The Farmhouse at Mill Farm Reviews

Yvonne
Mill Farm is the most beautifully maintained property we have stayed in! . We were a family of 6 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs celebrating my 60th birthday. The gardens are stunning and huge, play area loved by the children. So many stunning features inside that we kept walking around admiring it all. Hot tub used by all, snooker room was a big hit too. Bedrooms comfortable and relaxing to sleep in. Views were gorgeous. Communication with the owner was good. We didn't want to leave.
10 of us stayed for 2 nights with 2 dogs for a 21st birthday. It was amazing, plenty of room for us all to spread out, spotlessly clean throughout and everything you could possibly need. The gardens are large and well kept and the hot tub and snooker room just top it all off. We met the owner david who is a lovely man and extremely helpful. Would highly recommend

The Farm was absolutely wonderfulspacious, clean, and beautifully maintained. It offered a perfect blend of comfort and style, with wellequipped rooms and a relaxing atmosphere that made us feel at home right away. The amenities and hot tub made our stay truly enjoyable and memorable. It was a perfect place to relax with friends after a busy Christmas.

Went away for my partners 30th birthday and couldnt have wanted more. The property was stunning!! Snooker table kept people entertained for hours with the bonus of the hot tub. The garden was beautiful just a shame we didnt have the best weather. The bedrooms and bathrooms were good size and very clean. Lovely kitchen and big table to host breakfast in the morning. Lovely lounge area with the comfiest sofa, perfect area to play card or board games. Would definitely recommend to friends and family and would even book this property again
Loved mill farm as soon as we arrived. Long driveway and parking for several cars. Was kindly greeted and was shown around the property. We were a group of 6 adults & 3 children. The property was clean and a welcome pack was available. All utilities especially the AGA cooker was very impressive. The benefit to us was a large table which seated all 9 of us to which we all enjoyed eating together for a much needed family gathering. The hot tub was at the right temperature when we arrived and the gardens was lovely to have a walk around after breakfast. The grandchildren love the park. Would highly recommend this accommodation and Im sure we will be back in the future. The Ellis clan.
The Mill Farmhouse was the perfect venue for our family to meet to celebrate a 60th birthday 8 adults and 3 children. Very well equipped, extremely comfortable and immaculately clean. We had a problem with the boiler on arrival but Mandy and David went out of their way to get it sorted for us. We look forward to returning next year
A beautiful old property with everything you need ,was very clean could not fault hot tub and snooker table a real plus we all loved . A well equipped kitchen and comfortable lounges perfect position for walking with a pub to relax in after and enjoy a good meal a great Sunday lunch at the Swan . Also special touch with goodies on arrival thank you for a great relaxing week .
We booked Mill Farm The Farmhouse for some quality time with our family 10 adults plus a baby and two dogs. On arrival first impressions were of a beautiful red brick farmhouse set in extensive landscaped gardens, we were not disappointed, the online photographs of the rooms do not do this accommodation justice. The property, a converted mill with lots of beams and exposed woodwork was spotless. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of towels. The Aga was a real blessing, unlike other cottages we have stayed in it actually worked! The house was lovely and warm, with a very homely feel. The hottub and the fullsized snooker table were well used and appreciated. The kitchen was well equipped and all of the utensils were, yes, spotless. We appreciated the welcome we received and the lovely goodies basket too. If I were to make one suggestion it would be the addition of a large casserole pan, but it is difficult to improve on perfection. The gardens are extensive and really lovely and the area is quiet and peaceful this must be a great place to stay in the summer. I cant recommend this accommodation highly enough.
Very characterful property with all the facilities required for a short break by a party of 10. Everywhere very clean and well maintained and the kitchen very well stocked with tableware, cook ware, utensils etc. Outside play area was well used by the children and lots of gamesequipment provided to use in the beautifully kept garden .The games room and hot tub went down well with the adults. Host was very helpful and any issues raised were resolved very quickly. Would certainly recommend this as a venue.
Jonathan

