Brackenburgh Lodge At Calthwaite Hall Reviews

Nice area with friendly people. Only 15 minutes from Penrith centre. Would definitely come back
Deborah
Extremely clean lodge. Lovely views and loved the various peacocks that came to visit. Plenty of storage space in bedrooms including dressing table area in both bedrooms with mirrors and sockets. Comfy seating indoors and out. Hugh towels provided, plus oven glove, cloths and tea towels. Only downside was access to hot-tub which was accessed climbi ng down into it at its deepest part which if you have mobility problems was impossible. Lovely grounds and area and locals we spoke to very friendly.

A review with no dog and with a dog. No dog, great lodge, very clean and equipped well. Beds a little uncomfortable. Location was a bit remote 30 mins to nearest lake. With a dog. I wouldnt come here with a dog. The grass area you had is around the back of the lodge, nothing opens directly onto it without having to walk around the lodge. There is n o walkable exercise for your dog, you cannot walk around the grounds and you are a little contained.

Excellent Stay at a beautiful lodge. People are also so friendly and couldnt be any more helpful. The Globe Inn pub, is a stones throw from the lodges and Id highly recommend. They also couldnt be any more helpful and friendly. The food and drink there was also first class. Will definitely be back at some point.

This lodge is perfect! A little touch added when we arrived to a beautiful holiday home. Its spacious and has a stunning view. The only down fall for us was most of the places we visited were an hours drive away as this lodge is north of the district, having never been before we were unaware of this but that can't be helped. Would definitely stay a gain!

Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 10 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 15 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 16 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 21 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
