Ploony Hill Lodge Reviews

Roanna
Swings and Roundabouts for us. It could do with a few tweaks and I like to leave honest reviews with constructive criticism. Overall it was a nice quiet getaway with beautiful surroundings and nice walks including straight from the gate. Loved the big enclosed garden for our pooch who also loved the outside hot water tap after a walk in the muddy fields! The pizza oven was new for us so that was great fun and toasting marshmallows for super was a great treat! The underfloor heating was toasty and the kitchen was well equipped. It was decorated for Xmas and a bottle of tasty prosecco was a nice touch and a pint of milk also. Hot tub was nice, good windbreakerprivacy screen to pull across as it can feel like you are overlooked by the Cabin on the hill. Great that the hot tub had WiFi, only one speaker was working but still loud enough. So we had originally booked and paid for the Cabin at the top of the hill but was then contacted by Sykes to let us know that it wasnt actually available but the lodge was, so that was lucky! The photos need updating as it shows nice reclining sofas in the first half of the pictures and then changes to what they actually are in the second half of the pictures not reclining and not very comfortable unfortunately. We didnt find the mattress very comfy as it dipped a lot in the middle but everyones comfort is different. We were told on the day before arrival not to use the front door as it wasnt working properly and that it would be fixed after Xmas so hopefully thats all good now. We were left information to say no cushions were on the sofas etc or board games and dvds available due to Covid19, however we did find the board games and dvds in the utility room so a little bit confused by that. Shower head needed a good scrub to remove lime scale which was blocking up the holes. Water temperature of the shower was very temperamental, however owner was more than happy to change the shower and communicated well, however we decided it wasnt a massive drama so was happy for them to leave it over Xmas and hopefully its all good now. Log burner is always a favourite of ours, however a puddle of water seemed to form on the top of it which then constantly dripped on to the fire place. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

Peaceful location , with great hot tub . Heating once up to temp kept lodge cosy . Great communication from Lindsey for arrival day . No phone signal 3 so a really peaceful time . WiFi was good if needed . Logs ready for wood burner on arrival . The trackroad up to lodge needs to be taken slowly as it really needs a bit of attention . Garden was secure for our dog . Plenty of paths , bridleways to walk around with the dog also .
We have a wonderful and relaxing stay. Such friendly owners. We didn't venture far at all but just enjoyed the rest and relaxation. The hot tub was wonderful. The other lets are in sight, but it's very private, not an issue at all. The road is a bridleway so a bit bumpity but adds to the charm.
What a wonderful place. This is our first holiday where we haven't been out and about. We spent the whole time at the lodge, chilling out and resetting ourselves. We would go back, maybe even try one of the other lodges.
Kristi
Lindsey was so helpful from start to finish, even when we had a problem with our WiFi she came straight away to sort it out, so attentive. Can't wait to return! Thank you for an unforgettable holiday! Kristi and Hayden
Ploony lodge is a hidden gem, surrounded by wonderful scenery. The lodge was fab, modern but homely. It was clean and well equipped and very comfortable. The hot tub was a perfect way to relax and watch the night sky, it really was heaven. The large garden was very secure which was brilliant for our little pug. Lindseys communication was very helpful and the gift of wine was very much appreciated. My family really enjoyed our stay. Ploony lodge really does have the wow factor, we didnt want to leave. Thank you so much, take care Sian, Brian and Ashley. I

