The Farmhouse Reviews

Great location for multi generation family occupancy. Alas the items requested for toddler were not in situ, but we found a helpful memeber of staff who supplied 2 of the 3 items. Due to weather and fallen bushes the route to the front door was challenging! Plenty of space in the dining kitchen, we would have liked washing up scrubbers brushes to leave the pans ready for the next occupants. We were not made aware of the leak in the kitchen ceiling, until we found a puddle of water on the floor, but it didnt rain too heavilly for the next few days so we managed. For future guests, bring your own shower bath products, kitchen roll , cling film and greaseproof paper. A suggestion for safety improvements, grab handles in the showers and increased lighting in the hallways.People with dogs, a reminder to clean up no matter if you are a memeber of staff or visitor, as children play on outdoor spaces.

We had a good time at the Farmhouse, only downfall was the kitchen roof leaking on the last days, I did callemail but had no response. We were unable to use the kitchen one day as the rain did not stop and we had to put pots and pans to catch the water! The pool and games room were great, and lots of outdoor space to walk you dogs.
The farmhouse was lovely , very comfortable and clean . The field at the back of the farmhouse was great for the children to play in .They really enjoyed the pool and games room. We kept the dogs on long leads in the garden as it isnt enclosed which worked well . We had requested a stair gate as we had a toddler with us , one wasnt available but didnt find this out until we had arrived at the property. The width of the stairs wasnt standard so there wasnt one the landing is very narrow so it would have been safer for children to have one. Overall we had a lovely family get together weekend . .

This is a great property for a large family gathering, in a quiet rural setting just 3 miles from Bakewell. Beautiful Lathkill Dale is a short walk away, and highlights of the district such as Chatsworth and Haddon Hall are a short drive away. Well worth a visit is the nearby Magpie Mine. Although the property details state private parking for 2 cars, which might be a limiting factor for a large party, we easily parked 3 cars.

Wow what an amazing house! 10 people but plenty of room for everyone. Incredibly comfortable furniture and true home feeling. The pool is just the icing on the cake Wonderful thank you!
Claire
Lovely setting and all facilities within the property were as seen on the website. A welcome gift was waiting for us which was much appreciated. Great base for exploring the local area with walks close by.
Amanda
Lovely location for dog walks, visits to local attractions. Field at rear of property fabulous for dogs on stretch leads. Games room provided fun and swimming pool great. Took us a few days to find recycling bins so a small map recommended. Family enjoyed our holiday in this beautiful area.

We had a lovely stay at The Farmhouse. Great location & setup for a large group. Large table to sit at with plenty of cutlery etc. Two dishwashers came in very handy. The beds are comfortable with clean, crisp white bedding , with fresh white towels for every guest. The use of the swimming pool is an amazing bonus with the games room. Our children used it most days. Lovely big field for the dogs to use at the back with amazing views.

We had a lovely stay and overall this is a great property. It is in a lovely location and there is a lot to do in the area. The kitchen is especially wellequipped for a larger group, the lounge is very comfortable and spacious, the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms wellappointed. Issues such as a failure in the wifi were dealt with quickly by the very nice onsite caretaker. However, our request for a cot, high chair and stairgate were not passed on though we could collect them on site and there were minor niggles had to ask for bulbs for 2 lamps which had none, and the stairgates were not fit for purpose on the stairs we had. The onsite children's play area was very run down. But the playroom, although too hot, was great for older children and adults, and the pool was a big hit with everyone. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Amazing property that suited 10 adults and 1 grandchild. We gad a superb stay and was sad to leave. The surrounding views are beautiful. The Farmhouse was really clean and there was everything you needed to cater for 11 of us. We all managed to sit around the large table for mexican night and a full Sunday roast the next day. Looking at booking every year now
We thought the cottage was cozy but could do with updating, handles came off the chest of drawers in downstairs bedroom and the shower leaked from the pipe work in the cupboard down the wall in the downstairs ensuite. It would also greatly assist if pan scourers were provided as we cooked in for the three nights of our stay plus kitchen surface cleaner. The kitchen was well equipped though and we did enjoy our stay, we had no idea where bins and recycling bins were located.
Fantastic place for 9 of us Gramma and two families plus two dogs to spend Christmas. The facilities were great loved the big kitchen and the kids ranging in age from 716 thoroughly enjoyed the swimming pool and the games room. The various hikes in and around the cottage suited both people and dogs . Best of all we had sun fir the whole 7 days !

