High Hemmel House Reviews

Alison
I have just returned from a three night stay at Hemel House which was arranged as an annual catch up with a group of work friends. The accommodation exceeded our expectations and the location was perfect for walking. There was everything we needed to help us unwind and refuel. The interior is finished to a very high standard it was warm comfortable and met all of our needs. We made use of the hot tub and beautiful pool. The additional welcome pack of provisions is also a lovely touch. I have no hesitation about recommending the property to others and am aware one of the guests is very keen to return with her family. We have made new memories to treasure! Many thanks for a wonderful stay.

We were a party of 7 ladies looking for a Christmas get together. I found this property and it was perfect and certainly more than met our expectations. We have had a fantastic weekend. The views are stunning and the cottage itself was immaculate with some lovely little touches especially the Christmas Tree. We loved it so much that we have already booked for the same time next year.
We had an amazing stay at High Hemmel House. We will definitely be back.. plenty of room for us all & very comfortable. My only comment is there could be better drying facilities e.g a tumble dryer. With there being a hot tub and swimming pool, lots of towels are used and need to get dry. Apart from that, it was perfect!
The welcome pack was lovely and enjoyed by all. The house had great facilities and spacious for our family of 7. The heated pool had great views and we used our sessions freely during our stay. Our grandson enjoyed the play area and feeding the ducks. The hot tub was a great addition to the property and was used on many occasions. The walk to the beach was about a 1 mile through the fields. We loved our stay in North Farm cottages and hope to return again another time.
Fantastic place. We had a really great week. The swimming pool facility was really enjoyed by all.

Great stay at High Hemmel House, property lovely.

We absolutely loved our stay at high Hemmel house. We thought the pictures didnt do it any justice, as a group we were so impressed with the house and the facilities. The fresh bread, butter, milk and orange juice was a lovely touch and the views were fabulous! We are already planning our next stay and we have recommended it to other friends and family.

We stayed over Christmas and had a lovely time cottage was perfect for our family of 7 adults and one 2 year old, it was well equipped with a very thoughtful welcome pack and is in a great location. Having use of the swimming pool was a great plus point for us fabulous to have these facilities to ourselves. The adjoining bedrooms are perhaps the only minus point but we knew about this on booking would work perfectly for a family parents but not so much for adults. Note to the owners the bottom step is virtually invisible even when the hall is lit three of us missed this step and fell ! Some drawers in bedrooms hooks in bathrooms would be useful but not a complaint just an observation.
Michelle
Loved our stay it was our second visit. Just a couple of issues . The hot tub lid would not stay open. We could not close the diwnstairs bedroom window
Clean, good provisions and fabulous amenities in using hot tub and swimming pool. We will definitely return.
Beautiful property with plenty of space and the hot tub was perfect for the evenings. The playground was a good size for my 2 year old and the private pool was a big hit for all.
Sharon
Lovely location. The children enjoyed the swimming pool and play area but the older children were disappointed that there was no games room as stated in the features list on Sykes website.
We had a lovely stay at High Hemmel House. Property was well equipped and very comfortable. The hot tub was super! We loved our sessions in the private pool. The surrounding area is beautiful and we enjoyed the walk to the beach. Beach itself is stunning. We would highly recommend North Farm Cottages and we hope to return.