Lovely quirky very well equipped house, spotlessly clean with something to suit everybody for a multi generational holiday, hot tub, snooker table, croquet equipment, lots of games, books and water pistols. . plus a zip wire and children play area. Huge beautiful garden with lots of outside eating areas and summer house for peace and quiet when needed. David the owner and Mandy who organised everything couldnt have be nicer or more friendly. We were very sad to leave.
Victoria
Brilliant property and location. Would highly recommend. SEN friendly in our opinion based on being a SEN family
A wonderful house and a fabulous garden we had the best 4 days just wish it could have been longer. There was everything we could have needed for 7 adults 1 baby and 1 dog the hot tub was well used and we even saw a deer in the garden. Dave the owner was a pleasure to chat to think he enjoyed the crumble we made with apples from his garden. Would definitely go back. Sue dawn and the gang xx
Fantastic property, great location, great facilities. Very private and well maintained. We had a great time and would certainly book again. The zip wire was well used! The ability to walk into the fields from the property was amazing and our dogs loved the space the garden offered.
Award Winning Farmhouse that sleeps 10, set in large garden grounds, perfect for large Family gatherings or group of friends. Plenty of easy parking. The owner David has thought of everything, from indooroutdoor games, snooker table and hot tub, what is there not to like. And Mill Farm has Donington Circuit and Alton Towers nearby.
We had a marvellous stay at Mill Farm last week with our three daughters and their partners and children. The size and layout of the house, particularly the ground floor, worked exceptionally well for the little ones, as did the beautiful extensive gardens and woodland. We used the hot tub, kept at a usable temperature throughout. Dave was a delight to talk to, and he and Mandy went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our time there. We enjoyed meals inside and out, there being a large table on the patio. We would certainly recommend Mill Farm to our friends. Finally, the fact that Mill Farm is on the very edge of Milton gives privacy, as well as allowing the children to make as much noise as they wish.
The sheltons july 2025 what an amazing stay we have had at mill farm the hosts ... The sheltons july 2025 what an amazing stay we have had at mill farm the hosts amanda and david are so lovely and very welcoming the welcome basket and prosecco was a very nice touch we all enjoyed the bar area with snooker room the hot tub the grandchildren loved the zipwire and playpark with a trampoline and also chilling in the summerhouse we will defo b returning thank you again amanda and david

Brilliant stay with friendly host on hand. Weve been staying as a multigenerational family in cottages for years and this has truly been the best garden weve experienced. Easy, quick walk to the local pub, but you also felt secluded away from any roads. We also were able to walk to local caves and resevoir, which was great. House was wellstocked with anything we needed.
Mukhtiar
This is a wonderful place with great facilities. The pictures really don't do it justice. The hosts are also very welcoming and helpful.
We had an amazing stay at Mill Farm. The house was large and comfortable and the large garden was amazing and well kept. Would definitely stay at this property again.
Rebecca
Lovely to have lots of different places to eat and relax. Beautiful gardens. There were no large saucepans which would have made catering difficult if we hadn't bought our own. But it was lovely to have a properly stocked kitchen and not have to buy scissors and a tin opener etc. The hotcross buns and bread was a nice touch too. No half broken things around the house and it was very clean when we arrived. Clearly they have a huge amount of attention to detail and it shows. The fan in the smaller bathroom didn't work not an issue as we opened the window, but they probably want to look into it. Some mattresses could use a refresh esp room next to bathroom was very indented which impacted sleep Drains need plunging especially outside in courtyard bit as was a bit pungent.
Mill Farm is even more beautiful than the photos! Perfect for special occasions, groups of friends or families. We had an amazing stay. David host was so friendly and helpful. Milton and Repton are both lovely villages with great pubs. I've already recommended it to several people and would love to come back again at some point!
Louise
Great place. Plenty of room for everyone. Huge garden for the dog. Zip wire trampoline seings were great.
This is the second year we have spent at the cottage. We came back again as we enjoyed it so much the first time. This is a lovely house with everything you need. Both Dave and Mandy are very nice, friendly and eager to make your stay perfect.
We had a wonderful stay at mill farm. The property was even better than expected. We stayed for a family birthday and all three generations of us loved it. The zip wire was a massive hit with the grandkids. I honestly can't recommend it enough. Dave and Mandy at the property were great and we would love to return.
What a lovely welcoming house. Perfect for a family gathering with young children. Lots to do around the house, beautiful garden and very adaptable space. Great local pub too.
Tivo box in dining roomlounge may need updating wouldn't work with Netflix

