Clwyd Cottage Reviews

Beverley
We had a lovely comfortable stay the beds were so comfortable. The cottage was nice and clean and we will be looking at staying again in the near future. Plenty of nice walks with the dogs. The back garden was secure and we didn't need to worry when letting the dogs out. Beautiful weekend break away.

Great holiday lovely cottage wouu would do back again

Absolutely
We had a really enjoyable stay at Clwyd Cottage. We found the cottage to be clean but poorly stocked with general kitchen ware. We did have an initial problem with getting the induction hob to work with the pots & pans provided however once we reported this to the owner he very quickly supplied us with brand new pots & pans along with one or two other things that were needed and the owner delivered these personally the same day along with a complimentary bottle of wine. Excellent service. Overall we would recommend staying at this cottage along with other nice properties that were on the same site. The owner arranged for us to visit Home Farm which is a much bigger property ideal for larger family stays which we are considering booking in the future.
We had a lovely stay in Clwyd cottage. Very homely and clean. Enclosed garden for the dogs was absolutely brilliant. Ample parking which made it easy to unloadload. Perfect location very central to many attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Wales. Would highly recommend. Thankyou.
We had a brilliant time at Clwyd Cottage this week. Its a beautiful cottage in a secluded location thats not far at all from the main attractions of North Wales, and a lovely place to unwind. Would highly recommend.
We had a lovely weeks' stay here during the very warm week in June, the cottage is located in a lovely area and it remained quite cool inside during the hot days. We did bring our own parasol for the outdoor table as not sure there was one, so take your own! Hot tub is covered by a solid roofed pagoda and enjoyed it to cool down in. Well equipped kitchen with lots of counter space & cupboard storage. We did have to buy a set a scissors for ourselves as none provided. Comfy beds and seating. Quiet area and we enjoyed walking up and down the lane, central to lots of local attractions. Definitely recommended.

Lovely cottage in a lovely, quiet area. The hot tub was nice and hot when we arrived so unpacked and got in. Recommend The Dinorben Arms for a very good Sunday roast the lamb was delicious and Denbigh Con Amici Italian Bar and Kitchen.
Very very disappointed. Unclean, parts of it filthy! Needs lots of attention hot tub cover torn rotten hot tub needs deep clean hobs on cooker hit n miss fridge door no shelves for bottles bin no lid every other handle on drawers loose bbq filthy not attempted to clean pillows need replacing all in all absolute disgrace to be hiring this cottage out in this condition worse place we've stayed!! Came home day early couldn't bear it any longerShame because it's a beautiful part of the UK definitely worth exploring.

Enjoyed our stay over the bank holiday. Lovely cottage in a quiet area, enclosed garden for our dog and an accessible parking space outside making it easy to loadunload the car. However, the kitchen and bedroom was filthy. We had to wash cutlerydishes and appliances before using as they were covered in food. Main bedroom was covered floor to ceiling in dust and cobwebs, windowsills had dead flies on them. Minor issues but easy to avoid with a proper cleaning team.
Teresa
A beautiful little cottage. ... Enjoyed stay however there were a few niggles.... Hot tub cold on arrival, couldn't use until day 2. The provided Pans don't work on the hob except the large fry pan which is in need of replacement, so had to use the sandwich press to cook bacon and eggs. There wasn't a toilet brush ? Also would be a good idea for the maintenance person to knock on and let people know they need to go in the garden to maintain hot tub instead of just walking in especially when dogs are or could be in the garden.... I think the guy got a shock....
Had a great stay. Nice location couple miles from St Asaph. Nice and peaceful. Only crticism i could make is there was only 1 log provided for the burner. I would have brought some if known in advance. Hot tub great although as per previous review due to time to warm up it wasnt ready for 1st night given the outdoor temperature
Not impressed. Drove from London to the cottage 600 nearly for 3 nights and the kitchen bin had no lid flap, the shelf in the fridge was snapped off and on top of the cooker hood. Holes in the bathroom cladding, mouldy sealant and seals in bathroom, bbq grill hadnt been cleaned, oven was dirty, and the only pan that worked on the induction hob was the frying pan. I complained to Sykes cottages with photos but the owner has not responded a month later, and Sykes cottages have told me I have to take it up with the owner myself. Beds were very comfy, and hot tub was great but doesnt excuse the rest.