Positives Beautiful farmhouse with spacious rooms, fully equipped with everything you need Lots of outdoor space and very quiet surroundings Swimming pool and games room a lovely touch Negatives Shower in the changing room next to swimming pool was cold did not warm up, no first aid kit in kitchen where the manual stated it was.

We had a wonderful stay at The Farmhouse for a family member's 30th in September. The cottage was lovely comfortable, big enough for 10 afults and spotless. The swimming pool was a great bonus too!
We booked The Farmhouse for a family birthday weekend and it did not disappoint! We were 3 family groups ranging from 273 years and everyone had a fantastic time. The Farmhouse was well equipped with everything you could need including extras such as dish cloths, tea towels, washing up liquid and hand wash in the bathrooms that some places do not bother to provide. The facilities such as the pool and games room and the outdoor spaces were excellent and the location was ideal for a rural stay with all the beauty of the Peak District on the doorstep. The Farmhouse is a characterful old building with some steps between rooms and care should be taken accordingly. We would certainly like to stay here again.
Parts of this holiday are excellent. It is a lovely house with shared swimming pool etc. Ideal for a large family with dogs. Bathrooms and kitchen are good and clean. Located in the picturesque hills. It is let down by a number of items. The dirrections take you to the wrong place, a 40 minute find in daylight. The postcode is for a similar named property that has actually invested in a sign to redirect guests etc. There is no PRIVATE garden. There are 2 dishwashers, nice for 10, but no washing machine except a shared facility requiring cash.
Lovely house set in a pretty, welldesigned complex of holiday cottages with the amazing advantage of a shared swimming pool and games room with pool and table tennis. The area is beautiful with walks from the house. The house on the whole is comfortable with very good beds and a really lovely, wellequipped kitchen. However, it was not very clean cobwebs, dirty socks and tissues under the beds and a lot of the furniture is very tired chest of drawers in downstairs bedroom is totally unusable. I am disabled so the downstairs bedroom is great, and it was lovely to have a shower stool provided, but please could you fit a grabhandle in the shower.
10 members of our family stayed at the Farmhouse and had a lovely time there. The listing states the pool is 1 mile away, imagine our delight finding it 100yds away onsite. The Farmhouse was packed with character and ten people were easily accommodated for. The little extras made all the difference, dishwasher tablets, dish cloths, tea towels, coffee pods, sugar, things you may not pack. Our only complaint was the rust in the microwave which is now flaking into items being heated, for the price of a microwave it simply needs replacing.
Joanne
The bed configuration is not as stated in the advertised property there are only 3 doubles not 4 as stated so disappointed as there were 4 couples . The house its self was lovely and spacious and in an ideal location had a fabulous time with my family and the swimming pool was an added bonus as the weather was a bit hit and miss .
Elaine
A bit rough around the edges. Bedrooms are not as described on the website. The bedding, towels and bathrooms were clean but the house as a whole was dusty, cobwebby and in need of a deep clean. Bedroom furniture needs updating, old musty smelling wardrobes, didn't hang any clothes up. The ovens were not clean, tin foil to cover up did not work. Microwave had exposed rust, unsafe and should be changed. Fridge small for a house sleeping ten, no door shelves. The complex is nice, we enjoyed the pool and games room, but again all looking a bit tired and needs a good clean and update, roof windows were leaking. Good location for a group getaway.
Kendall
The address on the website does not take you to the house. the listings for the bedrooms are incorrect. The website states two super kingsize rooms, 2 kingsize and a twin. However there are 2 twin rooms and only one super kingsize. It was tricky to figure out the heating the upstairs room to the left with the ensuite was really hot through the night I was worried about my baby over heating. We turned all the radiators off and had the window open and was still too warm we couldnt figure out why as the other rooms upstairs seemed a lot cooler. Other than the warm room our stay was lovely and we would definitely recommend.
Lovely for a joint 1st and 30th birthday celebration. The house is really cosy and we enjoyed lots of games round the kitchen table. The pool was lovely and warm. Only negative feedback is that the bedrooms arent listed accurately there were two twin rooms when we arrived.
Had a fantastic few days at the Farmhouse. We walked in through the front door and were blown away by the beautiful Christmas decorations and stunning property. The house was warm and cosy and the kitchen had everything you could possibly need . We had bad weather but the swimming pool and games room meant that we were kept entertained. Our 2 dogs loved the field behind the property .We will certainly visit again . Mark the maintenance guy was really friendly we had no maintenance issues with the house but he was chatty and very helpful.
