We had a fantastic time, lovely Cottage, lovely views, lovely animals and lovely people. Sam and Paul are wonderful hosts and really made an effort to make our stay as enjoyable as it could be. Thank you
My husband and I had a wonderful week at Speight Cottage. Sam and Paul are the perfect hosts. It's in the most perfect location, with views to die for. The more you look, the more you see. I loved having highland cows, donkeys, sheep and chickens for neighbours. The dogs are wonderful and will always welcome a fuss. The cottage is in the perfect location for exploring the Lakes and the Dales. So much to go and see. We will definitely be back! Thank you so much!
The cottage was lovely. Me and Jay fell in love with it immediately. We loved getting to meet all the animals and the owners could not have made us feel more welcome
We loved our 4 day stay at Speight Cottage. Perfect hosts with a very warm welcome. Freerange chickens & dogs paid us regular visits but if that's not your thing, you can always close the gate. Thoroughly enjoyed our walks along the river and up on the fells followed by an evening soak in the hot tub and then sitting in front of the log burner. Would thoroughly recommend and thank you.
Amanda
We had a wonderful and relaxing short break. The hosts were brilliant and made us feel very welcome and so did the dogs. In a beautiful setting, the cottage was very warm and cosy with everything we needed.
Lovely cottage based in the West Yorkshire Dales was around a 4560 minute drive to the Lake District so you had plenty of places to visit. The cottage was very well equipped with beautiful views over the Dales. The owners were friendly and welcoming would definitely recommend a stay.
William

Warm and friendly welcome. Cosy cottage with beautiful views. Lots of local walks or equally nice to relax in and around the hot tub with a good book.
Speight cottage was just what we were looking for, a nice cozy place equipped with all we needed, set in a very nice spot and the hot tub was much appreciated most evenings. The owners were very welcoming and we enjoyed being visited most days by their lovely dogs. Plenty of walking opportunities from the door, the Howgills offer good routes with fantastic views over Morecambe Bay and the Lake District .

Speight cottage ticks all the boxes, we loved our stay there and would recommend to friends and family. Everything about our stay was perfect, the owners and farm animals and their lovely doggies are very friendly. The only problem was having to leave! If we stay in the area again it will definitely be at Speight Cottage.
We loved this cottage. It had everything we needed and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The views from the cottage, outside area, and hot tub are perfect. The owners make you feel very welcome and we enjoyed the daily visits from their friendly dogs. The welcome pack of bacon, eggs, milk and fresh scones was much appreciated. We hope to visit again! Thank you.

Fantastic converted cottage set in truly beautiful Cumbrian countryside with a number of picturesque walks available from the doorstep. Loved staying on a working farm waking up to see donkeys, chickens and Highland cows roaming freely. Paul and Sam both very friendly owners and happy to chat about their experiences. Has all the amenities you could ask for from a one bedroom cottage, including the super sized hot tub offering amazing views to the river and dark skies stars. I can't recommend enough the local walks which have directions supplied in leaflets in the cottage. I'd planned a few drives out to Dales peaks and other walks but in the end there really was no need. Definitely also should check out Farfield Mill just a few 100m walk away with lots of great art and knick knacks and really tasty food at the cafe. Great way to celebrate my 50th.

