Chestnut Cottage Reviews

Elizabeth
We had the best time over Christmas. The owners had very kindly put up a Christmas tree and some beautiful decorations and provided a lovely welcome package. The house is very warm and cosy inside and the hot tub is a treat. Longframlington is ideally located not far from the stunning Northumberland beaches. Perfect for long blustery dog friendly walks followed by a visit to a cosy pub. We would love to come back.
Jeanette
Good location. Nice and homely. Nothing to much, only a phone call away if any problems, not that we had any. Would recommend
Sheila
What an amazing cottage! ! We had a fabulous holiday and had everything we could wish for and more. Added bonus was the TV having BT and Sky Sports which was fantastic. Great village and we visited the Granby Inn several times and took home some delights from the butchers. The cottage location was great for Seahouses, Amble, Alnwick and Bamburgh and the hot tub was great after a day of sight seeing. Overall one of the best holidays we have had and we will be back!!
Had a lovely time in a lovely place and owners were so friendly
We stayed for a week in August 2023. Longframlington is a nice, friendly village with dog friendly pubs and a lovely bakery cafe the Running Fox. It's a great base for exploring Northumbria. Chestnut cottage was perfect for our family of 5 and pets. Our children loved the hottub and the local playground. The house was clean and was very quiet.
Lovely cottage, very comfortable and well equipped. Nice touches with the welcome basket and flowers. Its a short walk into the village and we had a great meal at The Village Inn. Would happily stay again.
Jacqueline
Lovely clean cottage with all your home from home needs met. The addition of a hot tub really appreciated.
Lovely home from home everything you need and owners very helpful my only ... Lovely home from home everything you need and owners very helpful my only negative thing was top of staircase very noisy needs repairing but wouldnt stop me coming again
A great repeat stay, thank you.
Just returned home from a fabulous stay at chestnut cottage. Lovely, clean and comfortable house, well equipped. The enclosed garden area lovely and the hot tub was lovely after a long walk on the beach. The village is so friendly and can recommend the running fox for a coffee and pastry. The cottage is in an idea location to explore the stunning Northumberland area. Will definitely be back soon xx
Wellequipped, warm and comfortable. Easy short walk to the village facilities. We are coming again! PS We didn't need special glasses to see and drink the Prosecco, which was a lovely welcome!
Kathleen
Property was ok. It would benefit from being repainted, lots of marks on walls. Also odd mismatched furniture some of it chipped e.g wardrobe and dressing table in main bedroom. We appreciated the bottle of prosecco but it would have been nice to have some prosecco glasses. Overall we had a nice weekend, hot tub was good.
Lovely cottage in a great location. The local shop, which is a short walk away, has everything you need.
Lovely cottage very clean and tidy very dog friendly garden a good base to visit ... Lovely cottage very clean and tidy very dog friendly garden a good base to visit other places not too far away would go back to Chestnut Cottage if in the area again
The cottage was very comfortable, dog friendly enclosed garden , and the hot tub was a bonus. The welcome pack from the hosts was great. The location is fabulous for touring the area, including 5 miles from Alnwick, around 10 miles to Alnmouth, and under an hour to Bamburgh etc. Village has a great dog friendly pub the Village Inn, and great bakery cafe. There is a small dog field in the village, where dogs can run off lead.
Andrew
A lovely house with all the facilities needed for a lovely weeks stay
A good base for exploring, comfortable and well furnished. The hot tub is well maintained and exceptionally maintained. The local pubs are really good.
Excellent week away in the beautiful Northumberland. Cottage was superb with everything to hand. Hot tub a lovely bonus after a busy day walking. Definitely recommend visiting Cragside and the Anglers Arms which is just outside the village towards Morpeth. House was comfortable and clean, one thing missing was some pasta bowls as breakfast bowls are too small and plates to messy. Fab field nearby to walk the dog.
Richard
Lacking a little in terms of wardrobesdrawers for clothes. Also not enough crockery and cutlery, needs doubling up. Nice cottage in a lovely village and great location for exploring Northumberland.
Trevor
Lovely cottage in a nice village. Has everything that you would need and hot tub is a bonus, plus great location for visiting the Northumberland coast. Only one comment for a small improvement is it would be good to have a gazebo over the hot tub with a sliding cover for when its bad weather
Edward
Website wasn't clear about location close to main road. Very heavy traffic even during the night. Property could have done with summer duvets. Too heavy for the warm nights. Could do with replacing the loungers, as in a poor state. Back gate wouldn't close probably heat related. Went to fetch a dogs toy from under the couch. A hoover wouldn't go amiss. These are all small problems. The village was brilliant. People very friendly, and ideally located for day trips 30 minutes to everywhere. Kids loved the hot tub, and the dog field.
