Bournemouth Cottages with Hot Tubs: 6 Stays Near the Beach

Bournemouth cottages with hot tub gardens, from Sopley huts for two to New Forest houses for 8, plus dog beach rules and Christmas 2026 dates.

Sandy cliffs, pine trees and a hot tub on the deck: the Bournemouth coast at its best in the evening

Picture it. You’ve spent the day on seven miles of sandy beach, walked the pier and eaten chips on the prom, and now you’re back at the cottage with the bubbles on, a drink in hand and the sky going pink over the trees.

That’s the appeal of Bournemouth cottages with hot tub decks and gardens.

The resort gives you the beaches, the piers and the attractions, while the countryside around it in Dorset and the New Forest gives you space, quiet and your own private hot tub to come home to. Most of the stays below sit a short drive from Bournemouth, in Sopley, Horton, Sway or on a farm near Wimborne, where you’ll hear owls instead of traffic.

Where are the cottages in Bournemouth with hot tub gardens?

Here’s the honest answer. Bournemouth is a big seaside town of hotels and apartments, so very little holiday accommodation in the centre has room for an outdoor hot tub and garden. The good ones are in the countryside that rings it: the farms around Wimborne Minster to the north, the Avon valley around Sopley and Christchurch to the east, and the woodland villages just over the Hampshire border.

It works in your favour.

A holiday cottage or house with a hot tub out here gives you a proper garden, parking by the door and a quiet soak, and the sand from Alum Chine to Hengistbury Head is never far away. There are more across the county on our Dorset hot tub cottages page.

Christchurch, Poole, Purbeck or the New Forest: where to explore

Christchurch and Mudeford

Christchurch sits where the Stour and the Avon meet the harbour, east of Bournemouth. Mudeford’s quay is the spot for crabbing and a seafood lunch.

Poole and Sandbanks

West of town, Poole Harbour is one of the largest natural harbours in the world, and Sandbanks has held a Blue Flag in every one of the award’s 39 years! Boats leave Poole Quay for Brownsea Island and its red squirrels. The National Trust reopened the island on 14 March 2026, and it usually closes to visitors from November until spring, so check before you go. Poole’s restaurants on the quay are a fine reward afterwards.

Purbeck, Swanage and Wareham

Take the chain ferry from Sandbanks to Studland and you’re in a different world: heath, dunes and the white chalk stacks of Old Harry Rocks, with a ridge path on to the ruins of Corfe Castle and sea views both ways. Swanage has a sandy beach of its own. Wareham, with its riverside quay, is the way in by road, and Weymouth is a longer day out along the Dorset coast. The ferry went cashless in April 2026, and since 1 July drivers pay online by midnight the day after they cross.

Wimborne and the Stour valley

Wimborne Minster is a proper market town with a twin-towered church and riverside walks, and the National Trust’s Kingston Lacy estate is just outside town.

The New Forest

Across the border, ponies wander the lanes around Sway and Burley. If the dog’s coming, our dog-friendly New Forest guide has more ideas, and there are plenty more stays on our Hampshire hot tub cottages page.

Things to do in Bournemouth between hot tub soaks

Beaches, piers and the Oceanarium

Seven miles of sand run along the bay, broken up by pine-lined chines, zigzag paths and the piers at Bournemouth and Boscombe. Durley Chine and Fisherman’s Walk both won 2026 beach awards. Ride the PierZip back to the beach, the world’s first pier-to-shore zip line, then dry off at the Oceanarium.

Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum

Perched on the East Cliff, this seaside villa is packed with art and souvenirs and has some of the best sea views in town. It’s open Tuesday to Sunday plus bank holiday Mondays, 10am to 5pm, and an adult ticket is £12.50 with Gift Aid (russellcotes.com).

Hengistbury Head

Climb to the top for views across to the Isle of Wight. The land train down to the beach huts on Mudeford Spit runs from April to October, so in winter you’ll walk it.

Christmas in Bournemouth (12 November 2026 to 3 January 2027)

Winter’s a lovely time for a hot tub holiday, and Bournemouth puts on a show. The free Festive Trail lights up the Lower Gardens, with SKATE Bournemouth’s outdoor rink beside it and the Christmas Market in Bournemouth Square until 31 December. The Bournemouth International Centre’s indoor ice rink runs from 28 November to 21 February (bournemouth.co.uk).

Can you take your dog on Bournemouth beaches?

Yes, with seasonal rules. From 1 October to 30 April dogs can go on every beach. From 1 May to 30 September they’re not allowed on the Blue Flag and Seaside Award beaches, and they must be on a lead on the promenade, piers, zigzags and cliff paths. These signposted stretches stay open to dogs all summer (BCP Council):

  • Alum Chine beach office west to Branksome Chine
  • Middle Chine to Durley Chine
  • Fisherman’s Walk east to Southbourne
  • Hengistbury Head

Pick up after your dog everywhere, as fines run up to £1,000.

Cottages with hot tubs in Bournemouth: good to know

Lodges and cottages with a pool

The New Milton lodge above has a pool on its park. For one all to yourselves, see our New Forest cottage with a swimming pool guide.

Getting to Bournemouth by train

South Western Railway runs direct trains from London Waterloo, and the fastest take just under two hours. You’ll still want a car for most of these cottages, as they’re out in the countryside.

The best time for a Bournemouth hot tub break

Summer’s best for the beach. October to April is quieter, though, and dogs can go on every beach, while a soak on a cold, clear night is hard to beat. Wherever you stay, it’s a lovely way to spend a cottage break with a hot tub by the sea.
