Overlea Cowshed Reviews

We have now visited overlea 3 times. Everything has been perfect each time. Its the perfect place to relax and by far the nicest accommodation we have stayed in. Everything you need is taken care of and alot of thought has gone in to making this such a wonderful place to be. We will definitely be visiting again.

We had a lovely, relaxing week at the Cow Shed. The hot tub is such a treat after a day of walking in the surrounding area. The kitchen has everything you need and the cosy living room area is perfect for unwinding with a book or watching the latest series on the Fire stick provided by the owner. We would love to return.
Graham
Inspire of some inclement weather had enjoyable stay due to comfort and facilities of The cottage.
Deborah
The cottage was stunning, facilities and attention to detail second to none. Such a comfortable stay in a great location. The hot tub was a godsend after some amazing walks. Such a well equipped cottage with everything you needed and more. A basket filled with eggs, bread and biscuits, milk in the fridge and tea, coffee and sugar in cupboards. You really don't need to take anything but your self and luggage of course. Will definitely return xx
Overlea Cowshed is perfect. Lovely, clean and tasteful inside but still homely with a wonderful log burner and everything you need for an enjoyable and comfortable stay. Peaceful and tranquil outside with a great hot tub right outside your back door. Location gives great access to the rest of the beautiful Peak District. What more could you ask for? Very happy with our choice and would return without hesitation.
Weve stayed in many cottages and we thought the Cowshed was excellent. It was very well equipped, had everything we needed and the owners were always there to offer help.
Absolutely wonderful stay. The place is exquisite. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Cowshed to anyone. We will definitely be back.
A great cottage with excellent facilities. As there is no window in the bathroom there was a stagnant water smell but it was not so bad after being used and if aired out by having the bedroom window open. Overall it was a very comfortable and well maintained place.
Lovely property and very helpful friendly owners. I have just one small criticism, no shelf or cupboard in the bathroom to put your toiletries by the basin or in the shower for your shower gel shampoo etc.,or spectacles!
Oliver
Lovely, clean, and peaceful property. Comfy bed and immediate access to countryside and footpaths. Excellent hot tub! We really enjoyed our stay.
Stayed at Overlea Cowshed from 2229 December. 1st time this far into the peaks normally stay around MonsalBakewell. What a revelation!! Property first. We parked in the designated space and located the Cowshed. This is no Cowshed!! On opening the door, we were met with relaxed Jazz coming through the Sonos. In front of us was a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and in the kitchen area we found a basket containing Bread, Milk and other staples. All rooms are tastefully decorated and all appliances and fittings are high end. There is a comprehensive set of info and instructions as well as a tablet containing local information like bus timings, places to eat etc. There is a fully working central heating system, which is a doddle to operate and control, as well as a huge log burner. Whilst this is essentially a one bedroom cottage, in no way does it feel small. Overlea farm also benefits from being on the edge of a Public Bridleway. For us this was fantastic, as we didn't need to drive anywhere in order to get some great walks in. And walk we did. I remember coming back from our first walk 6.5 hours. We were in clip order!! What a bonus it was then to sink into the huge hot tub and be bombarded with bubbles whilst drinking bucks fizz!! Bliss. The area itself is beautiful. If you haven't been before, take a walk up to Lantern Pike 2 hours door to door The views are well worth it. Also I don't know if it's something in the water, but the other thing we noted was that everyone we came into contact with, be it fellow walkers or folks in New Mills, was absolutely lovely. That has not always been our experience in other places. This break has left us feeling recharged and wanting to return. Well done and thank you to Holly and Alan for having a vision and achieving it.
Excellent property in a beautiful location. Finished to a very high specification with everything you could need and we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and in front of the log fire. Walks directly from the door and loads to do in the local area. Would highly recommend and cant wait to come back again next year.
Excellent property and stay. We entered the property in the evening to be greeted by a Sonos sound system playing jazz music and the lights dimmed. It was an excellent arrival. From that the property did not dissapoint. A beautiful kitchen with quartz worktops, dish washer, coffee machine, and a few essentials of bread, milk, butter, eggs, tea and coffee. The bedroom is huge with stunning views over the countryside. The bathroom has a large shower and the whole property is is great condition feeling like it has just been re furbished. The only small, and I mean very small things I noticed is the bathroom door didn't fully latch so on one windy night we could hear the extractor fan and there is no place to put a washbag next to the sink, a small ledgeshelf is all that's required. I stress that these 2 things are very minor and we left feeling very pleased with the stay and will be visiting again.
Stephanie
Absolutely loved Overlea Cowshed, it is so comfortable but very modern and done up to a very high spec. It had everything you need and the hot tub is just fantastic. We stayed for a week and will definitely return. The log burner kept us so cozy, the bed was super comfortable and Netflix subscription already up and running. Honestly 10 out of 10, loved it!
Richard
Amazing cottage in a great area of Derbyshire with great walks from the door. Alan and Holly available if needed. The cottage has everything you need, cosy and private with a great hot tub. Would definitely return.
Philip
Overlea cowshed is a cottage full of character and charm. As soon as we walked into it we thought wow. Having arrived late evening we were delighted to find the cottage warm, lit with lovely background music and a great welcome package. Lovely contemporary art adds to the luxurious feel of the cottage. All facilities were first class. Highly recommend.

