Black Lake Cottage Reviews

Kyle
We had a really wonderful time at the cottage. Super cosy, beautiful location, hottub amazing and Nev (owner) very flexible, welcoming and accommodating. Excellent value for money too for big parties, would 10/10 recommend to everyone. Thank you, Nev!
Amanda
Superb beautiful location. Well equipped. Fantastic stay and would highly recommend
Mariusz
One of the best cottages Ive ever came across. Remote location, fully equipped and a tub, and play room. Evenings in front of wood burner. Plenty of hike routes around. Locals (if you find one;)) are really lovely. Just have a chat with farmers :) Host is beyond great. Very helpful, kind and understanding.
Nikki
This was an amazing cottage ! Everything you need in the cottage which was great. Location is remote but lovely and peaceful and not that far from the main road . The owner was lovely and contactable if we had any problems. We would highly recommend and we will be back .
Elaine
Lovely cottage. Very clean and spacious. Has everything you need. Beautiful open countryside all around. Would definitely go back.
Laura
If you appreciate beautiful scenery, wildlife and peace and quiet, you wont be disappointed with this cosy and comfy cottage. The hot tub was fantastic and the games room helped keep our boys entertained when the weather wasnt great. There is plenty of outdoor space for kids to play and be as loud as they want. They loved messing about in the strea m. Despite feeling like you are in the middle of nowhere, its only a short, scenic drive to Porthmadog which has everything you could need.
Colin
Great location, (really the best I've stayed at) and good facilities to deal with whatever the weather chucks at you. So pleased we came here, a proper break.
Sandra
This cottage is in a great location. It sits among the hills a few miles outside of Porthmadog, the road journey is scenic and takes you along a tarmac road that takes approximately 5-6 minutes to travel. I would suggest your first journey is in the light. The hot tub is fantastic, I'd advise taking large towels with you. Towels are provided but no t bath sheets. The bird watching is amazing.
Angela
we had a great stay and were blessed with beautiful weather for our stay. The cottage is in a beautiful rural location and we chose it for the hot tub, games room and outdoor spaces such as the balcony so that our family of varying ages would all have space and things to enjoy. It was a fabulous holiday and I would very much like to visit again. Yo u get used to the lane and we found it best to only turn right out of the cottage not left.
Katherine
Cottage was perfect for our group - big open kitchen dining area where we spent most of our time, great views from all rooms, good walking options from the front door. Wifi speed was really good. Points to be aware of - the GPS will basically always tell you to approach from Prenteg, don't! The road from Porthmadog much more enjoyable and less trea cherous. The yard is not really completely enclosed, so unless your dog is 100% trustworthy, unlikely they'll be able to be off lead. Highly recommend
Fiona
A fabulous place to stay. Beautiful setting. Super homely and comfortable. Highly recommended.
Josie
We all absolutely loved our stay at black late cottage. The location was absolutely stunning, it was so peaceful, an amazing get away from the busyness of normal day to day! The cottage was also beautiful, it truly felt like a home away from home. The beds were also super comfy, I had the best nights sleep! We also loved the hot tub and air hockey! Will definitely be returning, looking forward to it!
Cath
Home form Home. The cottage was a lovely place for us as a group of friends to stay and catch up. It felt like home from home. It was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Including the lovely hot tub with the wonderful views. Thanks, Cath
Alex
Very nice cottage. Only 15 minutes from a town but very rural, which we loved. The views and walks were amazing.
Louise
Lovely place in the middle of beautiful countryside. Sing loudly to your hearts content in the hot tub, no neighbours around to annoy! Games room kept everyone happy. Lovely walks to be had straight from the cottage. Great for dogs too, enclosed garden. Got some nice sunny days there, even in October. Bit of a drive in and out to get there but fair ly quiet roads. Go right when going out of the cottage though not left. Driving the Tremadog rd is very Tight and hilly
Ian
lovely cottage lovely location great time
Aaron
2nd time here, in which an amazing experience yet again. Nice and remote and a beautiful lake close by. Rooms are spacious and any assistance needed the host was on standby to help.
Nigel
This is a beautiful cottage, literally in the middle of nowhere. It is well equipped with everything to make your stay as pleasant, comfortable and memorable as possible. Even though it is in a remote location it is incredibly easy to get to all the major tourist spots of North Wales. Because it is so remote what a pleasure it was to sit in the hot tub with a glass of your favourite drink and look at the stars, who knew there were so many!
Nick
A comfortable and cosy cottage situated in the foothills of Snowdonia with stunning views all around. A perfect location for exploring the area, with superb walks directly from the front door, whilst the balcony and hot tub provide the perfect way to spend an evening watching the sun set.
