The Bothy Reviews

Claire
A great house for our mixed group of couples, singles, children & dogs to celebrate New Year. The kitchen was well equipped and we loved the log burner and hot tub.
Nicholas
Excellent house, perfect for our large family gathering to celebrate special 2 birthdays. Well furnished and equipped. Plenty of room for 10 of us. Beautiful location. Views were spectacular. Enjoyed local walks, trip to Buxton, hot tub. Supermarket deliveries and Indian takeaway delivery possible despite remote location.
We had a great stay in November. As a group of friends who get together only twice a year we relish our time together and The Bothy provided the perfect setting for this. So clean, comfortable and well equipped. Beautiful walks straight from the door and lots to do in the area
Andrew
Beautiful property in an idyllic quiet, peaceful setting. Accommodation was ideal for us all as a large family and the hot tub made for an added bonus too.

Thank you for a great few days in the beautiful, comfortable huge Bothy! We had a reunion there with friends, and already missing the views, the space and all our laughs. Buxton nor far away, had delicious Sunday lunch in the old sun inn, highly recommend. Nearby walks were glorious and the weather superb, could not have wished for more!
Lovely stay, thank you. Accommodation had everything we needed for a weekend away.

Cottage was fine and well equipped. Late on I needed to ask you a question about bringing an extra dog. I couldn't find any way to contact a human at Sykes the owner had agreed unless I wanted a new booking that would have been easy. Eventually I raised a complaint and explained that I was bringing an extra dog. Nerer heard anything back from that either.. Not sure I would reccommend Sykes for communication!
A lovely property. Not overly fussy so one you felt you could relax in. Position stunning, facilities very comprehensive. Would return
All in all a fantastic break in a beautiful cottage and stunning surroundings
We all loved the property. Its extremely well equipped in the kitchen, the beds and bed linen are top quality and the whole property is clean and beautifully maintained. We really appreciated the welcome gift of wine and chocolates. The garden and hot tub are great amenities. The attention to fire safety was reassuring also.
What an amazing week we had, good family quality time. In a fab house. The grandkids and dogs also enjoyed the freedom of a safe garden. The week went way too quick ,we didnt want to go home. Thank you for everything.
A lovely, well equipped house in a beautiful setting. Local walks from the doorstep and a fabulous hot tub to relax in afterwards! Plenty of games, books, dvds for the grandchildren. An extremely enjoyable break. One of the better ones we've stayed in!
Lovely place to stay and very helpful team looking after the cottage highly recommend
This was our second visit to The Bothy and we were very happy with our time spent there. The area around is great and we were able to 'explore' on lovely walks. The hot tub is a nice addition although some of our group were not too bothered about it. Not really a downside some of the family found it a bit cold in the night but there are blankets and hot water bottles provided if needed. We would definitely visit again in future.
Fabulous house in an amazing location. Would recommend this house for families or large groups like we were.
Excellent property and well maintained. Route instructions would be much easier to follow if you mentioned that The Bothy is next door to the big house!!
The property was very well presented and had everything that we needed for our stay. We came as a large family group including adults, children and a dog. The property catered for all of our needs. My only suggestion would be to add a sign if possible where the 'triangle of grass' is in Wildboarclough directing you to the property. I drove past this several times before realising where I needed to go. Alternatively, there is a signpost at that point directing you to Macc Forrest. Maybe in the direction instructions, it could be included to follow that sign. Overall, we had a fantastic weekend and would definitely return.
We had an absolutely fabulous family gettogether at The Bothy, 11 adults, 1 child and 2 babies! It was spotless and wonderfully equipped throughout, with great rooms and enormous beds! They even supplied us with extra cots, highchairs and stairgates, which was extremely helpful thanks Audrey. The instructions provided were really helpful and clear, and the House keeper responded very quickly to a query we had about waterheating, which was very helpful and reassuring thanks Marie. The hot tub was fantastic and it became the surprise focal point of our stay. It was such fun!! We also played badminton on the lawn and climbed the local hillside for views as far away as Snowdonia! We would highly recommend The Bothy, it was quiet with beautiful surroundings and the accommodation had everything you might need for a great family holiday. Thank you so much, we just loved it and didn't want to leave!
