Horsley Cottage Reviews

Lovely, immaculate and clean cottage in a superb rural location. We had everything we needed and the hosts were eager to provide anything we were missing. Would love to return one day!
Absolutely brilliant stay, thank you so much! The views all around the cottage were stunning and it had absolutely everything we needed every time we wondered is there you could find it! So well equipped which made things really easy. The hot tub is lovely and just the right temperature. Lots to do in the local area including Derwent Reservoir and a couple of kids play places in Consett Jumbo Jungle and Believe and Be as well as an old railway perfect for cycling and the local viaduct. Would highly recommend staying at Horsley Cottage, the Christmas tree and decorations were lovely as well.

This cottage is more than we could have ever asked for. We were travelling as 2 couples with our two little daughters. Both bedrooms had enough room for a travel cot and being all in one level meant they could toddle around safely and play together. The enclosed outside area meant we were able to have some time to explore. There is a lot to do for children in the area, all close enough to be able to get there and back before naps. The setting of the area was stunningly beautiful and watching the sun rise and set was a personal highlight. The cottage itself is renovated to such a high standard. The doors and walls are all very soundproof so we werent disturbing each other whilst up in the night with the little ones. It was truly a home away from home. Extremely well appointed and had everything we could need or want. There were some wonderful little touches that just made the week so special. Ruth, who owns the property, was extremely helpful and accommodating, even helping us with recommendations for local events. If you are considering booking this cottage, do it now, its a hidden gem.
Could no fault are staying at horsly cottage nice and warm very good heating ... Could no fault are staying at horsly cottage nice and warm very good heating good wifi, very clean, and wellmaintained would highly recommend staying here
This cottage is one of the best I have stayed in. The decoration of the cottage is very high quality and absolutely gorgeous. The kitchen has everything you need and more. Again beautifully designed. Great ensuite and main bathroom. Lovely showers and having two is a great bonus for 3 adults. The views from the living room is stunning over the countryside with the bonus of sheep, pheasants and rabbits. The bedrooms are a good size. There is also a laundry room which has very good white goods. A bonus. The hot tub is fantastic. Just the right temperature and again stunning views. The gardens around the property are great too. Perfect.
Another great holiday at Horsley Cottage, lovely clean comfortable cottage. Area around is beautiful and very peaceful. Great hot tub very relaxing, friendly owners
Robert
Too quiet, too comfy, too scenic too bad we had to leave! ! What a delightful cottage set in beautiful open scenery. Comfortable, well appointed furnishings and everything you need in the kitchen. Hot, yes very, water on tap sorry!. Lovely owners on site who are extremely helpful. Even the driveway chippings are quiet and the sheep and cows in the nearby fields don't make a noise!!! Cannot rate this property high enough, we had a lovely, quiet and relaxing stay, thank you Peter & Ruth, excellent
Great location and fabulous accommodation. We will be returning very soon. Great hot tub which was used almost daily. Very clean property, very well kept and a short drive to the amenities of Consett. One very minor negative was the mattress in the master bedroom which in our opinion needs an upgrade. All in all though a wonderful stay and would recommend. Thank you Peter and Ruth.

Beautifully modernised. Lovely area to be so peaceful and private. The holiday home had all the home comforts that was required and the hot tub was a super bonus. We really would have benefitted from staying another week as it was so relaxing. To open the bedroom curtains every morning and look over miles upon miles of the Pennines was stunning.
Beautiful cottage the owners have put an enormous amount of effort into making this beautiful cottage just perfect and it shows in all the thought and detail. I would love to go back it was an absolute joy to be there , away from all the hustle and bustle it invites you to just relax and chill .
Absolutely lovely home, hot tub is ace. I would highly recommend this home.
We had such an amazing stay at Horsley Cottage. Beautiful location, peaceful, relaxing. Property was super clean and comfortable. Kitchen was very well equipped and what a lovely touch with a welcome pack of essentials. Just what we needed after a long drive. Hot tub was lovely to chill out in, after a long day, drinking in the views. I will definitely be returning.
Caroline
This is such a lovely cottage. Very clean and comfortable. The views are brilliant across the valley. Such a great place to explore the surrounding area and a relaxing evening in the hot tub.
George
Lovely comfortable cottage set in quiet and peaceful countryside, well equipped with everything that was needed. Hot tub was a plus. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic cottage, impeccably clean. It had everything you could need. Would highly recommend.
Having used Hoseasons for many years I had become disillusioned with the rising costs and falling standards. This was the first time we used Sykes and have been absolutely blown away with the standards, the quality, attention to detail and the lovely little touches that meant this was by far and away the best accommodation we have ever stayed in. Excellent value for money, a beautiful cottage in lovely and peaceful area. Literally perfect. I cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you.
Gordon
Absolutely superb could not fault it in any way it's a 10 from us
Rebecca
My friends and I stayed as a celebration of our 40th birthdays and all so impressed with this fabulous cottage. With everything we needed there we particularly loved the interior, the fire and the hot tub. The view so nice watching the sun rise and so peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves thank you very much for a relaxing stay. We Highly recommend and would love to return.
Absolutely fantastic cottage, we had a lovely christmas. We couldn't fault any aspect of our holiday or the accomodation. Can't reccomend highly enough.

