Park Hill Reviews

Anthony
This was our second visit to Park Hill and had another fantastic week. It is perfect for family get togethers. There are a lot of problems with the building itself that havn't been remedied since last year like the cold shower in bedroom 4 but we managed with the more than adequate bath. The main gate was also not working but managable manually. On the plus side the site maintenance man Paul is amazing. He contacted us early on to ask if we had any issues so we did mention that the indoor hot tub had a very strong chlorine smell. He came out right away and did a full clean of the tub which solved the problem. He also emptied our rubbish bins from the house and took them all down to the entrance for emptying the next morning. He was very friendly and approachable so we didn't mention the other little things as they did not undermine our holiday. The house is beautiful and the lodge and bungalow a bonus, all being warm and comfortable. We watched Christmas films in the amazing cinema room and enjoyed the treats that were left out for us on arrival. The views are outstanding, yet it is possible to walk into Clitheroe and back if you want to book a meal out or visit the castle and shops as we did. Plenty of parking available in the extensive grounds and dog friendly too. Situated overlooking the sculpture park with amazing walks along the river it is perfect for families. We watched the local farmers Christmas tractor run from the balcony, it was amazing. This property is amazing all year round. Great value for money too.
Superb house! Bedrooms all nicely appointed and great communal spaces. Would definitely stay again
Brilliant property, loads of space in the main house and the outbuildings. .the cinema room gym and sauna are great. Close to town, tesco and liddlenfew mins drive away also. Would deffo come back..
Hi, I stayed 5 nights with family and it was brilliant . Very clean, comfortable and a good location. The garden is huge neat and clean. The jacuzzi was very relaxing awesome accommodation probably the best in whole of England. I met Paul the gardener he was keeping on top of the garden, he was very helpful to assist if we needed anything, lovely guy.

Property had many safety and maintenance issues for basic things such as outdoor locks, toilets, showers, fridge, heating, etc. and neither the owners nor the emergency contact numbers that were provided were responsive for any of the issues throughout the stay via any of phone calls, text messages and WhatsApp messages. We raised this as a complaint after the stay in response to which we received a response that made no sense and was false and misleading on many points. The owner is oblivious to the condition of the property and totally brushed the concerning issues aside with no diligence or correspondence with us. A very odd and concerning practice for a booking at this value. Would not recommend booking unless you want to risk a poorly maintained property and a getaway ruined.

A beautiful property, lovely views, super amenities within the house, hot tub ... A beautiful property, lovely views, super amenities within the house, hot tub and sauna a great bonus and not forgetting the cinema room, we celebrated my daughters 30th birthday, party room and bar just made it so special for her, would definitely recommend and will definitely return

Absolutely beautiful property. We spent our Christmas here, the whole family & it was decorated with trees in each room, Christmas lights and a lovely touch of a welcome pack was left on the kitchen side for the adults & kids. Chocolates, biscuits, selection boxes & a Christmas card. Such a nice touch! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Park Hill. The kids loved the cinema room! Its a stunning property & we only have a few bits of minor improvements that could be made the ovens could be bigger just because of the size of property sleeps a lot of people with not much oven room & the hoover wasnt great so we struggled to get some dog hairs from the carpet before our departure. The chlorine levels in the hot tub were too high as they bleached one of our towels. There was also a small leak in the room leading to the cinema room when it rained heavily this didnt affect our stay at all but wanted to let you know in case it leads to a worse leak. Other than that, stunning property for the whole family to spend Christmas together & would definitely recommend. Thank you!
Anthony
Beautiful house & location. Plenty of room for large family group or get together. The party room is amazing, bar & kareoke an added touch. Cinema room is out of this world, although the Sky dips in and out, nothing that stopped us enjoying the experience. Well equipped kitchen & huge dining area. Jacuzzi & sauna a little out dated but perfectly usable. Gym well equipped. A few niggles like window not shutting properly in bedroom 3, causing draught and lukewarm showers in main house but plenty of accomodation in the adjacent cottage & lodge. These seperate buildings are amazing & spacious. The views are breath taking, garden large & private. Would stay again without doubt. Sammy looked after us so well and made sure everything was perfect. The Christmas trees & decorations were a lovely touch. Oh also....we were greeted with complimentory wine & festive goodies including selection boxes for the children......thouraghly recommend Park Hill!