An amazing holiday for all our family in this super property.
The property was extremely well equipped the only thing we needed because the weather was so hot, were parasols for the outside tables! ! Otherwise, we all agreed it was the best holiday cottage we had ever stayed in. The location was amazing and the hot tub the star attraction. It comfortably accommodated 12 plus 2 babies. We all thoroughly recommend this property.
I would highly recommend a stay at this property. Everything about our stay was ideal. One quibble maybe a heads up in the information pack about the total lack of phone signal?
Lovely, big, comfortable house with all amenities you could need. Great views from the house and plenty of walks. Hot tub an added bonus. Would have been helpful to have had more dishwasher tablets and a dishcloth.
It's a great place to visit and stay and we loved it so much we have already rebooked for next year
Weve stayed at the bothy a couple of times and have booked again for later in the year, its the best place to stay, comfortable and well equipped, also the surrounding area is beautiful to go out and about in.
The Bothy is a well appointed house, which suited our multi family stay well. Its in a good location with easy access to Macclesfield and Buxton and has many lovely walks within easy reach.
We stayed there three years ago so we knew what to expect when we returned. The property's resources were very much appreciated. Thank you!
Lovely comfortable house Wonderful views of the Peak district Great facilities ... Lovely comfortable house Wonderful views of the Peak district Great facilities Weather was not great but we still had a lovely time Chatsworth was really worth visiting
Oh My God what an Amazing property, it was set it beautiful countryside and was so clean and comfortable. All of us in our party could not fauly it at all, we were there to celebrate a 60th and 70th birthday and it really did NOT Disappoint. We will definately be back.
The Bothy was a fabulous place to stay, my whole family loved it, was a fantastic birthday treat, we did'nt want to leave, can't wait till we return again. Best holiday house we have stayed in,
This was the perfect house for our family birthday celebration. The house is beautifully furnished and has everything you need. Loads of space and a very relaxing place to be. The hot tub and gorgeous views from the garden make this house extra special. Would recommend to others and would love to return ourselves! Thank you for a wonderful weekend holiday home!
Fantastic property in a great location everything there to help you have a brilliant stay with you family to celebrate a special event. We will return but to stay longer next time, many thank.
The cottage was so very well equipped with so many extras we wouldn't even have thought about! Despite poor weather our stay was extremely comfortable in this lovely, spacious, warm house which was more than adequate for our three families to come together. Hot tub was of course an added bonus! Thank you too to the housekeeper who responded extremely quickly when we alerted her that the WiFi had gone down. By the time we came back from our outing it was back on! We would definitely recommend this cottage
This is the second time we have stayed here and it was perfect, its a great place for a big group it has everything you need and its so cosy in autumn. The views are absolutely amazing and there are so many places to visit nearby, we will definitely go again .
Great house, very well equipped with everything you need, good quality bedding, towels and furnishings. Nice and spacious and great surroundings. Hospitality basket a lovely added bonus. Would definitely recommend and visit again.
As a positive the Bothy is a beautiful home nestled in beautiful countryside, its very well equipped and has the most amazing views my only negative is an issue with the maintenance of the hot tub each morning around 8am, I can fully understand that maintenance and checks need to be done but on our 2nd morning at the Bothy the head housekeeper did the check and we were advised as due to a pair of swimming goggles being left by the hot tub I can assure you these were not actually used in the hot tub that she had the authority to not permit us to use it for the remainder of our stay, she then proceeded to test the water and subsequently placed a notice on the hot tub not to use until after 12pm due to chemicals being added to the water, which I can understand but it was the manner in which the message was relaid to us. To sum my experience up I personally loved the Bothy but I think a certain staff member spoilt our stay.
Lovely property to stay in, lots of nice touches in the property and would definitely stay again.
Great place to stay. Everything was just as expected.
Perfect property for all age groups. Superb location.
We had a lovely time and will be returning next year. Wonderful property and location.