Jane
A great cottage in beautiful countryside. Host very helpful. We had wonderful weekend.
Rachel
What a place ! Incredible views , total privacy , peace and quiet . The accommodation was lovely , with everything anyone could ever need ., Needed cling film , there it was The hot tub and table tennis table was great , and we loved sitting up on the decking watching the sun go down ! Worth the long drive from Cornwall. we shall come back again !
Oliver
Beautiful cottage. Views were spectacular. Sitting outside in the morning and hearing just nothing was amazing.
Nicola
We have had a really lovely stay at Black Lake Cottage, it was so homely and equipped with everything that you need and beds were so comfy! We particularly enjoyed the hot tub and sitting out on the balcony, views were absolutely spectacular from everywhere. The owner is such a nice guy and was so welcoming, we had a problem with the fridge freezer during our stay, phoned him and within an hour he had replaced it, wow! This is a very special home, highly recommend and cant wait to come back!
Carl
Beautifully set in the middle of no where lovely cottage hot tub amazing lovely loughe to relax plenty of room for 6 of us lovely views from viewing platform highly recommended
A
Amazing location- well off the beaten track but also convenient for Porthmadog with all it's facilities. The beach at Borth y Gest was a revelation. Tremadog is a good walk away with pubs/ restaurants and a shop. Book as much in advance as you can. Cottage had everything we needed although previous guests had left them short of glasses. Plenty of h ot water etc. Garden is gorgeous and the kids swam in the lake.
Elin
Lovely relaxing holiday. You are isolated from the busy world and it was one of the best accomadations we have ever stayed at.
Sarah
Amazing cottage, amazing location. You truly are secluded here, yet only 15 minutes drive from Porthmadog. The hot tub is amazing, and there are plenty of things to do in the cottage if the weather is not great. We can't wait to go back. X
Daniel
Perfect getaway for friends and family
Bhavin
10/10! Highly recommended. Remote location, private with a stunning backdrop. It was beautiful, to stand there and take in the views - a must see. Loads of entertainment, wonderful facilities including a bbq and jacuzzi. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would look to come back in the future. Ian was friendly, helpful and attentive to details to ensu re we enjoyed our stay. If youre looking for a base to climb snowdon (miners / Pyg track), this is the place for you!
Joshua
Black Lake Cottage was absolutely perfect. It felt very remote, up a very narrow single tracked lane; but it was actually only 30 minutes from North Wales attractions like ZipWorld. The hot tub was great to sit in under the stars, and the games room/air hockey was a fun addition. The cottage was clean, with some beautiful views and it was cozy even in March!
Tracy
We had the most fabulous family week with our adult children, their partners and our Grandson. The location of the house is completely beautiful, peaceful and memorable. In the day we walked and cycled. We gathered round the log fire each evening and played frustration which was frustrating. As the sun went down we sat in the hot tub watching the sunset behind the hills. I would recommend a break here for every family away from the rat race. A never to be forgotten holiday.
Amanda
We visited with our dog and would happily have stayed forever. If you want to be far away from the rat race, with all the necessary home comforts, then this is the cottage for you. Don't arrive in the dark as the road is a little precarious but you become accustomed to it and quickly learn to adapt. The peace and tranquility of this fabulous find, is second to none. The sheep roam freely, so you need to respect that (as does your dog) - but to me, that just added to the ambience. FABULOUS.
Benjamin
Fantastic stay, the hot tub was lovely, and once the fire was roaring there really was nowhere else I would have rather been.
Richard
Lovely place , brilliant location, hot tub was amazing. Enjoyed every minute.
Karen
Our second visit to Black Lake Cottage. We love the quirkiness and character of the property as much as the remoteness and the beauty of the location. Its the right place to digitally detox and chill. There is nothing as soul-enriching as the freedom to walk in the hills and watch the sun set over Snowdonia then relax in the hot tub under the stars while your dinner cooks gently in the wood burning oven. A week at Black Lake Cottage is as refreshing as a fortnight anywhere else
Christine
Great cottage in a stunning location. Very well equipped and comfortable. Would recommend.
Stuart
Booked as a last minute honeymoon it was exactly what we needed. The cottage is unbelievably well equipped, everything we could think of was there somewhere. Its both spacious and cosy, best of all its so quiet and peaceful and the views are absolutely stunning. We wanted a few days away from everything and couldnt have asked for more, our host wen t out of his way for us and were already planning a return trip as soon as we get the chance. Did i mention it was quiet? Perfect.
