then sat on the sofa and when my wife stood up her black dress was covered in white dog hair. My T shirt was as well. The sofa and cushions weren't clean. The sofa isn't comfortable enough for a 275 a night accommodation and I think anyone paying this much would at least expect it to be clean. It kind of ruined the stay as even after we dragged the vacuum cleaner out and did it ourselves it still didn't feel clean. I've stayed in dog friendly properties before, as I'm guessing the owners will say its listed as such, but that's no excuse. Park Bothy is really well equipped, comfy bed, a nice log burner and in a nice quiet spot. Just a shame about the horrible sofa.

Location was perfect with the majority of places we wanted to see were no more than 15 mins away. Garden was perfect for our mini dasch as was indeed secure. We did however come home a day early as we did not find the bed very comfortable and felt sore and stiff waking up. In my opinion the living area needed a big deep comfy sofa to curl up upon, sadly the one there was more like a waiting room seat at a doctorsdentist. Cant fault the facilities, just the level of comfort was not what me and my wife were used to which was a shame as the property was lovely.
We had a lovely stay at Park Bothy! We were so glad to have found this little gem whilst visiting The Cotswold. Everything we needed was at the cottage even some milk & cookies for us which was a lovely touch after a long journey. The property itself as described is beautiful and homely, our little dog was so at home with a lovely garden at the front. The bed was amazing & comfy and hot tub was an additional bonus, lovely and clean. We didnt realise how easy it was to get to places, Bourton On The Water was only a 67min drive and other places including shops only a quick trip in the car! Check in was a 4pm which was well suited for us and the drive is right next to the house.m so handy! The only comments we could make was some things needed maintenance I.e bathroom shelf, we found the bathroom & lounge could have been hoovered a little more and the front gate I noticed the property next door had chicken wire on and ours didnt. With our dog only being small, she did try and attempt to sneak through the gaps in the fence. It would be nice if that could be added just to make it even more secure, with there being a road near by. Thank you for an amazing stay, we will 100 recommend and would stay again!
Rebecca
We couldnt fault it. Cant wait to come back fingers crossed this year. So comfy and a nice home feel to it.
The fourth time we have been and we will 100 come again. Its a shame a few things have gone missing and not been replaced. The table mats, protective glove for the fire and vegetable peeler. The frying pan was also so damaged it was unusable. These are, of course, minor points but a shame.

We had a fantastic stay at Park Bothy. It was in a great position to explore all of the Cotswolds. The accommodation was a great size for a one bed place and the hot tub was a lovely extra to improve the stay even more. The bed was extremely comfortable and it had facilities to self cater with ease. It was truly dog friendly and it was secure to let my pooch roam freely outside. To take to the next level it would have been lovely to have some sun loungers in the garden to sun bathe! I would absolutely recommend a stay here
A perfect place to stay, exactly what we wanted, loved it, had everything you could need for a comfortable break, an exceptional property. Well placed for visiting the beautiful surrounding villages and NT properties. Would definitely recommend.
Charles
Perfect place to stay to explore places to see don't need to go far
Rosalind
Thank you for supplying all the necessary items like soap and tea towels, along with the milk and biscuits. And for having such a well equipped kitchen. We had a lovely stay. It may be helpful to have had a small information pack like how the heater and the fire work.
Everything you could possibly need was available at this beautiful bungalow. I want to live here!
Very comfortable and quiet stay, perfect for 2 people and very safe should you wish to bring your furry friend! The barn was well placed for visiting the well known areas in the Cotswolds. There were a few issues that were dealt with straight away by the management company, although it would be useful for future tenants to note that the plug to switch on the hob is located behind the microwave not the switch marked hob, it took a maintenance man a little while to discover this which made for a rather late supper on the first night!
Nicola
Great stay would have another few days spotless and everything you need , trying to book again thanks
Siobhan
Really nice property, very clean and provided with all we needed for a nice stay. Hot tub lovely and private and garden nice and secure for our dog. Would recommend.
Really great holiday property. Thoroughly enjoyed it. A couple of minor suggestions as dog owners, visiting a dog friendly property an out door tape and hose by front door would be really useful especially in winter! Some more wine glasses we bought two plastic wine glasses for hot tub and left in cupboard.
Graham
Excellent property. Loved the rural setting. Very clean. Large Bedroom with Extra large comfortable bed. Only negative, during winter months check in needs to be earlier. At 1800 hrs it's dark so if unfamiliar with the area made it slightly difficult to find.
Having stayed here 5 times we were slightly disappointed on this visit as property alleged deep clean due to Covid and checkin time is 6pm to allow for this. However there was no evidence of a deep clean as property was quite dirty & dusty. The late checkin means we paid for our first days holiday but had no access until the evening. The property is looking very tired & needs refreshing & redecorating. Also inventory is missing lots of items in the kitchen. Crockery is chipped & lots of odd glasses & not a pair that matches! We had a family party & expected at least a set of 6 glasses & unchipped crockery. Its not a cheap property to rent & our expectations were not fully met on this occasion. We will return but the property needs some well needed TLC to warrant the price.
Pauline
Only one very minor thing, there was only one wine glass in the cupboard, we could not even use it as it was cracked. We do wish we had taken our comfortable garden chairs as we spent time in the garden and didnt find the wooden picnic table comfortable for very long. Other than that everything was perfect for us, there was nothing we needed that wasnt provided.
Kieran
Really enjoyed the holiday and the place was so lovely just wasnt happy that using the hot tub was an additional cost on top of the price advertised even though the hot tub was designated for the property.
It was perfect
Perfect
This wonderful hideaway is just perfect if your looking for a relaxing breakaway from hustle and bustle of everyday life. In the middle of nowhere with some fantastic walks on the doorstep. The cottage is very secure for dogs. The kitchen has everything you?ll need if you enjoy cooking. And is well equipped with pretty much everything you?ll need. The private courtyard where the hot tub is situated, is ideal for privacy. We meet the owner who was very pleasant and informed us as soon as we arrived that the LED light was not working on the hot tub ( not an issue for us ). This was sorted within a couple of days. We will defiantly make Park Bothy a yearly place to visit for our staycations. Already looking to re-book and we haven?t even left yet.
Sinead
The fire alarm was beeping during the first night but it was fixed really quickly the next morning after we rang, was impressed. Nice and quiet location, comfortable rooms and furniture, lovely hot tub. Only improvement might be seeing if there's a way to make it feel less exposedmore private when all the curtains are open down the side of the building... perhaps a high fence, hedge or similar? Also, was happy to pay extra for the hot tub but overall felt a bit expensive for what it was, especially as it was self catering.
Kirsty
Lovely lodge really enjoyed our time away here. Peaceful and relaxing.

