The Old Guard House is a stunning, refurbished home located in the charming town of Whitby, in the North York Moors National Park. With breathtaking farmland and coastal views, this property boasts ample outdoor space and sleeps ten, the ideal base for large families and groups accompanied by a furry-friend or two, who seek a seaside, summer escape to North Yorkshire.
As you walk through this pristinely-finished home, you’ll be transported to the past with its 1940s decor and furniture. Be welcomed into a vast, open-plan living space where you can take your pick of two separate seating areas and their plush sofas to plunge into as you enjoy the warmth of the woodburning stove and the murmur of the Smart TV in the background.
The chefs will be happy to find a spacious kitchen with an island/breakfast bar and ample kitchenware to cook to their heart’s content, as well as an elevated dining area to enjoy your meals around. Step through the patio doors to the enclosed garden and its lawn for the children and dogs to run around in while you sink into the hot tub, or sip on a glass of wine admiring the coastal views.
Come back into the warm comfort of the house with its underfloor heating and rinse off in the one of the shower rooms or plunge yourself into a relaxing bath before heading to rest in one of five beautifully-decorated bedrooms. The following morning, wake up just before dawn and make yourself a cup of steaming tea or coffee to watch the sun rise over the glistening horizon from the roof terrace.
Explore your surroundings and make your way to The Fox & Hounds Goldsborough for a mouthwatering meal, Mary's Sandwich Shop for a quick lunch or indulge your sweet tooth with a stop at Dessert Box Whitby where you’ll enjoy decadent treats. History and nature lovers can visit Mulgrave Castle’s ruins and stroll through Mulgrave Woods before taking a well-deserved break and lounging on the sand at Sandsend Beach.
