Jorvik Lodge Reviews

We have just returned from an amazing Christmas at the Lodge. A week of relaxation and peace and quiet.. not to mention the hot tub on Christmas morning was wonderful! The lodge is lovely and exactly like the pictures you see. Its a little tricky to find especially in the dark and mist but a friendly passerby gave us directions. The site is very quiet and peaceful and kept tidy. I would say maybe recommend some taxi numbers to get into York as I would prefer to have a few glasses of wine rather than drive in. We did google a local taxi firm but suspect we were taken advantage of slightly, as the Uber back from York to the lodge was less than half price!! Nonetheless, we had an amazing time and would definitely recommend and re book to go back again. Thanks for a lovely break. Helen, Ian and Phoebe

Amazing lodge, in a fabulous location. Great communication throughout. Lovely little pub 10 minutes walk away. Highly recommended and will definitely return!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Jorvik Lodge however it was not without some hiccups. The owners were quick with their responses for the help we required even though they were not on site to attend. The property name plate is not readable so the initial location was by matching the property picture from the website to the lodge. Not as easy in the dark. The property is tired and the luxury feel from the website is not as good in reality. The property was essentially clean, though the carpets are a bit grubby probably to be expected with cream carpets in a rental property. There wasnt any tubs or things for microwave cooking. No foils or clingfilm. Very basic condiments. We encountered problems with the hot tub and gas, but these were rectified at the earliest opportunity. The gas running out was a little inconvenient as the weather turned quite cool that evening night and following morning. The reset button on the gas meter is not a very accessible place however at least it was dry when we had to press it. The property is in a great location. We had walks on the door step and further afield. These were excellent and made the holiday fantastic. Thank you.

Such a lovely well presented lodge, beautiful. The hot tub was well used, so relaxing Location was great for getting into York.. just 10 mins to the park and ride and then 10 mins on the bus. We had a lovely time, thank you
A gift for my wife for christmas, a short break after the new year for my wifes 50th birthday, she was over the moon with the lodge & hot tub, we had a really good time it has everything you need, you only have to supply your own food. Cannot think of anything negative at all. Thank you very much.
A really beautiful lodge. Lovely furnishings and decor. Hot tub a great bonus. Great location. Close to York. We had a couple of very cold evenings and couldn't get the heating to work. Rang the owner who was very helpful but we couldn't make it work. We got the electric fire working which helped a bit. Could definitely do with instructions to use the heating. Hot water was fine though and the shower is brilliant.
Lodge was nice but a bit tired round the edges. Slight issues with the lodge ie grill pan filthy, various bulbs blown, tv reception hit and miss, stains on mattress which wasnt very comfy. Other than that hot tub great and area very peaceful and nice setting.
Christopher
Family and I loved it. The site is quiet and the lodge is situated nicelyset back and private for relaxing in the hot tub. The facilities in the lodge are everything you need and its just a nice place to be after a day out exploring whether that be in the hot tub or on the comfy sofa watching netflix. Local shops are close enough and only a short drive away if required . If you like Thai food I would recommend Thai Season by Pritsana which is only 1.5 miles away and they do take out to enjoy back at the lodge this was also recommended in the welcome pack which you will get. Ive got to say this is right up there with best lodges weve stayed at and we plan to visitbook again for a short break later this year.
Darren
My two daughters loved the hot tub We had I great time and Emma the owner was very helpful
Michael
Nice and smart place. Quiet. Well recommended
Caroline
Very pleasant, enjoyable stay. Comfortable lodge with a great hot tub which we enjoyed every day.
There was a lot of groundwork going on with heavy machinery near our lodge which we weren't made aware of. We could have done without that. Visitors need to be made aware of this. Couldn't really relax in the hot tub because of the workmen walking between the lodges.
It would have been better with a washing machine.
Unfortunately there was work going on around the park, which we had tried to escape from as our house is a building site so we had to go out everyday to escape. No food delivers and Im not sure any one came and checked on the hot tub as it was very strong in chlorine. Other than these issues the place is very nice and when its finished should be lovely
Jennifer
Jorvik Lodge was ideally situated. The site itself was lovely with a limited number of lodges, all very well spaced to the point you didn't even notice the others. In terms of location it was perfect for a drive short into York. The lodge itself was fantastically luxurious, it was very well equipped and immaculately clean upon our arrival. There was nothing that we lacked and needed. The owners upon booking made contact so promptly and whilst we didnt require anything from them, they were very accommodating and it was reassuring that they were contactable in the event that we did. Wondferul break in trying times. We will revisit.