Tracey
Well what can I say about this little bit of paradise! The cottage was very well decorated and had all the homely facilities you could ask for and a high end spec! This cottage was immaculate and smelt amazing, as we walked in the sonos system was playing soft music, we thought this was such a lovely touch! The hot tub was an added bonus, very clean and well maintained. We used this more than once every day. Alan and Hollie are such lovely people and couldnt be more helpful. We would definitely recommend overlea farm to all our friends and family. Thank you Alan &Hollie Regards Adrian & Tracey xx
Beautiful property, so peaceful. not a sound on the nightime. Wished we could have stayed longer. Loads to do in the surrounding area. Would definately come back.
High quality accommodation. Fabulous location. Hot tub added something very special. Loved our time there and well definitely return as very relaxing venue. Thanks Alan and Holly
Richard
Beautiful cottage in the perfect location. Thanks Alan. I loved the small details that youd thought about like the fresh milk in the fridge and the loaf of bread on arrival. Also, providing tea bags, kitchen roll, aluminium foil etc. Not many properties bother with those. I loved having access to Netflix too. Im an Amazon Prime subscriber, so it was great to watch some different content. The hot tub was amazing after a day of hiking. My only suggestion would be to perhaps provide a chest of drawers in the bedroom as the one drawer in the wardrobe wasnt sufficient for my things. However, thats only a very minor thing! I expect Ill be coming back another year.
Robert
The cowshed in the peak district is a beautiful property with stunning views over the peaks. I highly recommend this place for a trip in the UK.
A perfect property set in very quiet and comfortable surroundings. Added luxury of a hot tub with great space to sit out and relax following a days walking with some lovely views of the countryside. Owners of the property are very friendly and have thought of everything to make this a great homely and place to stay. Highly recommended.
We stopped in the cowshed. Its a beautiful cottage and private. It was extremely clean as was the hot tub which was very relaxing after long walks. Alan and Holly are the perfect hosts. Would definitely recommend.
Patricia
An amazing cottage in a wonderful quiet location. The cottage has been decorated and furnished to a very high standard. The soft music playing as we opened the door for the first time made us feel so welcome. The cottage is situated in a very peaceful remote location but is in fact just a couple of miles from Hayfield where there are some lovely pubs. Walks start from right outside the door too. The hot tub, with wonderful views, was a bonus after a day out. We had a fantastic week and cannot wait to return. Highly recommended.
This is undoubtedly one of the best cottages we have ever had the pleasure to stay in. From the surround sound system with tablet, to the fantastically equipped kitchen and perfect hot tub, there is nothing we can say but it is the perfect rural retreat. Highly recommended!
Daniel
We had a brilliant stay at The Overlea Cowshed. The cottage is beautifully decorated and felt so homely. The log burner was a personal highlight as well as the wonderful rainfall shower. Alan and Holly were most welcoming and nothing was to much trouble. We truly felt very relaxed in the peaceful surroundings of Overlea Farm, it was a retreat away from the hustle and bustle of life back home but close enough to some great restaurants, picturesque towns and stunning views of the Peak District, we were spoilt for choice on things to do. We would absolutely stay again without question! We loved it!
We had an amazing time at Overlea Cowshed. The property was wonderful, warm and a fab hot tub after local walks aplenty. One of the best properties we've stayed in! Everything was perfect ! And hopefully will return.
We had a fantastic stay at overlea Cowshed. The property was very clean and was very well equipped and the location is superb for a relaxing and quiet break. The hot tub is an added bonus. We had a lovely Christmas break and would fully recommend this cottage and its location. There was also a lovely welcome basket with local produce on our arrival. Alan was also very helpful on our arrival. Everything was perfect.
The cottage was gorgeous! Such a fantastic place to stay to get away and relax!
Fantastic property, so lovely and cosy. Very private and has gorgeous views to enjoy from the fabulous hot tub! Can't wait to stay again!
Michael
Wonderful property, well furnished with everything we needed. Great to have a hot tub. Owners helpful when we needed a bit of information. Great access to local walks. Will recommend the property to our friends.
Ronald
When we walked through the door of the Cowshed, there was gentle background music playing. A lovely start to a stay in a most comfortable and tastefully decorated cottage. The cottage was spotlessly clean, and had everything that we needed. Relaxing in the hot tub after a days walking was lovely, and so peaceful. My only regret is that I have just remembered that we forgot to say how much we enjoyed and loved the cottage in the visitors book. So sorry.
Cottage was excellent, great location. Hot tub was perfect after long walks we were unfortunate with the weather as it rained a lot and there was no cover for the hot tub a gazebo would have been ideal other than that it was perfect
Victoria
The cottage was so beautiful! Everything we needed and more!
What an amazing place, we had a lovely week and will definitely be returning again.
