Lydgate Cottage Reviews

Nicola
This is a really cosy, gorgeous cottage tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean. The welcome pack and communication from the owner was really appreciated and this included treats, a dog shower and space for our pooches too. Everything you could need was thought about and available, even to robes and slippers. The heating was excellent and the addionality of a log burner was lovely, but more as an additional luxury to use rather than as a necessity. We spent a fabulous weekend walking in the areas returning to this as our base with a wonderful hot tub to ease our muscles which was just heavenly. Really loved everything about it and would happily return.
Fantastic quiet location with great walks from the doorstep! Very quirky, bags of character and lovely to have the log burner and the hot tub. Cottage was very clean and well appointed with everything you could need. Would definitely recommend.
Wonderful place to stay, the attention to detail was amazing, and the thoughtful little touches made this cottage an absolutely perfect place to stay. I would recommend this cottage without hesitation

This is our third time of staying in the cottage and it just keeps getting better everytime! Everything is perfect especially with the beautiful fireplace and the christmas decor around the place, complementing the christmas season. No doubt well be back again next year.
Tristan
Perfect cottage for us, Lovely historic building but has all the mod cons and is beautifully presented, and very clean every little thing has been thought of. Very cosy and relaxing on a cold day once you have the wood burner roaring away. Location its perfect, turn left out of the cottage and a two min walk you have a great pub for food and two tea rooms , turn right and you are on your way to the famous boundary stone and in minutes walking in the glorious countryside. We didnt really have a need to touch the car apart from a short trip out to Chatsworth markets. One thing i haven't mentioned is the hot tub an amazing luxury after a long dog walk . Owner very friendly and we have taken advantage of Sykes black Friday offer and booked again ! Overall i dont think there is a more perfect place to stay, ticks all the boxes
Its our 3rd time staying at the cottage and will be booking again for next year . .so I think you can say that says it all !! Its a beautiful cottage with everything provided for with the added bonus of a hot tub in a beautiful village with a pub, tearoom, coffee shop and local shop all within a 2min walk whats not to like. Claire is so friendly and communicates with you very well. The cottage is very dog friendly and they are made to feel very welcome. Looking forward to returning again

The cottage is stunning. Spotlessly clean. Equipped with everything you could need and more. The location is perfect. Comfortable beds and the hot tub was loved by all 3 of us. Great communication from the owner. We will definitely be returning for another stay.
We had a fabulous time staying at Lydgate Cottage! We couldnt recommend it enough. As soon as we entered the property we felt cosy and safe. With great information packs about the house and the area, welcome treats, Prosecco and milk in the fridge, a dog bed, towels, bowls and treats. As well as all of that the communication from the owner was amazing and helpful, and to round it up the hot tub was amazing. I would stay here again in a heart beat. From, Lucy, Bridget and two paw friends Poppy and Miso
A lovely cosy and comfortable cottage in a beautiful location, with plenty of walks from the door and a great hot tub to relax in on your return! There was a welcome basket and bottle of Prosecco in the fridge which was very nice on arrival.
Natasha
We had a wonderful week in Lydgate cottage. It is beautifully decorated, exceptionally clean towels and bedding are really nice quality and still smelt fresh at the end of the week, super cosy with a lovely log burner and amazing private hot tub. The little seasonal additions to the cottage are very appreciated and Claire has thought of everything to make the stay 5 Eyam is a lovely village full of history and stunning local walks. Theres a great friendly pub within a 5 min walk offering good food at reasonable prices, and with an excellent local fish and chip shop and Indian offering dine in or take away. The village also has a cafe and a tea room which always seemed busy, although sadly we didnt have time to use these. I can highly recommend staying here as it is in a perfect location to explore the Peak District.
Gabriella
An absolutely beautiful cottage in a wonderful location. It has it all, and we would go back in a heartbeat.
Angela
Lydgate Cottage what a fantastic place to stay, so clean, very comfortable with beautiful walks all around, well thought off small additions in the cottage and of course the Hot Tub, even treats for the guests and the dog.
Loved the cottage, the history of the village. Will definitely come back. Thank you to Claire for being a great host. We will be booking again next year
Beautiful cottage in a lovely little village. Although small, the cottage has everything you could need and has the bonus of an amazing hot tub, which was excellent after a long day walking. Very well furnished with a comfortable bed. Lots of wonderful walks on thedoorstep, so rarely used the car. Local pub does great food and there are 2 tea shops in the village all dog friendly.
Absolutely lovely cottage, very clean and comfortable. Totally secure garden for our dog which is always important for us. The hot tub is great, especially after a long day walking in the hills. We would definitely stay here again.