When we first got to the Cottage my husband and I were overjoyed, this was a little birthday getaway and something to do differently for New Year, there was a lovely Christmas tree all lit and Prosecco on arrival. However as our stay continued there where certain aspects that was not what we expected. The hot tub was not ready to use, and we contacted the owners who advised that because they empty and refill for each new arrival, it would take time to warm up they did apologise and we were able to use the hot tub the day after however this was one of the selling features of the cottage. The oven was a disgrace and was not clean at all, the light wouldnt work on the oven and in the end we refused to cook on it, even the frying pans that were provided were not clean. pictures can be provided. The accessories that were provided in the kitchen were not hygienic for instance underneath the chopping board there was grease and needed a good clean, there was some brown sauce left in one of the cupboards and when we picked it up there was a sticky residue ring mark left, it was obvious the cupboards had not been cleaned for a while
This was our very first time staying in a cottage was I surprised it was beautiful well kept, everything you needed in the kitchen excellent towels in bathroom powerful shower could do with handle on wall to grab when getting in and out of bath safety We all enjoyed the walks around the estate so peaceful and views to die for. .. Wood stove was fantastic in the evening ...we WILL BE BACK !!!!!
Nicola
Returned home today after an amazingly relaxing week at Clwyd Cottage! ! The cottage was lovely and clean and very dog friendly, the enclosed garden was perfect for our two dogs, with lovely local walks and a short drive to the beaches they are thoroughly fed up to be back home. The location of the cottage is great. It's very peaceful yet close enough to pop into St Asaph. We enjoyed a walk up the river in the evenings and then picked up a take away or went to the plough highly recommended for dinner. The cottage is very well equipped from kitchen equipment to cleaning products and of course the wonderful hot tub on the patio, the only thing I missed was a washing line for hot tub towels and costumes etc although we hung them on the railings when it wasn't windy. All in all we were wanting a rest and reset week away and we got exactly that!! Will definitely be regular visitors in the future!!
Excellent cottage and amenities loved our stay and so dog friendly would ... Excellent cottage and amenities loved our stay and so dog friendly would certainly recommend this cottage and the hot tub just rounds of the day
Patricia
Lovely cottage in a good central position for exploring the area.
Leanne
This is a great little cottage. Lovely area being only 20 mins from the beach and 50mins to Mt Snowdon, there's loads of things to do. Enclosed garden so my dog could roam free off the lead with the added bonus of a hot tub which was amazing after walking up snowdon. My only advice would be that although it sleeps 4 the cottage is quite small so would be tight for 4 people. 2 people and a dog or 2 would be suitable. It was just me and 1 dog for 3 nights which was perfect. I would definitely recommend and stay again myself.
Very pleasant property , ideal location for exploring North Wales. The back garden is enclosed so is ideal if you have a dog. The kitchen is well equipped fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Little niggles the lock on the bathroom door it either needs replacing or removing. The lounge has a two seater Chesterfield style couch comfortable and two very upright chesterfield style chair which were not very comfortable for relaxing on in the evening. This maybe an issue if 4 of you are using the property. Parking next to the property which is great for packing and unloading. A lovely property in a great location.
Very clean, comfortable beds, nice location and just big enough for 2 adults and 1 child. Some little things that need attention like knobs kept falling of drawers in twin bedroom, light bulb flickering in bedside lamp. Ceiling light fixture not fitted correctly in bedroom so was slanting with bare wires showing and shelf in bedroom slanting so unable to use it as a dressing table as nothing would stay put. The biggest annoyance was the constantly barking dog from behind the cottage, eventually shut up at 1112pm most nights so a nice relaxing evening in the hot tub was spoilt. When it wasnt barking it was lovely and quiet and if I could have figured out who it belonged to I would have told the owners but because of the layout of the cottages it was difficult to figure out.
Steven
The cottage was lovely, very comfy and perfect for the dogs. Faculties were also good. Location was perfect for exploring local areas such as Rhyl, Llandudno and Comwy.
Joanne
Lovely little cottage however the comfort of the living room is not great for chilling in front of the fire with a family of 4. Beds were comfy, lots of DIY needed to be completed prior to our visit which would of enhanced the experience but on the whole was enjoyable and owners were very helpful