Beautiful lodge, perfect in every way for my family holiday. We loved the private location surrounded by trees & open fields. We were greeted with a bottle of wine on arrival & the owners of the property were at hand if ever we needed them. The lodge was clean & tidy & had everything we needed for a fun & relaxing holiday. The hot tub was the perfect way to unwind at the end of each day & a great way to get my teenagers away from technology!! We found everything in the lodge very easy to use such as the hot tub, the oven, the hobs, the washing machine etc. We loved that all the light switches were labelled too. The outdoor pizza oven was a real bonus & we used it twice during our stay to cook the most delicious home made pizzas. The kids enjoyed toasting marshmallows too. The lodge is in a very remote area so you do need to be prepared to drive a little but that was fine for us & exactly what we were looking for as we took our pups, one of which is very reactive so the more private the better! The only downside was the mile long drive up to the property which is incredibly bumpy but not really a problem. The garden was completely secure which was perfect for our frenchies. They had a wonderful time exploring the grounds & we felt completely relaxed that they were safe. We had access from our garden to many paths around the surrounding fields, & found a lovely little stream just out the back. We also found a fabulous walk just a mile out of the village of Bleddfa called Fishpools walk. It had free parking & the most stunning views as you walked up through Radnor Forest. During our stay we visited Griffin Lloyd shooting range for a great clay pigeon shooting experience, our children went on a fabulous full day hack on horse back across the Black Mountains at the Brecon Beacons with Tregoyd Mountain Riders. We went Go Karting at Herefordshire Raceway Karting which was so much fun, we visited the amazing Gigrin Red Kite feeding centre & we all had a brilliant time at the Severn Valley Quad Trekking experience just to name a few. These activities were all within an hours drive of the property. Gorgeous property, picturesque location & we would highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you Darren & Lindsey for being great hosts, we absolutely loved our stay & didnt want to go home.

Everything about the property was amazing and even better than expectation. Communication with the owners was excellent. I will definitely be revisiting at some point.
What a hidden gem! I wanted somewhere very remote, but with all of the facilities from home and ploony Lodge exceeded my expectations. I have two large but well behaved dogs and have to be careful where I book because either the owners won't allow them or the secure gardens aren't secure enough I didn't have to worry once! The access to the outdoors is overwhelming. We walked in the excess of 20 miles in a week and encountered 4 people, the stream out back was wonderful. I worried my two children may get bored but there was so much access to local walks, forests and the land that they weren't bored once. I booked to be able to completely relax and I haven't been able to relax that much for many years. The lodge is stunning, extremely clean and well equipped. Of course the hot tub was a lovely addition. Would highly recommend.

Peaceful, beautiful area. Very good facilities inside and outside. Great, helpful host.
We booked this lodge last minute for a weekend away . ..it lived up to the reviews everything was perfect...lodge was amazing, clean and had everything we needed! Beautiful surroundings! Would highly recommend and will most certainly be back! Thanks soo much Vicki & John O'Hara

