The Farmhouse Reviews

We had such a wonderful time here. Just disappointed that wasnt told of the maintenance work going on. Around the patio area. The workmen were nice, but felt distant wasnt warned of this. Other than that it was great stay.

We had a problem with ants in the kitchen . The kettle was full of ants . We bought a new one and ant killer to clear problem apart from that the house wasnt as good a state as last year . Still enjoyed our stay
We found the farmhouse very comfortable and cozy. A perfect place to celebrate Christmas with family and friends. Being in its own grounds it was ideal for long walks and bike rides great to have the bicycles provided. Set in a private lane yet near to historical St. Osyth village amenities. Food takeaways accessible. A good all round stay anytime of year. The property matched the description provided and any queries we had were immediately dealt with.
Amazing farmhouse

Hi property fabulous, just wish kitchen had things like measuring jug ie Pyrex jug or even plastic would suffice also bowls for mixing things like tuna mayonnaise. All previous holidays with Sykes have had some teabags and coffee fresh bottle of milk and sometimes even salt and pepper. Nice touch leaving washing machine liquid.etc but the one small bottle of wine
The Farmhouse is set in lovely surroundings, although it would have been nice to know about the static caravans next to it. Also, the site office is attached to the house. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean and there were lots of clean towels, shower gel etc. Our main concern was the kitchen, which could only fit two adults at a time. It is not fit for 8 adults to use. The way it is configured meant that if one person was washing up no dishwasher, then no one could get to the dishes to dry them! There was plenty of cutlery and plates, but a better variety of glasses would be nice, even if kept in the empty cupboards in the loungedining room. Outside there was a table and chairs, but only for 6. The lounge had comfortable seating for 5, any more and dining chairs needed to be used.
This really was a lovely house with beautiful decor and a peaceful setting. The beds were very comfortable and bathroom facilities, excellent. The little thoughtful touches like wine and toiletries were much appreciated. The owner was friendly and we got to meet Wally! I think the caravans should be disclosed in the listing though, as some people would mind. They weren't occupied, so it wasn't a problem for us.

My family of 4 and our dog stayed her 14th Feb 28th Feb 2025. Upon arrival the key retrieval was simple and easy no problems at all. The gardener was there he was lovely and chatty. The farmhouse was spotless. Plenty of toiletries left neatly out and nice fresh folded towels. Beautiful decorated and clean. The beds were super comfortable. I was able to log in to my tv subscriptions via the smart tvs there. The farmhouse warmed uo very quickly and held it's heat well. The bath was heavenly to relax in. We did have have an issue with boiler whilst we were there. But the owner and his team resolved the issue as fast as possible and after this we had no more issues. Martin's extremely helpful and done his best with everything. Cooking facilities were good and washing machine was a bonus. My dog was allowed to run on the grounds he had the best time we walked down to the little woodland area. My family brought their fishing gear and spent time at the lake. Overall we had a fantastic stay very comfortable and welcoming.
The bedrooms, bedding and towels were excellent. Lots of toothpaste and toothbrushes However the kitchen is poorly equipped. We had to buy spoons, frying pan roasting trays and wine glasses. The saucepans available have been scratched and rusting. The washing machine has been left fully loaded with wet linen and towels. The insides of the cupboards was dirty covered with stains and crumbs. We had no cutlery on the first night of our arrival and no instructions have been left about the hidden draw compartment. When we telephoned the agency on Sunday night, there was no reply. We had telephoned back on Monday morning and once we have stated the issues, Kevin promised us he would contact the local team and update us. That did not happen at all. Just by the pure luck, one of the workers on the camp side told us about the hidden cutlery drawer but alas still no spoons. No washing up liquid and no basics. We had to buy tea towels , sponges, ect. The The property is lacking in basic kitchen utensils. Never book this property. Our stay has been spoiled by the lack of care and some genuine hospitality.
The kitchen was far too small to cater for 8 people. It also lacked in the basic essentials which included bottletin opener, sharp knives, dessert spoons, glasses for wine & cold drinks, baking trays, & serving plates. There were no place mats anywhere throughout the house suitable for hot food or drinks. The shower didn't work properly and the front door handle had rusted & was falling off. My grandson got locked in the toilet as the lock was faulty. There was no recycling. The beds and mattresses were comfortable and clean as was the rest of the house... Overall disappointing as I spent my Christmas eve rushing to the shops to buy the basic essentials that should have been provided in the house, & on Christmas day i was driving around Jaywick looking for sharp knife to buy so we could cut the meat!! The penknife I keep in my car for camping came in very handy...

Great place to stay, very comfortable, plenty of outdoor space. New to being rented out and everything was sparkling. Nice touches included toothbrushes, water bottles etc.