The house is Amazing, we had the best week for a 50th celebration. Everyone who arrived had the WOW reaction. In the main house the kitchen is huge and very well stocked with every appliance and utensil you could think of. The bedrooms in all houses are all clean and tidy as are the bathrooms. Hot tub and Sauna were clean and easy to use. It has a very well stocked gym with lots of equipment. Cinema room is very impressive and the instructions for use are comprehensive and straight forward. The main WOW factor is definately the Party room with Karaoke stage. Beautiful Views in the daytime and brilliant to party at night with the drinks bar complete with fridges and ice machine. The gardens are beautiful with rabbits and birds everywhere and the outdoor seating are looks great we visited in December so sadly couldnt use but in the summer it would be great There is a lovely ribble valley walk right on the doorstep and Clitheroe is a 1015 min walk. Also close to Waddington which is beautiful. Paul & Sammy who look after the property are brilliant, they kept in contact constantly to make sure everything went well and we know how to use all of the facilities and heating etc.
The property is described as being luxurious but the ony things luxurious about it was the space, the cinema room and the views. As per previous reviews, the whole property is outdated but we could have lived with that except that there was a lot of things broken and not as described in the info. When we arrived on the Friday the beds in the Lodge were not made up properly, they should have been 2 superkings but were seperated in to twins. The twin beds upstairs had no duvet covers, pillows or sheets and were in the living area which it doesn't show it in the photos and makes it sound like there is three bedrooms. I called the three numbers left on the info sheets and left messages for two of them and the other Pauls no rang out. I didn't receive a call back from any of them. There was a table broken in the cottage which was a dangerous health hazard and the shower in the master bedroom was set to scalding hot and couldn't be changed. I reported these issues to Sykes on the Sunday and fair enough someone did come out on the Monday to fix the table but the plumber didn't come till the Wednesday and said there was an issue with the thermostat which he couldn't fix there and then so for the whole week we could only use the jets which aren't any good for washing hair. We also let the plumber know that the ensuite handheld shower head in the lodge was leaking and the toilet seat was broken. He said he couldn't fix those but would report back to the owners but we didn't hear anything more about those. The hot tub had a funny smell to it which was not very pleasant and the whole area round there smells musty. The cottage also smelt musty. Some of the bed sheets did not fit the single beds properly and the bed in the master bedroom is not the same as in the picture and is not a superking size bed. It had two mattresses on it and so the top one kept sliding off so didn't make for a good nights sleep and as a result my partner ended up with a bad back. While the main garden is kept well, the small yards at the back of the main house and the cottage were not maintained and could do with tidying up. The patio area outside of the side doors where the sun loungers are is also scruffy and uneven which makes it unsafe to walk on. It would also be useful to have a washing line or clothes horse to dry clothes outside which would also help reduce the musty smell. There are many other things I could mention that needs sorting or fixing but it would take too long. I wouldn't normally moan this much but the fact that we paid just under 8000 for the week, I would expect the house to be immaculate and for everything to be working correctly. There are many thing that can be sorted quickly such as new bedding as the current ones are quite old and all pillows were very flat. I would also suggest the owners asking the council for more bins as they aren't all picked up every week so we ended up having to put recycling in black bin liners next to the bins due to them being full. Due to previous reviews I had contacted Sykes with some concerns prior to the holiday but was reassured that those issues were sorted. We noticed that the house is up for sale so just get the impression the owners aren't going to bother sorting the issues out or updating the property. I would also like to know how often Sykes vist the properties they advertise to make sure they are living up to the descriptions which this property clearly isn't.

Everything was very nice! The facilities were very good and enough for everyone to enjoy. Our only down side was the cinema room. The instructions were too long winded to use. We simply couldnt work out how to turn the projector on regardless of following the instructions. A simple on button would have been better. But over all a big thumbs up!