Peak District National Park -
about 14 Miles
The Peak District National Park is the ideal place to relax and explore.  The stunning scenery will take your breath away and there is the opportunity to take part in ranger led guides and events.  These are ideal if you are new to the area or only staying a short time and want to see the best sights and walks.
Alton Towers - ST10 4DB
about 16 Miles
Of course you can't mention attractions in Staffordshire without featuring the fabulous Alton Towers theme park.  The rides range from thrilling to quite simply terrifying although there are more gentle family rides for the little ones.  All ages are catered for here.  Some of the most famoue rides include Th13teen, Air, The Blade and Nemesis.  There is also a waterpark on site for some splashtastic fun. Look out for seasonal events taking place throughout the year such as Wonderful Winter, Pirate Weekend and The Ultimate Fireworks Event.  Check out their website for the latest admission costs and save money by booking your tickets online.
Gullivers Kingdom - DE4 3NT
about 20 Miles
This is a top class theme park with plenty to do for the whole family.  From thrilling rides to more gentle activities for the little ones this place is ideal.  The best thing is that 50% of their attractions are under cover so the British weather needn't spoil the fun.
Heights of Abraham - DE4 3PT
about 20 Miles
This unique attraction combines an array of activities.  If you have a look on their website there are some good video clips which give an even better idea of what this attraction is all about.  Some of the highlights include the Cable Car system which is actually Britain's first alpine style cable car system.  You are transported from the valley floor right up above where you can enjoy superb Dewent Valley Views.  You can also stroll around 60 acres of wooded hillside on foot to see an array of birds and wildlife.
Gulliver's Kingdome - WA5 9YZ
about 20 Miles
Gulliver's Kingdome is a family friendly theme park offering many attractions for children of all ages. The site is rather unique and features a huge array of rides including log flumes, roller coasters and pirate ships. For the little ones there are rides such as the veteran cars and the balloon wheel and Diego and Dora the Explorer are on hand to make sure they are having a great time. Between the 21st and 31st of October the park becomes a spooky Halloween spectacular with a range of shows and fireworks to enjoy. Standard prices are £12.00 for adults and children over 90cm. Group booking discounts are available.
British Wildlife Rescue Centre - TN8 7AR
about 25 Miles
This is a really unique opportunity to see the fantastic work going on at this centre.  The purpose of the British Wildlife Rescue Centre is to treat and care for injured wildlife which cannot be released into the wild.  Many of the animals are brought to the centre by members of the public or the RSPCA.  Visit their website to see the picture gallery and to find out how to help if this is something which interests you.  There are also regular fundraising events such as the Sponsered Leg Wax.
Go Ape Cheshire - WA16 6RW
about 26 Miles
Out of all of the Go Ape! courses the one in Cheshire is the most spread out and it takes staff ten minutes to patrol the site on bike - which gives a good indication of the size of this place.  If you're looking for an adventurous and memorable day out then Go Ape is highly recommended.  Trek through the treetops, swing between the trees and enjoy zip wire rides all as part of your experience.  This attraction opens every day from the end of March to end October and is open on weekends in November.  Go Ape Cheshire is closed every Tuesday except school holidays.
Gulliver's World Theme Park - WA5 9YZ
about 27 Miles
This is a very popular theme park with three different locations.  The theme park in Warrington contains not only the theme park but also Gullivers Splash Zone and Gullivers Star Studios.  The Solash Zone is a fully heated indoor water play factory fun for all ages which will appeal on rainy days.  Throughout the year there are seasonal events too such as the Halloween and Fireworks event taking place from 23rd to 31st October.  You can book online to save time and secure your tickets during busy periods.  Over 50% of the rides are actually under cover so you don't need to worry about the British weather spoiling the fun.
Denby Visitor Centre - DE5 8NX
about 28 Miles
Denby visitor centre is a fun day out in the Derbyshire region with an array of activities iunder one roof.  An all weather attraction you can take pottery tours, see cookery demonstrations and visit Bourne's restaurant.  There are events and offers on throughout the year for example the Denby factory Shops sale where you can save £££s and October Creepy Crypt for Halloween where you can go along in fancy dress and have your face painted.  Booking is advised so check out the latest details on their website.
