Coachmans Country Cottage Reviews

Dan
We visited in late January 2024. Coachman's Cottage is one of three buildings. The Big House was originally the Rectory for the nearby church and the cottage was used for servant accommodation. It's located about 17 miles north east of Penrith and is delightfully isolated. The cottage is well equipped. Everything is properly maintained and all workRead mores perfectly. Underfloor heating throughout has to be turned right down if you fire up the log burner, it gets very warm otherwise. Hide

Excellent property, wonderful holiday, 10/10! This was a beautiful cottage, much bigger than it looks on the photos too. The view is just gorgeous, sitting in the hot tub or on the sun loungers looking at that is wonderful. The owners are extremely lovely and made sure we had everything we needed; we ended up chatting for about an hour and having aRead more tour of the manor! It's a lovely private property and the village a 5 min walk away is lovely. Definitely recommend and I think we'll be back! Hide

This cosy, comfortable cottage is set in a perfect location for exploring the Lakes & Pennines. The view from the living room is wonderful & we loved watching the animals, particularly the llamas, alpacas & emu grazing contentedly - really added to the sense of tranquility. This is such a peaceful place to relax & the hosts are very knowledgeable & helpful. Highly recommend.

Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 17 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 18 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 24 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 25 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