Fantastic family holiday. Excellent location. Near the beach, seahouses and Bamburgh. Having the swimming pool on site was brilliant! Close to Dunstunburgh golf, another added bonus. The site is very well maintained. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Fantastic holiday
Wonderful location and facilities. Friendly helpful owner and staff. swimming pool and hot tub really great for a family holiday.
Really warm and comfortable property. Having the swimming pool on site was a great feature and would be fab for families especially if the weather was poor. Hot tub was great and was ready for us to use when we arrived. Kitchen was very well equipped. Very comfortable beds and plenty of storage space. Excellent location and ideally situated for exploring the local area. There are recycling bins on site but it might be a good idea to have a box in the cottage for recycling. Would definitely rebook.
Catherine
Well we were struck by Storm Arwen when we were away which meant 24 hours plus without power. The owner kindly provided extra logs for the wood burner without charge and when they could, the contact members in the file at the cottage responded to our texts to let us know which shops were open, which roads were closed etc. This was the third stay for us at High Hemmel House and we are already booked up again for next year. Thank you
Very comfortable cottage. Perfect for families.
Maybe dressing tables are needed in bedrooms, couple nice lounging chairs around hot tub.
Great cottage well equipped . Hot tub was a bonus and the pool a treat . Beautiful location .
Great location, close to a number of beautiful beaches. Excellent facilities on site. Challenging golf courses nearby. Would recommend this site and the location, particularly for families with young children who want to build sandcastles and explore the coast. If you want sandy beaches but without the crowds this is the place to go!
Beautiful accommodation great facilities and lovely location. Would highly recommend I will definitely be back !
Accurate description of the property in the listing. The property is located in an ideal location for exploring Northumberland and the villages nearby
Had a lovely family holiday in Northumberland! High Hemmel house is a great location for exploring the area! The walk to the beach as stated was more like a 45 min hike and with 2 little ones very tricky certainly couldn't carry all your beach stuff there also but could sea the see from the cottage Hot tub was lovely as was the pool If you want a great family break in a beautiful location this is perfect but just take lots of extra bits with you as nothing provided
Catherine
Lovely cottage, spotless clean and everything we could have wished for. A great place for a catch up with our group of 6 of school friends, and we are all in our 40s now. Thank you
Michelle
Lovely time spent with friends . Lovely house with all we needed . Met by hosts and made to feel welcome
Very disappointed in standard of bedding and towels. Bedding was bobbled it was so worn and towels very thin and tiny. Only tiny striped towels for hot tub. The carpet in the down stairs bedroom was stained. The cottage had been recommended to us and previous occupants had had fluffy towels and robes in the past. The times for check in and check out were very confusing one email said 3 pm check in and 10am checkout others said 4 pm and 11 am.... We tried to phone the numbers left in the book re the hot tub and times but none were available which is not good.No one came to see if we were ok throughout our stay ,we were left to work everything out.. We only had access to the pool for one hour each morning which was not in the booking details. Finally one of the cottages opposite us has their toilet right in the window . It is not pleasant sitting in your lounge seeing people very obviously at their ablutions! Given the price for the cottage which is supposed to be 4 to 5 star rating I was very disappointed. The cottage is beautifully laid out and in a perfect location and small details and personal touches would put it up to 4 star but in present condition I really couldnt rate it above a 3.
This is a fantastic cottage, the facilities are amazing, the people on site as very professional, Allan was brilliant and responded to our queries quickly and efficiently. The cleaners do a fantastic job too, the cleaning is out of this world, a full in depth clean, the company have a fantastic team on board.
The cottage was excellent with wonderful views of the sea and a nice walk to the beach about 20 minutes walk to nearest or 35 minutes round the Golf course clubhouse and beach there. Cottage was clean, comfortable with very good facilities and Hot Tub. High Hemel House. Embleton is a nice village only minutes walk away with a local village shop Londis and a nice pub Greys Inn about 8 different beers including John Smiths and Theaksrons and a variety of local beers too. We had an excellent family break, village quiet but nice. Regards RJ
A wonderful location for a family holiday across three generations. Views spectacular, swimming pool great and a winner for the children was the hot tub. Our youngest grandchild managed to swim unaided during our week which was wonderful. The location of the cottage was great for exploring the area. Only down side was the weather but it did not take away from our enjoyment. We will definitely be returning to the area and these cottages in the future.
The views when we arrived were absolutely stunning . The cottage was everything we hoped for...clean spacious and very well equipped.
Sheila
The cottage was so clean no horrible smells that you sometimes get with cottages ! Jacuzzi a treat and again really clean even saw the maintenance guy cleaning it all out as we were leaving on the Friday ready for the next guests Swimming pool a bonus and again spotless but think online booking would work better than having a slot allocated . Some parties did not use their allocated time and if booked online could cancel so others could book . Had a great time with our children and granddaughters would certainly book again
Gordon
Absolutely first class should totally recommend High Hemmell to all my friends.
Christine
Lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Lots of thoughtful little touches. We loved the path to the beach and the view from the front garden.
This is our second holiday in the cottage and weve booked up for next year! Its a beautiful cottage with everything you need to have a wonderful holiday. We are a group of 7 female friends and we all think it is perfect. The hot tub and swimming pools are luxurious extras which we love. Its quiet & comfortable with beautiful surroundings.
Elizabeth

Alnwick Castle and Gardens - NE66 1NQ
about 6 Miles
Alnwick Castle and Gardens today are perhaps best known for their roles as Hogwarts in Harry Potter movies but have for many years been a family favourite attraction in Northumberland. The beautiful medieval castle is open to the public and during school holidays and at Christmas and Halloween a range of activities can be enjoyed including Santa's Workshop, a Pumpkin Parade, Spell Making Lessons and Owl and Bird of Prey Flying.
Cragside House and Gardens - NE65 7PX
about 16 Miles
Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. World of the Water Wizard is currently on display.
Conundrum Farm - EX5 3AQ
about 25 Miles
With easy access from the A1 this lovely farm just north of Berwick makes a fantastic family day out.  Follow the farm trail and meet an array of friendly farm animals.  Kids will also enjoy the indoor and outdoor play areas, pet barn and tractor circuit.  The admission fee is excellent value and you will get a free bag of food for the animals and a bag of fish food for the trouts in the fish pond. When you want a bite to eat, the licensed restaurant is the place to go with quality home cooking and a charming location in some of the converted farm buildings.
