Forest Edge Cottage Reviews

Michele
The cottage is beautiful, peaceful, welcoming, well equipped and comfortable. We felt it was perfect for our needs and we would like to come back. The area provided great walks in natural surroundings, it was tranquil and cosy for those wintry nights. Loved it.
Helen
This is the best cottage we have stayed in! The location is amazing and extremely quiet. With no fireworks nearby it was perfect for our dogs! With a secure large garden they had a great time. The area has loads of walks on the doorstep too. The woodburner was fantastic with lots of wood onsite there was no need to get any ourselves. We didn't try Read morethe hottub as it was a bit cold, by some other reviews it must take awhile. The cottage was very clean and well equipped. We will definitely be back. Hide
Laura
Fab location & quiet even tho close to main road. Great star gazing on a clear night. Good walks. secure garden for dogs. A lot of felling of local forest. Comfy beds. Good selection of cutlery & useful essentialls (I.e.foil). Stayed October & had unseasonably warm temp. Hot tub still took 4hrs to heat. Aga was off. Summer house warm & surprisinglyRead more critter free. Recommend you take food supplies for arrival as local shop is many miles away. Hide

Lovely cottage felt like home from home straight away. Welcome pack is a lovely touch really enjoyed the log burner hot tub once it's heated up it's easily kept warm with few burn cycles the next day. Lovely garden lots of space. Cottage had everything you would need. Really enjoyed our 3 nights at forest edge cottage.
Victoria
We had a lovely time. Your cottage is delightful, beautiful views and the birds/butterflies in the garden were an added bonus. The dog thoroughly enjoyed his sniffing as well so three very big thumbs up from us.
Kate
We had a faultless stay at this property last week, it really was a home from home. The location was fantastic-walks out of the gate straight into the forest, and we have never seen so many different birds in the garden. We loved it but I think the dogs loved it more! We hope to return at some point. Karen, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. A great place to stay.
Jamie
Wonderful weekend away the cottage is amazing and will definitely be back
Alyson
Lovely cosy cottage, well equipped and comfortable. Nice basket of treats on arrival. Plenty of logs for the hot tub/fires. We had a relaxing time and loved all the bird visitors. Friendly owner. Would definitely stay again.
Adele
Very recommend for a quite getaway cottage was amazing
Matthew
Beautiful location, very quiet, just what we needed away from the hussle and bustle. Excellent walks on the doorstep. Every amenity covered and really well set up. The owners were so helpful and welcoming. Would highly recommend.
Sam
Forest Edge was a lovely comfy cottage. The Aga in the kitchen kept the place toasty. We used the log burner and switched off the radiators which added to the atmosphere. We had a little emergency during our stay which was all of our own making. Although this situation had nothing to do with the cottage, Karen sorted out our logistics and the cotta ge owner was a "hands on" assistance. We are definitely fortunate to have booked from a lovely family team. Thank you.
Chris
Amazing place would love to visit again. Possibly in the summer to get more time to look around the forest. Also looking at the stars at night in the log burning hot tub really relaxing.
Jessica
We had an absolutely wonderful time at forest edge; the welcome hamper was a lovely touch and so thoughtful. They provided everything you could ever need in terms of amenities, and the house itself was immaculate! We even paid to stay an extra night as we loved it so much and did not want to leave, our doggy enjoyed it even more than us due to the amazing walks in the surrounding areas. Could not ask for a nicer stay, and will definitely return someday!
Leigh
Lovely cottage in a really peaceful location. Good amenities and WiFi signal. Jigsaws and books available and a really lovely welcome basket. Easy check in and out. The corner sofa in the photos has been replaced with a 2 seater leather sofa and armchair which unfortunately aren't comfortable. Storm damage and forest felling has reduced the number of nice walks on the doorstep but plenty available if willing to drive to them.
Megan
Lovely Cottage, in a lovely part of the country. Great back garden, very enjoyable watching the birds. The 3 Kings and River walks straight from the cottage were very picturesque, even in the rain.
Susan
Great location for Kielder forest and Scottish borders. We found log burning hot tub difficult, but we may just be poor fire starters! Summer house fab when you stoke up the log burner, very cosy/hot!
Tracy
Beautiful cottage ,amazing garden, lovely walks from the doorstep, just perfect
Alistair
The cottage has everything you need, even down to a fire stick and all the apps if you have an account
Sue
Fabulous cottage, tucked away just within Kielder Forest. Extremely well equipped and very dog friendly, enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and wildlife, which included a wide range of birds, deer and a weasel! Had a lovely time there, and dogs seemed to enjoy even more than us.