Sorry I was not able to send a feedback just after our stay. We had a fantastic time, it was perfect , we loved the lodge with everything we needed. Very well situated. The lambing was a bonus for our grand daughter. We discover the area and it was very nice. The owners were very helpful and friendly. Thank you again fur a great week.
Michael
Beautiful log cabin with Beautiful views. If you need a peaceful and restful holiday then this is for you
What a fabulous stay at Plooney Lodge! We wanted somewhere remote and cosy with a touch of modest luxury and this is what we got. The approach to the lodge, up a long snowy trail surrounded by beautiful fields, made the anticipation of getting there all the more exciting. The lodge was tastefully done inside and out. It had everything needed, the furniture and setup suited the family just fine. The hot tub was perfect! We loved going in there every day with our eldest daughter. She thought it was the best part of the holiday and it was definitely part of ours! The heated floors inside made it all the cosier. What made the holiday exceptional was the communication and effort put in by Lindsey. She got in touch before we arrived to check what we needed. She, and her children ! brought us extra items dog towels, toys, childrens books etc to make things easier and more enjoyable for us. It was my 40th Birthday whilst we were there and we came back from our day trip to find some very thoughtful and lovely Birthday decorations and cakes! She even bought a bottle of wine, all of which went down a treat. We would go back in heartbeat. There are so many walks to do in the area and so much more to explore. Highly recommend!
This is the second time we've stayed at Plooney the first being in the cottage and now in the lodge, this was a wonderful place to stay as it was very clean and comfortable and everything we needed was in place, I would highly recommend staying here especially if you want peace and quiet.
Alison
We stayed at Plooney lodge the week before Christmas and had the extreme of weathers from 6 cold and icy, snowing to 12 degrees and sunny. Arriving the lodge was easy to find with directions provided, and the owners warned of the ice but had gritted the main pathway at the lodgethank you the lodge was lovely and cosy warm and welcoming with a Christmas tree and some decorations. The inside is bigger than in the pictures and lots of space. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked every night when we were there. The hot tub was great and lots of space with good powerful jets and we did some star gazing and listening to owls whilst in it. The log fire was great especially on the really cold days and was easy to source more logs. Our 2 dogs loved the garden and walks nearby and we saw a heron nearby a couple of times. Overall a really relaxing peaceful holiday and we hope to return in 2023.
Great property, very secluded. Good facilities, spacious and very clean. Fantastic relaxing break. Hot tub was brilliant.
Elizabeth
A lovely place to stay, beautiful surrounding countryside walks. The owners response was very prompt when told about an issue. The floor on arrival was quite dirty, which was why we didnt give 5 stars. But overall e we had a lovely stay.
Alison
Had a lovely and relaxing holiday. Very peaceful and the dogs loved it.
Nicola
The lodge was very well equipped lovely standard of finish, very quiet and peaceful, perfect if all you want to do is relax, and the local pub is lovely too.
Great stay loved how remote the property was, very well equipped but unfortunately No Fan, obviously we stayed the week of heat wave. Recommend anyone who wants a little peace to stay.
Richard
Absolutely everything about the accommodation and location was perfect. Lindsey was the perfect host and made sure the stay was spot on. We chose this site because we have two dogs who could run freely and securely. They have never been able to run free before and they loved it. Since returning home they are depressed and are obviously really disappointed to find out that this wasnt a permanent move. Never mind, all the more reason to book again and enjoy the local walks and the peace and tranquillity.
Everything was better than expected Spacious lodge had everything we needed Definitely best lodge we have stayed in
One of the very best we have visited, beautiful location, with excellent facilities. Lindsey and Darren were very helpful and friendly. We will book again in the future.
Very well equipped lodge, nice and spacious, very clean. Setting is beautiful and peaceful. Wifi was good enough that we could stream things on NetflixDisney. There was no phone signal, but that wasn't a surprise or an issue for us. We didn't find the beds very comfortable and we couldn't get the pizza oven to work, but everything else was great. Hot tub was lovely, and we found the sheep watching us very amusing. It wasn't clear from the listing that there was another lodge on the same site, but it was far enough away that we weren't too bothered. Some treeshedge between them for a bit more privacy would be nice. We would definitely consider coming back to this lodge because it was just what we needed.
The property was fantastic. Everything we needed to hand and well equipped and comfortable. The walks from the property were great with added value following a chat with the owner Darren enabling a visit to a really nice real ale pub on one walk. We were there in March which is lambing season and it was great to see the lambs gambolling in the fields nearby. This is a real Gem.
We loved this place and will hope to come back again next year. Perfect place for a chilled time away. Amazing for dogs my boy loved it. Everything you need for cooking, chilling and having a good time. The hot tub was perfect for to chill out on a night. The bed was so comfy. I just can't wait to come back.
The most perfect location to get away from it all! Surrounded by land and wildlife it's such a relaxing place. A fully equipped kitchen and great supermarket with a huge selection of everything is only 10 minutes away. Plenty of space and a great hot tub too! The owners are lovely and happy to help if you need anything. Would recommend to anyone! We are hoping to go back in the summer.
Absolutely loved this place. Ideal for our family of 4 and our dog. Garden is totally secure, lovely walks, dog friendly pub in Llandrindod Llanerch Inn. Hot tub was added bonus and is covered so we used it every day, even in January in the rain. Have just booked to go back in October.cant wait! DiolchThanks x

The lodge is in a fabulous location and it was a nice relaxing stay. The lodge was very clean on arrival and had all the information we needed. This is our second visit to the lodge and look forward to returning again soon. The view is picturesque and a great back drop while in the hot tub. We would recommend this lodge for anyone as you could relax and also do lots of walking too.
Great place to stay nice and quiet the owners were great so helpful. The only issue we had was flies. Overall we were very impressed with the lodge and would love to go again
Plooney hill lodge is in a secluded location absolutely stunning views. Great place to unwind from busy day to day life. It has a fab hot tub to relax in after a long walk in the hills. Totally recommended for perfect chill out.
Great place to stay peaceful and quiet and excellent facilities thoroughly recommended!
Kirsty
Very peaceful cabin, in the middle of countryside, lots of local walks to do with and without children. It was warm, very clean and there was a bottle of rose waiting for us which was a nice touch. The facilities need to be updated a little, one sofa is broken, the washing machine doesn't work properly, the hot tub water level was low and not as warm or powerful as we would have hoped.
So peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed the location and lodge so much. Hot tub was perfect.