My partner and I had a wonderful stay at this lovely cottage! The place was clean, cozy, and full of charm. The hosts left us a friendly and welcoming note and Easter treats. I highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing and refreshing break in the countryside. I would definitely come back again!
We had a wonderful week in Lydgate Cottage. Such a perfect little, cosy, home from home. There was a lovely Easter themed welcome basket waiting for us on arrival plus a bottle of fizz in the fridge. Our doggies also felt very well catered for with beds, bowls and even treats provided. The cottage is very well equipped and sofas and beds so comfy and inviting. Its in a perfect spot in a lovely village. Excellent walks right from the door step and the village has shops, a pub and a number of excellent tea rooms. We had such a great stay and very much hope to return.
Clean, comfortable, well equipped and well maintained property in a good location. Manoeuvring the car in and out of the driveway required care and judgement maybe the smaller the better when it comes to taking a car.
Perfect little cottage with everything needed. Exeptional!
The standard of the accommodation is exceptional, everything has been thought about and the attention to detail is second to none. Fantastic location and stunning walks on the doorstep. We even managed to park our Volkswagen transporter on the drive and close the gates. So perfect we booked our next stay before we had even left, cant wait to go back!
This cottage is stunning. Weve stayed in many across the Lake District, Peak District and Wales and this is amongst the very best. Eyam is a beautiful and peaceful little village and very well located with so many great walks on the doorstep or a short drive. The cottage itself is so well equipped, comfortable and the hot tub is amazing. A couple things I would say you need to consider not negatives but good to know we have a medium sized SUV and it did fit on the drive with the gates closed but if you have a large SUV andor are not such a confident driver you may struggle to park as it is quite tight! Part of the cottages charm is that it does have a few lower ceilingsdoorframes but if youre very tall that might be a challenge! Overall an easy 1010 for us and well be back
This is the most charming and idyllic cottage we have ever stayed in. Such a cosy place to relax with so many quirky features. Love that it is so dog friendly and very clean and well kept. It has everything you need from dressing gowns and toiletries to a dog wash for muddy paws. The hot tub is a bonus too! Eyam is such a pretty village with loads of history. There are so many beautiful walks in the surrounding area too, plenty to do. Weve already booked our third visit and will really look forward to returning. Thank you so very much for a wonderful stay!
The most beautiful and comfortable cottage. ..we didn't want to leave! Comfortable beds, very luxurious. Lovely bottle of fizz and treats on arrival too. The hot tub is the cherry on the top, after long days walking it was utter bliss! The location is wonderful, so much to see in the village, or within a short walk. 6 stars!!!!
Our stay was perfect. Cosy, clean and very comfortable which meant we could relax and unwind for the whole weekend. The kitchen and bathroom are equipped with everything you need, the towels are fluffy and the bed so comfortable wished that we could have stayed longer!
Louise
Beautiful well presented cottage. Very clean and comfortable, especially the bed. Well equipped for a weeks holiday. Following some long walks it was wonderful to relax in the hot tub. Lydgate cottage was in an idyllic village and central to some great sights in The Peak District. I would highly recommend this cottage and will be returning in the future.
Tristan
Thanks for a lovely stay! Beautiful cottage , which ticked every box for us. Quiet location, fully enclosed garden, hot tub and log burner ! Everything has been thought of to make your stay comfortable and the cottage has been decorated and fitted out to a very high standard and is spotlessly clean throughout. The welcome pack with prosecco was a really nice touch. Location wise perfect for us too a couple of minutes walk one way to Eyam village with its pubs and cafes, a couple of minutes walk the other way to the open countryside both of which contain plenty of history ! We will 100 be booking here again
Melissa
Beautiful cottage in a lovely location, very comfortable and the hot tub was a bonus! Everything very clean and well equipped. Excellent communication from the owner. Eyam is a lovely village, had some fantastic meals at the Miners Arms. The museum is definitely worth a visit too. Would definitely return!
2nd time staying at Lydgate and have already booked to go back Cottage is Beautiful and cozy, everything you need is there even the dog is thought of, very suitable for dogs as it has flagstone floors and a Secure garden Bed is very comfortable and the hot tub is a great addition The village is wonderful so much history to explore, the tearoom, coffee shops and pubs are all very good and the people are very friendly.
Amazing cottage, happy to stay here again! Ideal locations with some amazing walks and the hot tub after which was needed.
Can honestly say that this is one of the most beautiful cottages we have ever stayed in and definitely one of the most beautiful villages in Derbyshire with so much history. Dennis our Dachshund had the best time as we didnt need to get in the car to find the best walks, in fact, we didnt need to use the car at all. Hottub was an absolute bonus to what was already an amazing weekend. Cant wait to go back next year!!!
Lorraine