Park hill itself is on beautifull private grounds with plenty of space for ... Park hill itself is on beautifull private grounds with plenty of space for everyone Facilities were brilliant kids loved the cinema room took a while to work out how to switch it on finally worked it out The hot tub downstairs had some very strong chemical in it couldnt stay in there more than 10 mins got to my throat also changed the colour of our clothes we used the one upstairs which was brilliant The house itself very out dated especially the bathrooms no locks in the bathrooms apart from one doors dont close properly showers werent great either Beds were comfy but the bed linen didnt look fresh at all bed linen was so worn out and torn which put us off The main bedroom was lovely but had a unpleasent smell to it coming from outside Outdoors the bin area had so much rubbish all around the bins there is no light in the sauna room as mentioned in the previous feedback so we were unable to use it All the taps are rusty Being a regular holiday maker and paying the amount we paid the house felt a big let down Needs an update
The property itself was perfect for our family, with the additional cottage lodge. Things to feedback The instructions everywhere were brilliant and really helped out with using the various technology The drain smell in the kitchen sauna hot tub area made these facilities unusable for the stay. The smell was really bad The Cottage was full of dead moths and flies which needed to be cleaned up there was dog poo in the garden which one of the kids stood in this should have been checked cleaned up. BBQ area was quite dirty The jaccuzi in the master suite the plug hole seemed to leak and the water went down really quickly. When you tried to top up the water the water ran cold and you couldnt fill the tub up with hot water
Everything needs a little TLC. Starting to look old and dated. Lights popping all the time causing fuses to trip. No hot water on final day due to constant problems with fuse box.
Teresa
WOW WOW WOW took our breath away on arrival. An absolute gem property . Perfect for our family get together. The house looks much better than the pictures. So much to do and so much room to spread out. Views were amazing from the house and there were lovely walks too. We saw rabbits within the grounds everyday. We will be booking to return in the future
Nicola
Our stay at Parkhill was amazing from start to finish, we stayed as a group of 18 and it was a surprise for my Mums 50th, as she arrived and we drove up the drive to be greeted by family and friends waving from the veranda it was a great surprise for my Mum, the perfect property for such occasions. The property has lots of facilities to keep everybody entertained, our youngest guest was 7 years old and eldest 75 and everybody enjoyed their stay at Parkhill. The house does need to be modernised in certain areas however this did not take away from the luxury feel the property offers. We are already looking to book again!
Philip
Park Hill was everything we expected and more. Externally the views and location was breath taking. The ground floor definitely had the wow factor and the leisure and entertainment facilities were brilliant. All the bedrooms were clean and well appointed. The layout of the property for cooking, dining, drinking, TV watching and especially the karaoke stage are well thought out and ideal for large family friends groups wanting a good time. However, the following minor factors, although not affecting our 5 rating for the property are something for you to consider, as other people may see these as to the detriment of their stay. The oven in the kitchen was small when catering for 18 people lots of hob space and other cooking facilities though. The drain smell reported in other reviews although not particularly distracting to ourselves was continually prevalent around the utility room and master ensuite throughout our stay? The light in the sauna does not work and so a potential danger of tripping when entering such a dark space? However, wishing to finish on a positive note we enjoyed our stay so much that we will undoubtedly look to book this property again in the future with no qualms whatsoever.
Hayley
It was quite dirty including pots pans and oven trays. Had to re wash everything before we could use it. Dog hairs everywhere!! Most hairs need replacing as they were brokeand we were scared to sit on them.
Lauren
We stayed at ParkHill from the 512 of November, there was 13 of us in total and it was honestly outstanding. We had waited around a year and a half for this holiday due to Covid pushing it back but we all said we wouldnt of changed a thing and it was worth the wait. The clubparty room was amazing and we were on the karaoke stage every night! The house had a luxury feel throughout especially the master bedroom. We will definitely be coming again, were all already discussing to book again for next year. The only recommendations we would have would be a possible pool table to top it off but other than that wouldnt change it! No other houses like this compares. Thank you for having us!
