About Bryndan

This former worker's cottage dates back to the 1820s and is situated in the rolling hills of the Powys countryside. Five miles from the market town of Machynlleth and 1 mile from the nearest neighbours, you have all the privacy you need to completely relax at this gorgeous property.

Marvellously combining period features with modern touches, Bryndan is an ideal stay for groups of friends or family seeking a relaxing getaway, or perhaps an adventure-filled outdoor break. The sitting room is the perfect retreat after a day of walking, dominated by an Inglenook fireplace with a woodburning stove, whilst wooden beams painted in modern greys offer a homely feel whilst you watch your favourite shows on the Smart TV.

Head through into the refreshing kitchen/diner, lined with cream coloured units, whilst a lovely dining table is set for four of you to gather around and enjoy a hearty home-cooked meal. To discover Bryndan's two glorious bedrooms, head to the first floor and choose between a super king-size and a twin room, both with quirky, rustic beams and Smart TVs.

In between the two rooms, separated by a spacious landing area, sits the contemporary bathroom with a bath and a separate shower. This historic getaway's excellent features continue outside, where you’ll find a wonderfully landscaped garden with a lawn and gravel area boasting a hot tub with the most astounding views of the encompassing Welsh hills.

Alternatively, stroll around the 10 acres of woodland available to you. Take the scenic drive into Machynlleth, a pretty market town providing a choice of shops, pubs and cafés, as well as attractions such as the Museum of Modern Art, the Machynlleth Clock Tower and Owain Glyndwr's Parliament House.

The other side of the town lies the imposing Snowdonia National Park which offers incredible outdoor opportunities for you thrill-seekers. The coast is also within easy reach, with the popular Aberystwyth and Aberdovey beach, certainly worth a day trip.

Bryndan Reviews

Christopher
Lovely property, stunning location and the most helpful host you could possibly want.
The cottage was perfect, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The hot tub was amazing. We would love to return one day.
Madeleine
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Bryndan. The cottage is very clean and well appointed. Everything needed for a weeks holiday is provided. The hot tub was also very clean. There are lots of good walks nearby over the hills or through woodland and a supermarket 4 miles away in Machynlleth. There is an electric car charger 18 miles away in Aberystwyth.
Andrew
Amazing stay at Bryndon. The cottage is spacious clean and full of character. Everything you need is here. Beautiful rural setting with plenty of bird life, hot tub is perfect. Thank you we will be back Andy Rach and Lily
Hello, we had a really nice time at the cottage and found it very homely and relaxing.
A really lovely house in the mountains we lost the WiFi half way through the week but managed without it. Bring bird seed as sitting in the hot tub watching the feeders was awesome. Close enough to the shops and really good location for visiting the surrounding locations. A gem.
Really enjoyed our stay, lovely cottage, fantastic views.
I sent my parents on holiday for their anniversary and they loved going back. Bryndan is in a very quiet, peaceful area. There are plenty of walks around as long as you take a map, and they loved being able to use the garden and hot tub too.

We had a wonderful week. The absolute bonus was the bird life in the garden and the view. The hot tub within those surroundings was fantastic we didnt need any more especially with the lovely weather. Just one suggestion my husband would have appreciated a sun umbrella as he prefers shade.
Bryndan is a dream cottage, renovated to a high quality but still has that homely feel. Set in a stunning location. We had a lovely week, even the weather was nice for our sightseeing days out.
Stunning cottage, immaculate and clean. Beautiful views and walks. Bonus of hot tub and log burner. Owner extremely friendly and helpful. Cant wait to go back!

Superb Property with wonderful hosts

Had an absolutely amazing week here in October. The house is beautiful, and the story of the renovation of the house is fabulous. Everything has been done to such a high standard. Theres zero phone signal anywhere in or near the house if youre with EE, but the WiFi is ok so dont have to be completely cut off unless you want to be. The rooms are gorgeous and the beds are so comfy. The setting is absolutely idyllic. Ive recommended this home to all of my friends and will definitely be back! There was a lovely touch of a bottle of bubbly waiting for us when we arrived and sitting in the hot tub while the sun rises with only sheep for company is the best way to start the day.

Lovely stay, so relaxing.

We stayed here for a week in August and had an absolutely wonderful stay. The cottage was beautiful, clean and well equipped. The views were stunning. Beth was a wonderful host extremely helpful with anything we asked. Would highly recommend Bryndan for a quiet, peaceful and relaxed getaway.
We found the cottage exactly as photos very clean and comfortable . A credit to Bethan and family . Bethan was very helpful and friendly went out of her way to find two extra outdoor chairs for us . When the Wi Fi went of they came immediately to fix it . We would recommend the cottage to anyone definite 5 star . Unfortunately not somewhere we will return as suffering Arthritis and being 83 the surrounding area though beautiful the terrain just to difficult for me personally. A gem in Sykes .
Lovely cottage, very clean and comfortable and Bethan is a lovely, warm host. The hot tub was wonderful and would like to return

Excellent cottage, superb location. Very helpful owner. Very clean and wellequipped, although could have been better organised as far as the supply and storage of essential items was concerned. This is an old miner's cottage, superbly located and sympathetically converted. However not ideal for people of limited mobility, due to steep indoor staircase and difficulty manoeuvring baggage and other items indoors and between car and cottage. During our stay, we learned that the owners also had alternative nearby properties, all on one level, which would have been more suitable for us.
This was our second visit to Bryndan and hopefully it won't be our last. Our first visit was during last Autumn and we decided to see what it would be like there during the Spring. The cottage was just as wonderful as our first visit. Bethan was the same exceptional host as last time. But on this occasion we had the added pleasures of watching new born lambs in the neighbouring fields, the countryside festooned with loads of daffodils and some pretty amazing weather! Bryndan is a magical place. I wonder what it's like in the Summer?!

