Perfect for a large family gathering or a peaceful break with friends, the house is filled with home comforts and a range of additional amenities including tennis courts, a fabulous gazebo and a hot tub.

Rockstowes House Reviews

Rockstowes house was the perfect venue for our family of five for our summer break. We could have invited guests, but wanted the place to ourselves to have some devoted family time, away from distractions. The house itself was a grand and wonderfully designed and presented work of architecture, while also being warm, homely and superbly spacious and well equipped. The house was fantastically appointed, and the grounds were beautiful. We regularly enjoyed sitting on the patio together taking in the lovely countryside views across the valley. Our children particularly loved the tennis court which was a real treat and the hot tub. We happened to have a week of beautiful weather that really gave us a fabulous time. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will be certain to check future availability for a return visit. Ben
It was a not very clean when we arrived but the house and grounds were fantastic Lovely house and location

This was an incredible property to stay at, even better than the pictures. It was clean tidy and beautifully presented. Booking and comms leading up to the stay were great, ensuring I was always well informed. Only regret is we didnt book for longer!
A gorgeous house in a lovely location, which suited our three generations perfectly. It was very spacious, comfortable and well furnished, except for a lack of wardrobes. There were areas, especially outside, that needed some TLC and the walk to the garden pod is probably impossible for anyone with mobility difficulties.
We had a wonderful stay at Rockstowes House. The house is beautifully decorated and comfortable, there is a lot of space for all guests to enjoy inside and outside. We particularly enjoyed the large kitchendining area for socialising and we had a private chef cook for us one evening. A couple of issues we did have was the WiFi not working, limited hot water and the AGA was slow cooking for a large group of people, also no instructions on how to use it. However, we would love to stay here again in the future.
10th March 13th March On arriving at the property on the Friday afternoon we were disappointed that the cleanliness of the house was not up to the standards expected for a property commanding a substantial price for a weekend away for a large group When looking round the property to settle in we found dead flies around all the windows and on the floor in every bedroom , not a just a few but a lot. Having been informed the house manager had been round in the morning. it was clear the house had not been used for a while and the cleaners had not been in that day to check and also clean if needed. When we spoke with Sykes they responded immediately and contacted the owner who said they would have a cleaner round asap, the cleaner had still not materialized by Saturday late morning. I then contacted Sykes to inform them of this and also the microwave had stopped working, again customer agent informed the owner , we heard nothing back on this for a while so had to purchase a new microwave for the weekend as we had a baby with us that needed this for meals etc . To also note for future guests booking, there is a lack of attention to detail with this property and needs further management re presentation and maintenance for arriving guests such as 1. No toilet paper in many of the bathrooms 2. No kitchen starter pack Dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid not available , washing up gloves were past there best 3.WIFI really poor signal, dropped out constantly and the TVs were difficult to connect 4.Toilet cistern top bathroom broke twice and constantly flowed, we fixed it twice and then gave up on the third time 5.Oven settings on the AGA to low on the hotplates and cannot change which mage it difficult to cook especially when try to entertain 11 guests 6. Tea towels lack off, need more to be available 7.Bathrooms Towels were inconsistent some had hand towels some did not 8. Kitchen Plinth coming away from kitchen cupboards As mentioned this property has so much potential but the attention to detail, especially with the housekeeping is lacking and needs to be addressed to ensure that this is a property guests would rave about and leave feeling as though this was good value for the money Paul

Our party had a great stay at Rockstowes House, property as described with great grounds and facilities. Written documents were very helpful on arrival for things to do near by and tips and tricks such as heating the hot tub and starting the Log burners. On arrival there was a small issue with previous occupants however this was conveyed by Sykes representative and resolved quickly. Great customer service Highly recommend and would stay again in the future.

Outstanding house with great facilities in ideal location for us. Has the feeling of being loved and lived in by the owners. Only let down by lack of loo roll and dishwasher tablets on arrival requiring us to go shopping less than ideal for a brief stay. Also time clock for hot water meant luke warm water until 9 am and waiting for boost was annoying.