Had a great time at Park hill, 15 of us living for a week in a fantastic place consisting of 3 separate properties with more than enough space for all of us. Paul was on hand to look after us when a couple of issues did arise with the indoor hot tub which unfortunately he wasnt able to fix which meant we couldnt use it for the week and the Internet was very intermittent which caused some issues with SKY. Other than that though its a fantastic place for a large gathering of family and friends with lots of beautiful places to visit near by. The main house could do with a bit of work done on it but that didnt really affect our break. Would definitely recommend even with a few minor problems.
Anne Louise
Overall experience was excellent. The property is in need of some tlc but that doesnt stop it being a lovely party house. There were a couple of issues we rented all 3 properties and asked that the bedrooms all be made as doubles was told this was not a problem but 1 bedroom in the main house was a twin and all 3 in the lodge were to. Couldnt use the amazing shower in the master bedroom as the water ran so hot, which was surprising as there was no hot water in the lodge!! I tried calling to report this from 8am Saturday got a message back Saturday evening saying a plumber would be out late morning early afternoon Sunday, in fairness he did arrive and fixed the hot water in the lodge but not the shower in the master bedroom. Overall we had an amazing stay but would suggest things like the water and showers are checked by the turn round staff so they can get the process of sorting them moving before guests arrive.
Urvashi
Pictures just don't do justice. It's a fantastic place, secure and beautiful, for a large group. Clitheroe attractions & Forest of Bowland are fairly near by and it's also not far from Lakes or Dales. I had a group of 18 including 3 kids, and we had a blast during our stay at Parkhill. Hot Tub, Jacuzzi, Gym, Karaoke, Cinema hall, BBQ corner are all great set up and provide a good variety for everyone to be happy & engaged. The Kitchen & Living are great size and housed us all very comfortably. OwnersPoint of contacts were very approachable too, and helped with most of our requests. We even got a lovely welcome surprise on arrival. Thank you for that. xx The week we stayed over the WiFi was playing up a bit, but I guess that was down to Sky having some problems in the area. The only negative feedback I'll give, but not deduct any scores for it, is the fact that the property is aging and needs a bit of a touch up repair in places. But this didn't bother us too much. Overall we had a fantastic holiday.
Kathryn
Pictures dont do this justice the property was even better than expected. We all had a fantastic Time . Unfortunately the projector in the cinema room stopped working mid film and the tv in the bath in the master bedroom did not work but it didnt ruin our weekend. The hot tub and sauna were well used by our group as well as the karaoke! I think the check in time is a little late at 5pm considering what you are paying for the weekend but appreciate it is a huge property to clean. Would definitely stay again and recommend to family and friends.
Stella
This is a jaw dropping house to stay in. The party room is so unique and the gym and cinema are brilliant. Lovely carpet in the main bedroom which you can sink into. Underfloor heating in the party room. Very helpful manager of the property who is always available by text.
We've just got back from a fabulous weekend at Parkhill. We were a little apprehensive before going due to some negative reviews on here however when we arrived at the house it did nothing but exceeded our expectations! Everything is as described and everything was in full working order, the hot tub was very easy to use and there were instructions for everything technical speakers, heating system, jacuzzi bath etc which were very easy to follow. The house was spotless when we arrived and had everything you could ever want and more and we will 100 be returning in the future!
Park Hill was everything we hoped for and more. We went for my husband's 40th and it was the perfect party pad. In particular, the party room and cinema are incredible and the karaoke and bar just made it for us. Also, the views are great. We were there in winter, but it has great outdoor space for the summer time and the upstairs balcony is a prime spot. The kitchen is a bit dated and had some bits missing like a teapot, sharp knives, corkscrew and the crockery and glassware was a bit mismatched, but nothing serious and it didn't spoil our weekend! We would all love to go back.