We stayed in the cottage 814 October. It was a lovely little cottage, very welcoming and perfect for our needs in a beautiful setting. The rooms were tidy, beds comfy, with a lovely hot tub and log burner. The large mirror in the master bedroom was a big hit with my wife for getting ready too. There were just a few little things we feel we ought to point out that you may not be aware of. There are two frying pans for the induction hob however only one of the pans is induction. Some of the saucepans for some reason dont always register with the induction hob. The oven takes a good while to heat up and could do with a clean as theres a lot of grease inside which led to setting off the smoke alarm when it heated up. The knife block has some missing knives but the main issue is the little knife in the block is wobbly and had a tendency to come out of the handle. The missing fridge shelf was also a shame. In the master bedroom as youre facing the bed, the lamp on the left has a flickering bulb and the shelf underneath the mirror could do with tightening up as the shelf is sloping so things have a tendency to slide off. In the living room there is another bulb out in the wall light closest to the back door. We also had to clean the fireplace out before we could use it as it was full of ash. In the garden the fairy lights didnt appear to work but again this is just to make you aware. None of the above made for an unpleasant stay we just thought it might be helpful to point out for future guests.
Penelope
We had a very happy few days at Clwyd Cottage. It is very tastefully appointed and had everything we needed for a very pleasant and comfortable stay. We were just disappointed that the checkout time of 10.00am was not adhered to, the guy cleaning the hot tub arrived well before the time and began on the hot tub without even introducing himself or even letting us know that he had arrived. Apart from that, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this cottage.
Lovely quite private setting ,generally ok ,however decor was tired ,pant peeling off walls ,mold in shower ,shelf's falling off walls ,broken fridge door and fridge not clean ,garden needed weeding ,needs somewhere for drying towels and swimwear ,hot tub had not been cleaned had quite a lot of sand in the bottom from previous occupants, dirty cutlery and plates we had to wash everything . There where no instructions left on what to do on departure we tried to hoover before we left but found the hoover not working , covid QR code found in drawer under cooker instructions not out on display .these are all very minor faults that can be easily corrected with a good cleaning team and a days maintenance.Which needs to be done sooner rather than latter .
The hosts were very friendly and responded promptly when contacted. Great base to stay in a lovely area.
Louise
The cottage was fantastic, immaculately clean, in a beautiful setting! Couldnt have asked for a nicer weekend break.
Bernadette
Nice cottage with everything you need and has a great hot tub. St ASaph is about a 50 min walk. Its a good location but would need a car if you plan to visit other places Snowdonia 50 mins, Prestatyn 25 mins, Llandudno 40 mins, Rhyl 20 mins. Overall would recommend Clwyd Cottage and would stay there again
We had a lovely week in this holiday cottage. The welsh weather was very kind to us which allowed us to use the outside area for every meal. The hot tub was great and when we had a slight problem the owners were very helpful and responsive. The garden is very private. We were a family of 4, the inside accommodation is quite small and Im not sure how we would have eaten every meal as a family inside as the kitchen table is against a wall and not a lot of room to pull it out The beds are very comfy and the shower is excellent. The kitchen is well appointed, instructions to use the hob would have been useful but were not used to induction! There is a small dishwasher and wifi was good. There is also a DVD player and smart tv. The cottage is in a lovely location and close to lots of interesting places to visit. We would recommend a stay here.
We stayed at Clwyd cottage and it was absolutely beautiful. The cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived, very clean and comfortable. The hot tub was amazing, we spent a lot of time in there All in all, a really nice relaxing break. We are already looking to book again.
Andrew
Had a lovely stay here, cottage is very well appointed and a good size for 4 guests.
The cottage was lovely & the owners were very accommodating, would definitely use them again.
Lovely cottage, very clean, and had everything we needed. Thank you for a lovely stay X
Alastair
The cottage was just lovely and the grounds on the estate were splendid and peaceful. Woke up to bird song and a hot tub and St Asaph was a great base to go explore the beautiful beaches, inland villages and Snowdin National Park. We loved it.
Four ladies, went for a couple of nights, it was great, we really enjoyed it. Hot tub lovely and private, the setting is idyllic. would highly recommend and probably will go again. Thank you.
