Staying at The Carriage House, you can take day trips out and about to explore the whole of Northumberland’s many famous local attractions; the beaches, Alnwick and Bamburgh castles, The Alnwick Gardens, the wide open spaces of the stunning surrounding countryside, Cragside House, the National Park and Dark Skies and a variety of friendly seaside villages and come back to a lovely, welcoming cottage. Relax in the superb hot tub, take a walk around the owners' attractive garden, snooze in the hammock and eat dinner outside in the lovely, enclosed courtyard. The Carriage house is set next to the owners' house. It has 2 bedrooms; a king-size and a twin, both with full en-suite bathrooms and would suit a family, a couple or a group of friends. There is a large playing field, children’s park and tennis court in the village just a five minute walk from the cottage. Ulgham village is surrounded by quiet country lanes, ideal for walking and cycling. There is a river nearby with pleasant walks along the banks. In nearby Widdrington Station - on the way to Druridge bay, there is a pub, a Co-Op shop and a good fish and chip shop, plus a pub restaurant about 5 minutes further away. At Cresswell, The Drift Cafe overlooking the dunes serves great food and you also can buy excellent ice cream at the 5 star rated ice cream shop right on the beach front! Free guest Wi-Fi. Bed linen, towels, heating and hot water are included.

This former home of William Hardy, the famous fishing tackle manufacturer was built in 1892 in the style of a Scottish country house and has been lovingly preserved with antiques and luxurious furnishings to retain its opulent character while offering modern comforts for a truly memorable holiday. Walk into Alnwick for the magnificent Castle with Harry Potter connections, the renowned Alnwick Gardens, a wide range of restaurants, bars, independent shops, the market, and Europe’s largest second-hand bookstore and there are a golf club and tennis courts too. The sandy beach at Alnmouth is nearby, with its coastal golf course, as is Amble’s fishing port and Warkworth Castle. Drive to Cragside, the Armstrong estate in Rothbury and the breath-taking National Park. Access to the property is via the main entrance at the back of the property. Four stone steps lead to the front door of this impressive property and into a welcoming vestibule. Turn left into the main lounge with a collection of rich fabrics and sumptuous leather sofas to relax on. The open fire set in the original feature fireplace adds to the cosy ambience and you can watch your favourite films on Smart TV or simply enjoy a pre-dinner drink. The kitchen has a casual, country-house feel with a gas range-style hob and double electric oven, fridge/freezer, two microwaves and a dishwasher.
