during your rural escape in the small village of glasshouses, wander around the village and stop at the local art gallery before enjoying a walk along the river nidd. take your little ones to pateley bridge (1.5 miles) to find the oldest sweet shop in england. admire the rhs gardens at harlow carr (13 miles), then browse the boutique and antique shops and enjoy a pick-me-up in the tearooms or cafes. history enthusiasts shouldn’t miss a visit to the nidderdale museum (1.5 miles) and druid’s temple (14 miles). you could also hike around brimham rocks (3 miles), nidd gorge (13 miles) and nought moor (2.5 miles).
