Pippa and John very welcoming. For those with dogs the paddock is great for ball throwing (as well as having beautiful mini gardens with seats all over the place), and the canal walk is wonderful. Cottage very comfortable and warm. We'll be back!
Stephen
We and our dog Lola had a wonderful time at this comfortable and well equipped cottage, and many thanks to Pippa and John for being such great hosts. There are many local walks and we especially enjoyed the flat walks along the canal and the more strenuous walks up Sugar Loaf mountain, the Lonely Shepherd rock and the 4 Waterfalls. The hot tub was a welcome way to relax after our days outs, enjoying the beautiful scenery with a glass of wine. Lola loved playing ball in the secure paddock area.
Vivien

Fantastic location - the view from the hot tub is stunning! We were absolutely left to our own devices and it was so peaceful and private. Its an easy drive into Abergavenny which is well worth a visit or three, a surprising number of high quality restaurants and plenty of things to do. We walked the canal tow path into Abergavenny too which is a b eautiful flat walk. A couple of friendly pubs nearby, one which serves food but nothing to write home about. Would return 100%
Abi
Lovely cosy cottage and owners couldnt do enough for you . Hot tub was amazing
Gabrielle
The cottage is lovely, welcoming and the hot tub was very relaxing. Pippa and John are amazing hosts. Our dogs loved the paddock. The views were incredible. If you take your dogs with you, you need to be aware that Boswell (owners dog) can come right up to the fence, so if your dogs are bothered you need to plan for this. Having said that, Pippa an d John were amazingly understanding with our anxious dog so do not discount the amazing holiday you can have
Rae
Beautiful property, surrounded by amazing landscape. Hot tub was lovely and the view was breathtaking. Pippa and John are very welcoming. I would highly recommend.
Chris
An absolutely lovely holiday. The location is stunning and our two dogs loved running in the paddock. Well definitely book again for next year!

The hot tub was so appreciated as were the lovely Welsh cakes and milk which awaited our arrival. We had a fantastic time and Fleur thoroughly enjoyed herself. It was great to have Bos well visit each morning and afternoon for his daily treats! Thank you Pippa and John for making our holiday so perfect.
Tony

Kendra
Really sweet and simple which is perfect when you have two dogs. The owners were super and truly dog lovers. The dog paddock was another excellent bonus. Lovely garden. Great location, lovely view, grocery nearby. We would go trekking in the morning, come back for a late lunch and lie about for the afternoon. Read, studied. Dogs out to the paddock afternoon and last thing before we got into the hot tub and then into the very comfy bed. We definitely relaxed on this holiday.
Elaine
Had a very relaxing stay at Little Orchard and made to feel extremely welcome by Pippa, John and Boswell. Cottage is very well equipped, Pippa has truly thought of everything, with added bonus of the hot tub looking over beautiful scenic mountain views. Very dog friendly with use of grounds and enclosed paddock backing onto the canal for further wa lks. Would not hesitate to recommend.
Nicola
We found this property purely by chance & it fulfilled all our expectations & more The property is more than spacious for 2 people & 2 dogs . Lovely big & comfortable bed. Warm & cosy. Hot tub & decking perfect with an amazing view. The owners made us very welcome . Their garden is amazing & would love to return in the Summer when it is full bloom. The paddock was a true bonus for the dogs to run in morning & night. The location was ideal for exploring the canal. A truly wonderful holiday
Andrea
We knew as soon as we saw the cottage that we were going to have the most wonderful week. We certainly did ! The cottage was spotlessly clean and we had the warmest of welcomes. What a lovely touch. The view was amazing and I never tired of wandering around the grounds and sitting in the hideaway. The lounge was spacious , cosy and warm, the kitch en was very well equipped, the bathroom very accessible and so much storage in the bedroom with a very comfy bed. The jacuzzi was such a treat and the little balcony area with a view over a garden and out towards the Sugar Loaf Mountain was incredible. We felt so lucky to have found such a gem of a place to stay, especially as its so dog friendly .We didnt have time to do much exploring as the weather was so incredibly warm for March and we were on holiday to chill out. Whod want to travel far when you have an amazing view the sun is shining and so many gardens to sit in? The dog paddock was wonderful with all the primroses out and we made friends with Boswell and made a fuss of the dear ponies. The cottage is so close to the Canal towpath and we never tired of walking along it in both directions and discovering its history. We went to Clydach which was interesting and Clydach Gorge is beautiful. Abergavenny is only a few miles away and is lovely little market town with a traditional market and supermarkets. Gilwern has little food shops, places to eat and everyone was so friendly. We highly recommend Little Orchard Retreat and weve already booked two weeks next year as we enjoyed our stay so much.
Kayleigh
Absolutely amazing, hosts were so welcoming and retreat had everything we needed for a perfect break. Plus really dog friendly, so we were all able to enjoy our holiday! We loved the dog paddock, garden, retreat and hot tub, will def be going back soon!!
Chris
We had such a great stay! There was everything we needed and more, incl. an amazing view from the terrace hot tub. The place felt very cosy with the eletric fire oven, and the bed was super wide and comfy. The gardens were fun to explore. Loved it all, thanks Pippa and John for a great long weekend!
christine
We had a wonderful few days over Christmas despite the weather doing its best to spoil it. The welcome was warm as was the cottage and the hot tub. Extremely well equipped and comfortable. The grounds were great and the dogs enjoyed the off lead opportunity in the paddock. We loved the easy access to walks along the tow path. Safe off road parking is a bonus.