Dawn
Our stay at forest edge cottage was quiet simply perfect.Well equipped, extremely clean, everything to the highest of standards. Our hosts were brilliant and nothing was a bother. We definitely recommend this cottage if you want a peaceful escape, starry skies were beautiful on a clear night I only wish I had a good camera as the photos would have been amazing. We watched lots of birds in the garden which kept us entertained for hours.Hopefully we will be back and bring some binoculars
Gillian
Fabulous cottage with the added bonus of a huge garden. This has to be one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. Everything you could ask for is provided. The welcome pack was much appreciated.
Aimee
We had a fabulous holiday at the cottage. The place itself is in a beautiful spot, far enough off the main road so that you dont hear any road noise, but close when you want to get out and about! The cottage is really nicely decorated and thought through - some very thoughtful touches and when we arrived there was bread, biscuits, milk, even some f lowers and a bottle of wine! Perfect and meant we didnt have to head straight for the shops! All the comforts of home are there - marvellous
Ed
The cottage was exceptionally well equipped and furnished, with beautiful gardens. The location at the edge of Kielder Forest is also excellent and very easy to find. Also great for young children.
June
This is a lovely cottage in a really beautiful location. The garden is so peaceful and full of birds and there are plenty of walks for dogs. Inside is lovely and well equipped. Had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend here for a holiday.
Pat
The cottage is very comfortable and in a great peaceful location despite being close to the A68. It was good to be able to take the dogs on a good walk straight from the door. The birds on the bird feeders kept us entertained at mealtimes, they emptied them very quickly and we bought some more to replenish. The fat balls were a particular favourite . I would recommend taking some bird food with you, you will need it. The welcome basket was lovely. I would recommend this cottage.
Sharon
Wow a fabulous property, great layout and a beautiful garden. Location spot on for walks some available straight from the property. Central location which is great for exploring the area. The wood fired hot tub took a couple of attempts to get the temperature right but is definitely worth it. Would definitely return again.
Maria
Cosy and warm cottage in beautiful quiet location. Walked straight into the forest from the cottage so didn't need the car except for an odd trip to the local shops. We couldn't get the hob to work on our first night at the cottage and owner came out and solved the problem for us. We are hoping to book the cottage again
Laura
Very clean, well stocked. Unfortunately had a power outage due to the storm but had plenty of torches and candles, and the aga kept everything warm. Lovely big garden and well enclosed so perfect for the dog. Overall a great stay
Colin
Fantastic property in a great location, incredibly well equipped, a nice welcome hamper and even bird food. Well done
Kirstine
Stunning house in secluded position of dark forest with a beautiful enclosed garden at back, me my partner and little lhassa enjoyed it very much. lovely walks on your doorstep and many more a short drive away from property. hosts leave lots of literature for you to find what suits you best.
Nicola
Had a great time over New Year! Really comfortable, well equipped place to stay. Perfect place to bring a dog. Walks from the doorstep, safe enclosed garden and easy to clean floors inside! (It was a wet week!) The WiFi would you believe was better than at home? Everyone was happy and content, Would love to return one day!
Paul
This was the most eventful and dramatic holiday any of us had ever had ,arriving on the same day as storm Arwen . It is a testament to the build and double glazing of the place that we were oblivious to the devestation going on outside . We lost power on the first evening and only the heat from the Aga kept us from going home as it was off for 3 da ys . We were well looked after by the owners dad who checked on us every day . The house and location are both fantastic and the welcome pack brill.
Emma
This is the perfect bolt hole away from it all in gorgeous scenery and with lovely views, in a relaxed, quiet and friendly location - less busy and better value than the Lake District! Cottage is very nicely done out, warm and cosy, v comfy beds, everything we needed and welcome hamper. The coast is an hour away with plenty to see and do, a beautif ul drive or there are lovely walks on the doorstep or from main centre of Kielder - forest drive may be closed over winter months.
Sandra
We had a nice relaxing week at Forest Edge cottage. The house is spacious and well equipped - the garden amazing and secure. Our dog loved running about exploring everything. It is a semi detached cottage with a neighbour - this wasn't a problem apart from our dog and their dog barking at the fence at each other on occasion. The house was decorated and furnished to a high standard and the beds were very comfy. Some nice walks nearby and a good base to explore the area.
Michelle
Lovely cottage and location. Everything provided making it a home from home. Beautiful garden and surroundings. Would definitely recommend a stay at this property
