Suffolk Cottage Reviews

Alistair
The facilities were not up to standard for the number of occupants. There was a double oven but only the top oven worked, there were no oven trays at all making it difficult to cook food. While general clean, there were areas that were not up to standard. Apart from that, accommodationlocation was good.
The accommodation was not as spacious as it looked on the website photos. To say it was for 10 people would have been a bit of a squeeze. There were only 6 of us, plus a baby and there was only room in the downstairs lounge are for 6 people to sit comfortably. Bedrooms were great, lots of space. Only 1 shower for 5 bedrooms, was a bit difficult.

We loved our stay and would certainly return. However, we were disappointed in the lack of provisions i.e. no hand towels in the kitchen no oven gloves no tea towels although this was made clear in the email and so we brought our own only three dishwasher tablets. Wifi was not available at all it was not intermittent as suggested in the listing. The DVD player did not work. Although the hot tub was lovely and warm, there were no bubbles. As I say, this would not put us off returning, as we are now aware of the lack of provisions. If, however, other guests come and are not aware, it could be quite offputting.

Really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was lovely, the farm was beautiful and we would all like to come back in the future!
Very spacious accommodation had a lovely relaxing time
Lovely setting, very peaceful and quiet. My granddaughter loved feeding the animals especially the donkeys. The cottage was very comfortable and clean we would definitely go back again.
Suffolk cottage does not have any wifi. Luckily got good EE 4G reception but had to buy the kids extra data. Due to covid they have to empty the hot tubs every week, ours was up to temperature by 10pm on day of arrival. Being on a working farm the house was full of flies all the time. We were also unlucky that all the farms seemed to pick our week to muck spread the fields, not the nicest aroma when sat in the hot tub. We still enjoyed our stay but just a few niggles.
We were made extremely welcome by Christine and Alex we all had a great time and ... We were made extremely welcome by Christine and Alex we all had a great time and enjoyed feeding and watching all the farm animals very welcoming owners Thank you

We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.

Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.

We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