Beautifully refurbished miners cottage, with beams and plenty of room. Central heating and double glazing. Beautiful views of forest and trees and red kites.
We had a wonderful stay at Bryndan in March 2022. The cottage is so homely yet keeps its original charm and has everything you need to enjoy your time in such a beautiful scenic location. It was so very clean and comfortable. We loved the Hot tub with its lovely views and the log burner. The garden was perfect for our dog as it is fully enclosed, but may not be for smaller dogs. Lots of wonderful walks and places to see nearby, but you will need a car to get around. The owners were really friendly and helpful too. Bryndans quiet location was just what we needed to get away from it all and relax!

Outstanding value for money. Fabulous cottage and hosts exceptional. You literally cant go wrong with booking a stay here.

Gorgeous cottage in a stunning location with a wonderful host.
We had a wonderful stay over new year, the cottage was clean and beautifully looked after. Views were spectacular and ideally located for exploring. Bethan, the owner, was lovely and very helpful. We will definitely return!
I'd say the pictures don't do it justice! Beautiful surroundings and very friendly hosts. We would stay again
We had an excellent break at Bryndan. The cottage is well equipped, cozy and spotlessly clean. The owner and her family were incredibly helpful and I would recommend this property to anyone.

Bryndan is a wonderful cottage with superb hosts I can't recommend it highly enough

We spent a week here in Oct '21. Lovely restored cottage, fire, hot tub and great views. Bethan and Aneirin were great hosts. We are looking forwards to coming back again.
We've just returned from a wonderful week in Bryndan. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat with all mod cons at your disposal, then this is the place! The cottage is lovely clean, comfortable, well resourced and full of character. The local scenery is breathtaking, and the wildlife is varied and fascinating to watch. Bryndan is also a good base to tour the many popular, and not so well known, attractions in mid and north Wales. Bethan is an amazing host, warm and welcoming and always available to assist if needed. What more could you ask for?
Excellent restoration of cottage. All modern equipment installed but have kept the original cottage feel. Very peaceful and quiet and Bethan the owner could not be more helpful. Well positioned to visit a wide range of attractions. Reilly be returning next year.
Bryndan is a fantastic cottage set in a quiet rural location. We had a wonderful time with some excellent walks on your door step and the unspoilt Welsh coast only a short drive away. A must for those seeking an escape from the pressures of modern day life.
Richard
Fantastic as always 4th or 5th visit to this cottage!
Petula
The cottage is lovely. Well equipped and comfortable the hot tub is a fabulous luxury. We enjoyed the local wildlife. The local are is stunning. Bethan owner is so incredibly helpful. We loved our stay.

We stayed for a week at Bryndan. The cottage is in such a quiet spot with lovely views towards the mountains. Also the wildlife in the garden was great to see. The cottage is warm and comfortable and the hot tub is a wonderful treat to come back to at the end of a day walking. Bethan, the owner of the property, is on hand if needed and came around to introduce herself. Nothing appears to much trouble. We have stayed in several cottages on the Sykes website and Bryndan is right up there with the best.
The cottage was beautiful with everything you needed to hand. Spotlessly clean, peaceful, comfortable beds and a gorgeous hot tub. Bethan was very welcoming and helpful. Great location, firstly the views! The town itself was nice to walk around the children loved the little park and aberdovey beach a little further down the road was stunning. Will definitely visit again!

Living in the city means that places like Bryndan are just what you need when looking for a nature reset. Beautiful surroundings, wide variety of nature night on the doorstep and overall a beautiful place to unwind! The cottage is stunning and screams luxury. Every detail has been thought about down to the taps, such a high finish standard. Bethan is amazing and couldn't be more accommodating Will definitely be returning
Just returned from a lovely stay at Bryndan Cottage. We wanted to get away for a few days following the end of the fire break lockdown in Wales and what a great place we picked. The cottage was set in beautiful, quiet surrounds and the the cottage itself was done out to a high standard. It's well stocked and clean with plenty of nice touches such as a log burner for cosy evenings and a hot tub overlooking farm lands. Highly recommend Bryndan cottage for anyone like us who just wants to get away for a few days and enjoy a change of scenery. Thankyou
Excellent cottage set in a rural location but close enough to local amenities and the Snowdonia National Park. Cottage has many of the original features and the hot tub is perfect, with views of the surrounding countryside. Hosts were very helpful and would definitely recommend the cottage to others.