Chestnut Cottage is a wonderful property and has all the amenities you need for a stay in Northumberland. The cottage was like a home and home and from the minute we stepped inside we felt comfortable. We have two dogs and they loved the enclosed garden to run and play in. There is also an enclosed dog walking area in the village which was great for the dogs to meet new friends. The outside hot tub was an added bonus and was great for soothing the aching muscles after a day walking the Northumberland coastline. The village of Longframlington was also lovely and big shout outs to The Running Fox for one of the best breakfasts I have had and also the Village Inn which became our local for the week. We will definitely be back & couldn't recommend it highly enough.
Chestnut Cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed the sunny garden. Nice welcome pack. Excellent location for exploring the surrounding area, Northumberland castles and beautiful coastline. It is just a short stroll from the property into the village of Longframlington. The Village Inn and Running Fox bakery are very good places to eat and drink you will not be disappointed if you visited either of these, the food was superb.
Me and my family had a wonderful stay here. We are moving into the area and as such needed a place to stay for a few weeks. The house was immaculately clean and modern feel throughout. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you could need. Claire and Kevin are fantastic hosts and communication is fantastic. We couldnt be happier with the house. And our young boys loved the hot tub which was really clean and a pleasant bonus.
Nice property in a lovely village. Great base for exploring the area. We enjoyed the hot tub after a long day exploring. Very good communication with the owners.
We really enjoyed our stay at Chestnut Cottage. It was a lovely home from home and spotlessly clean with everything we needed. The location was great too, a perfect base to explore Northumberland.
Really enjoyed our stay. Even the main double bed was comfortable and this is said from someone with back issues and can easily pick up back discomfort from most mattresses! The host clearly cares for the property and its guests. Hopefully we will be back next time with better weather which would be harsh of us to expect the host to guarantee this!!
Great modern cottage in a fab location for touring the Northumberland National Park, Alnwick Castle 15 mins away, North East Coast and only half an hour from Newcastle. The cottage is set in the small village of Longframlington which has a couple of pubs, local shop, butcher and bakery so everything you need within walking distance. The cottage itself is modern, clean and well equipped with the added bonus of a lovely hot tub, it had been decorated for Christmas on our arrival which made it feel cosy and festive. Good WiFi and TV set up for evening entertainment, all in all a great stay, would definitely visit again and would recommend.
Kelsey
We had a lovely time here for my birthday, the cottage was so homely and comforting. The hot tub was our highlight and the beds were so comfy!! Would definitely return in the future!
The property was very comfortable and had everything we needed. . Unfortunately we didn't use the hot tub much and was really looking forward to that...as there was always lots of flys, floating round in it... apart from that everything was fine
Perfect. Exceeded our expectations. High quality furnishings, spotlessly clean. Home from home. Everything you need. The hot tub is amazing. Can't recommend highly enough. Thank you Kevin & Claire.
A great village enjoying local bakery and shop. Great location to visit surrounding area. Very comfortable house, very clean ideal for our family. Loved hot tub and quiet dark nights, great contact from owners, very friendly and helpful.
Gordon
The house is well situated in a very friendly village and the owners are very nice people. We visited The Village Inn several times and it is very good. On our last day of our stay we had lunch in The Granby and it was the best meal of our holiday, both for quality and for value, yes, 11 out of 10 for everything. and highly recommended.
Wardrobes were inadequate. Downstairs smelt of dogs. Very good route centre for visiting this lovely part of Britain. Excellent restaurants.
Chestnut cottage has everything you need for your stay including some of the items that previous reviews suggested such as egg cups and scissors. All the contact with the owners was very easy. The locals are all very friendly and welcoming do go into Carrs the Grocers it is bigger than it looks and stocks lots of different products including local beers and cheeses. Good sausages from the butchers too. Village Inn does good food big portions and you can take your dog in too. We also joined in the quiz night on Monday night which we enjoyed you get sausage and chips as part of the quiz entry. Running Fox is a must whether you go to the one in Longframlington or others in Felton or Shilbottle. The latter is in the Farriers Arms and made an ideal breakfast stop on the way to Alnmouth. Coast line is all beautiful we enjoyed the typical English beach activities as well as bird watching and kayaking. Still lots more to explore. Rothbury is also a pretty town with some good walks around it through forest and moor. Longframlington makes an ideal location for coast and inland walks with everything you need a few minutes walk away.
Richard
Problems with the boiler from day one. no hot water and numerous engineer visits interrupted the holiday. These problems persisted through the whole holiday, when we left the property the boiler had shut down. What was more disappointing is i raised a complaint with Sykes after we returned from holiday and have not heard back from you at all to even acknowledge this let alone deal with the specific points raised. This clearly demonstrates your lack of focus on customer outcomes and which is why i am unlikely to use Sykes again
Good location, nice property. Recommend the Running Fox and Anglers Arms.
Robert
Brilliant cottage it had everything we needed for a very happy holiday . Well done!
A lovely cottage with everything we needed. The hot tub was brilliant. Comfy beds and a well equipt kitchen. Couldn't have asked for more. Loved it and hope to return.
Charlotte
Maybe some more information how to use the chemicals correctly regarding the hot tub.