The accommodation was clean, comfortable and we'll equipped. We had a wonderful time.
My wife and I had a lovely relaxing couple of days. The property was felt very cosy and had the right facilities for a few days break from normal life! Its in a great location, being in such a quiet area but not too far from shops and pubs in nearby locations such as Burford and Bourton on the water. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely place would highly recommend.
Victoria
It was a lovely cottage, everything you needed. Lovely walk to burton on the water which allowed us to avoid the crowds! Beautiful location. Well stocked coop near by too!
In waht turned out to be very difficult circumstances over the last few days as news of the coronovirus escalated it was lovely to be able to stay somewhere with such a high level of accommodation and clean as well. On the first day I had some problems with the oven, but the owner was over like a shot to assist. I would definitely go back there. Such a lovely part of the world, and the location of the accommodation was right in the middle of it.
Terrible Location & Poor Customer Service
The cottage its self was OK, the location however is terrible. I understand that's no reflection of the cottage but I feel more could have been done prior to our stay to warn/advise on just how remote the location was. We researched the location online but getting a feel for the lack of taxis, buses and general public services is something you really don't find until you're there. What we did receive prior to our stay was lots of "if you need help then please ask" and "don't suffer in silence, we're here to help you" kind of thing. This obviously gave me the impression that people would actually help me should I have needed it. After struggling to find public transport we sought help via the overly 'we WILL help you' email to find a taxi. I got a response along the lines of 'yeah I know bloke, he's near you'. We contacted this nearby man who said he might be able to taxi us and he'd let us know. Nearby Taxi man, never got back to us and so I returned to the handy 'we will most certainly help you' email asking if there was anymore taxis or alternative transport available. I guess not getting back to people must be a good bit of Cotswold banter as this email was also ignored. I get it's a remote area, and I understand that public transport in the area may be limited but what I have no understanding for is poor customer service. To just not reply, I think is terrible especially after receiving an email encouraging to ask for help. Once again, the cottage was OK, not amazing but OK but poor customer service has overshadowed the whole experience for me and based on my experience, I wouldn?t recommend this to anyone.

Beautiful cottage. Stylish and comfortable. Hot tub was amazing. Owners have taken great care to ensure everything is ready for you as you arrive. All essential supplies in the cottage including hand wash, towels, dishwasher tabs, coffee, tea, fresh milk, fine biscuits, logs, kindling, matches. Very well equipped with kitchen items, including electric whisks, rolling pin etc. Will definitely return a perfect hideaway retreat. Couldnt fault. The only thing that would improve it slightly would be a country pub within walking distance. Nearest pub I found was 3 miles. Otherwise a perfect break thank you. I had an issue after leaving with something I had forgotten and Sykes were incredibly helpful too and went out of their way to ensure the problem was resolved. Would highly recommend both park bothy and Sykes cottages