Melissa
Our stay at Park Hill was amazing! We cannot fault anything. The facilities in the house were brilliant and we made full use of the party room, cinema and hot tub. We all had an amazing time celebrating my 40th birthday and we would definitely stay again!
Alison
We had a missing key at the cottage, but the staff did everything they could to sort it out, even though a key couldn't be found we were offered a locksmith and also some really thick cable ties to keep it locked so we didn't worry, and the owner sent a bottle of champagne for our troubles and to celebrate my birthday with, which was very thoughtful and This is a perfect party venue! We have visited Clitheroe many times and love it, and this house was fabulous too, we couldn't have asked for a better venue for my 50th birthday celebrations. The house was everything we expected and more, fabulous bar, fabulous party room, loads of space for us all, just one small criticism which is very rare to hear from me we were too hot!!! The indoor jaccuzi wasn't working which was a shame as we would have liked to have used it, but it certainly didn't detract from our experience!
Maurice
Looking forward to going back for another stay. The Housekeeper and owner are very helpful.
We all had a brilliant time and will be returning in the future. Have had so many messages from people on my social media so I need to get booking ASAP before someone else gets in before us.
Had a great week celebrating my dads birthday. The place was really spacious and facilities fabulous. We would certainly consider returning in the future. Only downside was the place needs a little tlc, if this is sorted then it will be amazing.
Steven
Everything was great, had a wonderful Holiday. The place was amazing. Place needs Some TLC, a lot of the mattresses need replacing especially in master bedroom, past use by date. Pillows like wafers and stained. Bedding and sheeting could do with been renewed. In the cinema looks like bulb in projector needs replacing, I know in instructions it says to press back on instructions when it mentions on screen that replacement needed, what is not told that it cuts out after a couple of hrs and you have to wait a good while before restarting. The hot tub and sauna is great and the kitchen works well and is well supplied with pans etc. We did have a great time but a look at the little thinks would have made it much better. Anyone going here will love it but after a couple of days will notice the little things that could be done. Call me lazy if you wish but dragging the bins all the way down the drive and to the end of the road after paying 3300.00 for week peeved me a little. You probably notice with other feed backs it seems to be the same kind of things. Place could do with been shut for a couple of months and some time and money spent on it, then it would be not just great but amazing. People please don't be put of by this the place is still a great place to get together, we had a great bonding experience getting all the family's together.
Andrew
Everything. The house was excellent very suited for large groups for birthday parties etc. However we think it need some tlc
Park Hill is a great place for a large gathering, as previous reviews have stated, some refurbishment investment is needed. We found that particularly the electrics were suspect, with many of the features upstairs jacuzzi bath & TV in main suite bathroom, the sauna downstairs all seemed to blow fuses when used. The Jack 'n' Jill bathroom toilet upstairs in main house has a macerator apparently and broke after a few days, so that bathroom was decommissioned for the rest of our stay. There was a pipe leak at the entrance to the property that was depositing a foul smelling leakage. That's the downside but I have to say that Paul the housekeeper was very attentive, very pleasant, easily contactable and arranged for a plumber to look at the toilet within 24 hours, and also explained that the pipe leakage was in hand but contractors were booked up. The above may sound negative but there is still a lot to enjoy at this property, the White room, Party Room and Cinema Room were great features, the views are terrific and generally the property very comfortable. The availability of the Lodge and Cottage as self contained units was a real plus. Its within easy walk of Clitheroe town centre and other small villages with great pubs and restaurants. Overall pleased that we chose Park Hill.
Other than struggling with the air con controls, honestly it was one of the best weeks Ive had in years. The location, the view, the beds, the quiet, it was just incredible and I cant wait to go again x
Facilities were great in overall, nice view, but few things concerns myself. BBQ and area were not even tidy ,sauna didn't worked as should, possibly out dated. Apart from dishwasher that was broken and management let us know on the arrival date ,all the glasses and dishes had to clean again before use. Mattress in main bedroom I leave without a comment at all. I asked for contact with the owner and after one call that I couldnt reach ,he never get back to me. Understand that he is overseas but still problems wasn't solved.