Delightful location with great views, close to footpaths for those who enjoy walking, and very cosy for our winter stay with a roaring woodburning fire. Local shopping was five minutes or so away. Excellent all round! Thank you!!
We had a lovely return visit to Horsley Cottage. We love the isolation. Cottage so comfortable & warm. Any issues owners always sort out and theyre never intrusive. They Sent a lovely text after we left.
Had a wonderful time in this beautiful cottage with hot tub. It was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and had everything we could have needed. The fresh milk in the fridge and welcome pack was much appreciated, as was the complimentary basket of firewood for the log burner. The views from the cottage and hot tub are fabulous! This is a perfect peaceful place to get away from it all can't recommend it enough!
Vivienne
We have just returned home, the cottage is fabulous, beds comfortable, very well equipped for your needs. If peace and quiet and wonderful views is for you this is definitely the place for you.
Beautifully presented. Huge, we two rattled around in it so perfectly large enough for four people to find their own space. Everything worked and we lacked nothing. Five ticks from us.
Malcolm
Excellent property. Would the owner consider giving a What 3 Words location for the property as it was not the easiest to find?
Joseph
A lovely place. Clean and everything to help make your stay comfortable and practical has been put in place. A fantastic location guaranteeing privacy, serenity and lovely scenery. You immediately feel at home. Not too far from places to stock up if you need to. The hot tub is great and we loved cooking in the kitchen which we decided to do rather than going out to dine. You will really enjoy this gem.
We had a lovely break at Horsley Cottage, easily the most beautiful cottage we have stayed in over the years. We are sad to leave the stunning views. The owners could not have been more pleasant. Thank you for a fabulous stay
Caroline
Beautifully converted barn with original features in the living room. The peace and quiet is very special. With spectacular views it's a place to go back to away from the bustle of every day life. The cottage was spotlessly clean and well equipped.
Beautiful well equipped cottage with stunning views. Good location for the local area. Peaceful, with great walks nearby. Accommodation provided for a relaxing holiday.
Fantastic location, cottage was lovely and clean and one of the best cottages we have stayed at. Very peaceful with beautful views and great hot tub.
First class all round. .had a fantastic stay. Would definitely recommend.
Nicholas
The Property is quite simply breathtaking, so roomy and airy yet cozy, theres everything you need and more! Log burner and hot tub great features, views amazing. Cant wait to revisit, theres nowhere quite like it anywhere else! A real credit to the owners.
We've been to many cottages over the last few years and horsley cottage is one of the best ones we've stayed in. If we had a gripe the only thing would be in the main bedroom, in the morning the sun came through the curtains even though they are very thick. A blind would help with that. But that is just a personal thing for myself and my husband. Apart from that the cottage was wonderful.
Charlie
This was at the very top, been to many cottages but this stood out apart from being spotless it had everything and more, the spec was top notch which is rare in a holiday cottage but the small additions peter & Ruth did like robes for the hot tube a bounce, they too were great hosts and answered our needs when asked . ........ an absolutely fantastic fine.....one not to be missed if you enjoy being off the road ...... Will most definitely go back
Catherine
Lovely cottage, exceptionally clean and equipped to a very high standard, very spacious with a great hot tub. Situated on the edge of the Pennines, so slightly remote and very quiet. Small supply of essentials milk, tea, coffee and biscuits were provided. We will certainly return in the future.
When we walked in, we were impressed by the cleanliness everything was gleaming! ! Really comfortable and well equipped. The view from the hot tub is wonderful. Total relaxation and highly recommend!!!
