Woodside Lodge Reviews

Lindsay
Lovely lodge good size and felt very homely.
Very happy with our accommodation, very clean and comfortable. .only disappointment was the bins on site were never emptied enough so regular build up of rubbish which looked awful !!!!
Joanne
The inside of the lodge was beautiful however, the seating area outside were constantly dirty covered in bits falling from the trees which I know is noones fault just unfortunate! The walkways within the fence had leaves piled up which would blow everywhere, The hot tub was spot on. All in all the things which I have mentioned did not impact our stay. The main thing for us was the inside which was lovely and clean
Richard
We were very pleased with how spacious the accommodation was. It's location within the White Cross Bay complex the outside space views and tranquility and the hot tub were all excellent.
Lovely lodge. Very clean and had everything we needed. We will definitely be returning.
Very much like previous guests to this lodge I found the state of repair a bit poor, the worst bit has to be the sign on the ensuite door asking us not to use the shower as the floor is collapsing which was mentioned by previous guests and obviously nothing had been done about this probably as the lodge was full every week, some prior notice would have been nice. Also the fence to the side is falling apart, again previously mentioned and not repaired. The owner advertises site internet from the park but this non existent, I complained to the park about this but they didnt fix it during our stay. The lodge overall was clean and comfortable and is only let down by the poor maintenance.
Stayed 7 nights at Pony Meadow 12. Lovely lodge, comfy beds, great 2 tier decking, huge hot tub. No wifi instructions, but we found the router behind the sofa. TV in the bedroom was not working on our arrival, not an issue as we wouldn't use it anyway. Arrived back from a hike on day 3 to realise someone had been in and replaced the TV thank you but would have been nice to have been informed. No BBQ slab as stated so had to improvise. Some of the fairy lights on the decking need replaced however the main issue is the fence and spindles. In desperate need of paint and repair. Our terrier was fine but I dont think I would have been comfortable we had a large breed dog who could easily knock it over. I had read previous reviews and the fence has been mentioned several times with the promise of it being repaired. Such a shame that this hasnt been done prior to the summer season. That said we would stay here again, the park was ideally situated and the marina was great during the heat wave. Brockhole outdoor attractions is just next door, bus stop outside, woods ideal for short dog walks. One other thing to add is although we visited during the nice weather there was one occasion that it was windy through the night and the tree behind bashed off the bedroon window all night long....
The position of woodland lodge was very good although it did look a bit tired if the decking area was painted it would look a lot better!
Andrew
Really enjoyed our stay and would come back. The reasons for only 3 stars are small things like there is loads of crumbs and dirt between the cushions on the sofa and and empty juice can under it which we found when getting the ball for the dog so the cleaning is not very thorough. Maybe having some basic condiments supplied would be a nice touch too, like salt, pepper and sugar. There is a hole in the floor under the lino in the ensuite bathroom which didn't cause any problems but needs repaired. The outside space is great and secure for the dog but the fences could do with a few basic repairs and a lick of paint and a clean would greatly improve the look. With all of the above mentioned, I'd still like to say that we would come back and have recommended to family and friends.
Couldn't, fault the lodge interior, everything we needed was there. Outside could do with some attention, fencing needs repair, hot tub cover was broken off and loose, because the vinyl was torn the padding was waterlogged and heavy to lift for my elderly folks when I wasn't around. Don't want to sound like a whinger Just constructive criticism . Site facilities were great, overall we had a nice break.
Had a great holiday frist week of Easter halfterm. Was very clean plenty of utensils in kitchen as I'm one that prefers to cook rather than always eat out. Only issue I found witch are only minor is dining chairs need updating as some bolts kept coming out, the oven door doesn't shut properly & had gas smell so got headaches everytime we used oven did contact reception sent someone straight out to look they said its meant to be like that witch i know its not took long time to cook stuff & had to use a brush to shut it properly. The other think is the lodge needs to have a dimmer for the lights as they were way to bright & kept flickering I'm epileptic so definitely not good having flickering lights so had to always have them off when got dark, there is only 1 small table lamp in frontroom area didn't give much light so had to go to town & buy some cheap lamps. Hottub was fantastic after a days hiking 1 of the jets wasn't working but the hottub man knew & the part was on order but still had enough bubbles for us to feel the effects. We have rebooked already with you for our next holiday in july 2023 same park but different lodge.
Great location but was a bit disappointed in the TV not being on for the first couple of days as this was driving us mad with the little boy constantly moaning about wanting to watch TV.
Andrew
Everything was clean, tidy and very comfy, we loved the Christmas decorations and tree and would say the only issue we had was the mat we didnt use the hot tub as even though the water seemed clean and was maintained by the hot tub guy there were leaves and dirt settled in the seats and base of the tub.
Heather
We really enjoyed our stay at Woodside Lodge including our shih tzu! The location of the lodge by the woods is lovely. The lodge itself is cosy, the hot tub is great and we would love to stay here again in the future. Suggestions for improvements would be....the dining table and chairs were bulky and dated ...may benefit from a smaller set for example with benches that easily tuck under. The press down button on the toaster was missing and was a bit difficult to use and as a dog owner the most important suggestion would be to secure the fencing better between the lodge and the path towards the woods and the gate to the lodge too.