Our family felt it was home from home. A very warm welcome. We couldn't have been more pleased, The gardens were beautiful.
The Farmhouse, Mill Farm, was a perfect place to stay for our family preChristmas get together. It was spacious, comfortable, well equipped and beautifully decorated,. We were made to feel most welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Alexandra
This was our 3rd year with you, already booked for a whole week next year. We are 9 mature ladies, we cannot fault the cleanliness every time for this huge house. Our only wish would be for a cover over the hot tub, as we live to go in it regardless of the weather. That would make hot tubbing in the rain a much more pleasurable experience
Claire
Beautiful property in lovely large grounds. The photos really dont do the outside space justice
Claire
We had a wonderful family celebration long weekend at Mill Farm. The whole property was perfect, spacious and very well equipped. It was spotlessly clean and maintained to a high standard. David and Mandy were so kind and welcoming, as well as helpful when we needed it. I cannot recommend it highly enough. We would have given it 11 out of 10 if we could!
A beautiful property in amazing grounds. I would definitely stay again.
Robert
Excellent property. Clean and well maintained with games room and hot tub in very spacious grounds with even more leisure facilities. Zip wire, trampoline, croquet and badminton for the young and active visitors. Accommodation is very spacious and comfortable with super kitchen and dining facilities.
Absolutely amazing property the pictures and description dont do it justice. We were 3 families of 3 generations and the facilities were excellent and suited all. The snooker table was a big hit as was the hot tub. The garden was simply stunning. Lovely welcome gift on arrival and friendly host. Would highly recommend.
This is our second visit and once again we had a wonderful time and enjoyed very much staying there. David and Mandy were so helpful and made us very welcome as they did last year.
From the moment we arrived and met David and Mandy we were made to feel very welcome. We were very grateful for the lovely welcome pack they left for us. The house and gardens were beautiful, the grandkids loved the freedom of the gardens. We had a great week there celebrating a 65t birthday.
Sandra
We hired the accomodation for guests and bridesmaids for a family wedding and it was perfect. The guests were shown all the facilities when they arrived and were made to feel very welcome. We definitely would recommend this property for others.
The setting was lovely and the house comfortable enough but there were a few things that let it down badly but could easily be rectified. 1. The beds were not the size described which made for a not so comfortable stay for some, the king size bed listed is not King size and the one in the third bedroom on the first floor by the bathroom is not a standard double but a small double which is not big enough for 2 adults and the mattress is shocking! 2. The shower room has a shower that floods 3. The grounds are not secure as you would expect for somewhere that is dog friendly. 4. There was horrible rubbish on the lawn which was not only dangerous to our dog but to the abundant wildlife there. The first day the dog picked up a large lump of plastic which was obviously part of a meat packaging and this was in the middle of the lawn near the hot tub and I was lucky to have seen her do it and been able to prize it from her mouth or we would without a doubt have ended up in the vets with a very sick animal and huge bill. When I followed the dog I found the source a large bonfire site at one end of the garden by the pond, strewn with half burned nappies, bread products, bones, plastic meat and fish containers, veg, black bin bags etc etc, it was disgusting and a health hazard for animals and small children and quite shocking in such a beautiful setting. We filled 2 large bags of the detritus in order to keep my dog, other animals and children safe not something you would expect to find anywhere. There was also another black sack full of rubbish left all weekend by one of the entry gates which a wild animal has obviously attacked, can't understand it! 5, There wasn't an adequate number of plates for 10 people and serving dishes, knives were blunt and one of the ovens didn't work. That said there were lovely scones and a few basics left to start you off and basic household items left for arrival which was a great touch and made life so much easier. Lovely setting and house, just needs a few tweaks and finishing touches and it would live up to the blurb and photos.
We had a wonderful time at Daves place. The garden was so beautiful and the house was very comfortable. We felt so welcome by Dave & the lady who managed the property. Wouldnt hesitate to recommend for a holiday and we hope to return one day.