Had a wonderful stay here, so much so that we booked an extra night whilst there. Hosts are very welcoming and the facilities provided are excellent. Great view from the cottage and hot tub and some great walks literally on the door step so ideal if you have dogs. The cottage is small but ideal for two people and the hot tub is huge! It has everything you need including a few items on arrival such as scones, fresh bacon, tea etc Location wise its a 5 minute drive to Sedbergh and slightly further out from numerous other places that are worth visiting including the lakes. Would recommend to anyone and we are already looking at returning in the future.
Immaculate accommodation, loved all the items in the welcome pack. The cottage is very tastefully decorated, and extremely comfortable. The hot tub has the most fabulous views. We loved every bit of our stay, in an ideal location for walking and cycling. The animals were especially welcoming as well. I fell in love with all the dogs!
Idyllic cottage with beautiful views of the river. Spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything that you need. Fantastic location for exploring the Dales and the South Lakes areas. Sam and Paul are perfect hosts, and the hot tub is just the icing on the cake. We had a perfect week for our anniversary.
Absolutely fantastic stay for my partners birthday weekend away. Its such a lovely little cottage in an amazing location for big walks and pub lunches. The owners were very welcoming and kindly left us a selection of fresh local eggs, bread, bacon and scones to enjoy on arrival. But the best part was the array of animals to interact with and the relaxing hottub in the evening you couldnt beat it!
Excellent location, excellent accommodation, perfect host. Couldnt fault!
Christian
A lovely place to stay. We felt really welcome & at home. Highly recommended. Many thanks & best wishes
We had a delightful stay at Speight Cottage and it was exactly what we needed just before Christmas. The owners were extremely welcoming and even provided us with fresh bread, scones, eggs and bacon which we thought was a lovely touch. We particularly enjoyed getting to meet all the animals and felt like we had the perfect balance of having our own space and interacting when we wanted to the cottage itself was spotless and so cosy and had everything we needed for our stay. Im sure well be back thank you!
Jasmin
Wonderful Cottage, fantastic views and really welcoming owners. Thank you for a great holiday. We definitely hope to return.
Wow, absolutely fantastic cottage. Faultless. From the welcome, all the way through to leaving, we've had a brilliant stay. The cottage is perfect, immaculate well stocked with everything you could need. The hot tub was the icing on the cake. I really couldn't recommend Speight cottage highly enough. Can't wait to return. Thank you Sam, you're a great host. Good luck going forwards.
Loved our stay here, so homely, clean and comfy. Perfect spot for us with our dog walking and hiking. The owners made us feel very welcome. Will 100 stay here again!
Thank you so much, such a lovely place to stay.
Fantastic little cottage, perfect for two for a cosy break. Lovely welcome pack on arrival, really enjoyed the homemade scones, such a nice touch. Great facilities including a washdry room which was handy after getting muddied up on walks! Perfectly located cottage to reach loads of lovely local walks, we didnt even have to take the car out! A short walk down the river takes you to Sedburgh with some shops & pubs. Appreciated the hot tub with great views after our long walks. Thanks to the hosts Sam & Paul & all the animals for a lovely stay.
Just come back from a lovely weekend at Speight Cottage and would highly recommend. The cottage has everything we needed it was well equipped, spotlessly clean and welcoming. There was direct access to the Howgills and to delightful river walks along the valley. Sedbergh and Fairfield Mill were very local for eating out and shopping. The hottub was a treat after a day spent in the outdoors, especially with its views over donkeys, chickens, riverbanks, fells and the setting sun in the distance. We slept soundly in the extremely comfy bed and there was ample hot water for showers. When booking I was a little concerned about the 'A' road close by, but in fact it is just a country lane with little traffic. Paul and Sam are kind and generous hosts.
Had a lovely week in cottage very high standard . Nice Surprise of a welcome pack from Sam and Paul who are amazing hosts and the dogs greeting us everyday, also nice to come back to hot tub after a day out.Fantastic holiday would recommend this cottage to anyone.
Tracey
We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at Speight Cottage. Paul, Sam and their animals were extremely welcoming with just the right balance of being around and leaving us to enjoy the peace and quiet. Their welcome pack was a lovely touch. The cottage is well equipped with everything we needed, very clean & tidy. The outdoor space is perfect. Relaxing in the hot tub after a walk along the river to the village was wonderful. We would be more than happy to return to Speight Cottage.
Great hosts, great accommodation, and great views. Best hot tub weekend I've ever been on
A beautiful cosy little cottage, loved the way the renovation had been done showing the beams and stonework yet with lovely modern conveniences which were sympathetic to the style of the old. The cottage was spotless, the setting idyllic and the views stunning. The owners Sam and Paul were so welcoming and the animals just finished it off, especially the the friendly dogs. I would highly recommend Speight Cottage to anyone whether you are wanting a walking holiday or somewhere just to wind down and relax.
Adrian
Beautiful cottage set in stunning scenery couldn't of wished for a better place to stay for a mini break. Very welcoming owners on our arrival and throughout the stay. The scones, clotted cream, bread, eggs and bacon went down a treat. Definitely recommend speight cottage .

Speight Cottage privides a fabulous romantic getaway for 2! We were given such a warm welcome from Paul and Sam and their various animals! The cottage itself is very comfortableespecially the kingsized bed... we had the best nights sleep in a long time! complete with everything we needed for our 3 night break. The cottage is perfectly positioned with amazing views which we appreciated from the hot tub! With just a short walk along the river into Sedbergh we enjoyed more picturesque countryside on our way to a beautiful market town hosting fabulous pubs, bars and restaurants. We recommend it highly.
We had a lovely 28th wedding anniversary at Speight Cottage. Snug and comfortable for two people. The hot tub was wonderful with beautiful scenic views over the fields and fells. Friendly owners. Generously gave us delicious eggs from their free range hens. They had five very friendly dogs. It was a joy to see them running around in the field below the cottage. The first weekend that spring had sprung. Highly recommended for a relaxing weekend break.
This cottage is amazing . We have used many cottages, this was possibly the best great setting, lovely and clean. The owners are loverly and the dogs, chickens, donkeys, and csttle made our stay. Will be going back Frank

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