We were impressed with the cleanliness of the Lodge on our arrival. The location was excellent along with the utensils available for use. We had a fantastic holiday break and would not hesitate to rebook again
We had a great stay at Woodside Lodge, it's a fab location at the end of the avenue and surrounded by woods. The enclosed outside space is ideal for a dog. We enjoyed meals outside on the lovely big table in the glorious sunshine. Would definitely recommend and will return. Comfy beds too.
Dennis
Lovely lodge and location
Hannah
The lodge itself was fantastic the inside was immaculate and well maintained. Dining table and chairs where a little worn and looked a little unsightly. Bedrooms where comfortable and lots of room which is a rarity in some lodges. Bathrooms where immaculate too. The park itself was fantastic! Facilities where brilliant and staff very friendly. Highly recommend the food in the on site pub. However . The outside of the lodge was a disgrace. The lodge itself was covered in cobwebs and tree debris that had been collecting over time. These where not a few fresh little cobwebs. The decking area was filthy too again not been touched. The table and chairs where disgusting. The table hadnt seen a cloth in a long g time. Simple things such as a quick sweep over the outside of the lodge and a mop of the decking would have made the world of difference but it really let it down. Hot tub area again although the hot tub was great the area surrounding was dirty. The gate was broken and therefore we couldnt let the dogs out without watching them. The fence is leaning way over too and is very unsteady.
Mr Patricia Mathie
Had a wonderful few days in the Lodge. Would have loved to stay longer. The lodge was clean and very comfortable and a great location. The hot tub control had the wrong cover so wouldn't work properly but the guys explained and then was all OK. Will definitely be back What did you enjoy most about your stay? On arrival to Whitecross bay the reception staff older lady was very rude and abrupt, not helpful at all. We arrived at our lodge situated I. A corner of the site out of the way, perfect location especially if you take dogs as it is by the dog walk in the forest! The lodge was beautifully decorated with a comfy sofa, cushions and bean bag, all cooking facilities, utensils and pans to hand. The hot tub was an added bonus, cleaned as we arrived and prior to leaving. The downsides to the lodge I found was the bedroom carpet was dirty and clearly had been urinated on by previous animals. The lodge had everything you need for a comfortable stay. We have stayed on this park several times previously and always found the lodges to be cleaned to a high standard.Unfortunately this time our accommodation hadn't been cleaned very well before our arrival. However this didn't spoil our holiday and we had a lovely break. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The use of the hot tub. What one experience e.g attraction, walk, day out would you recommend for our future guests? We enjoyed a few drinks in The Craft Baa in Windermere. They serve good food too.
Mr Gordon Lindsay
Having stayed previously I was disappointed that little maintenance has been done since our last visit 18 months previously, the external decking in all areas need to be reviewed and especially cleaned, the entire balustrade is covered in webs. The location on the park is one of the best but the forest has had new additions that makes the side of the cabin rather busy with foot traffic so the hot tub isn't as private as before. The cabin has all the comforts of home and enough seating etc for a large family with guests. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Ample external seating when you have guests especially with kids as it has 2 decking areas. What one experience e.g attraction, walk, day out would you recommend for our future guests? We have just returned from another wonderful holiday in a wonderful lodge in the wonderful White Cross Bay in the most wonderful Lake District. We always have a fabulous time kayaking, paddleboarding, cycling kids, and walking the lakes and fells. Just wish we could stay for ever. Thank you to Mark and the team once again always s pleasure to deal with you. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Everything
Mrs Pauline Jones
The lodge is lovely and very comfortable, we chose the location as we are familiar with whitecross bay and wanted to be nearer to the dog walking woods. The hot tub was fab especially with all the snow we had, it was a great start to the day and a relaxing end of the day treat. The lodge has everything you need and more. The only niggle we had was the cleaning, just looked like it was a quick rush job, we didnt let it spoil our weekend but i did have to wipe down some areas. Also the outside, there was left over half eatten dog toys. We didnt want to make a fuss by asking someone to come out as we wanted to start our break as soon as we arrived However we wouldnt let this put us off booking again as we were more than happy with the location and lodge itself. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Hot tub What one experience e.g attraction, walk, day out would you recommend for our future guests? boat lake tours from brockhole

We spent Christmas 2017 at this lodge 22nd27th December. All 5 adults absolutely loved their stay. Beautiful lodge in a nice spot. Family enjoyed the hot tub. Only negative was the decking as although there are some anti slip strips going to the door the rest of the decking becomes like ice once wet. I think someone could have a serious fall so would be better to coat the decking of have the anti slip strips all over. Beautifully done inside with everything we needed. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Hot tub and nice site What one experience e.g attraction, walk, day out would you recommend for our future guests? Lakeside was nice and we enjoyed the steam train

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 4 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 10 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 15 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 18 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 22 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 23 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
