Had an absolutely brilliant weekend. Can't recommend this house enough. Can't think of anything negative about anything. 2 Families having an early Christmas celebration, house was decorated for us. Hot tub was great stayed nice and hot even when the outside temp was 5! Host was very attentive but not in your face, there if you needed anything. 5 Star
Danielle
We had such an amazing stay in this beautiful house. The hot tub was huge and a real plus, the location was idyllic! Cant fault anything and we will be booking again in the future, thank you!

Lovely big spacious cottage lots of space it's our 2nd time here we were the 2nd family to stay when it was built in may 2021 then again this year in October 2023 would certainly recommend it we all had a great four chilled days here from monday 30th October till friday 3rd November there were a family of 6 of us myself my partner my daughter , son in law , 2 grandchildren and their 2 dogs hot tub was great very spacious too .
We loved this place. We celebrated our mother 70th birthday at the property. Was nice to have your own ensuite and a downstairs toilet. The large longue area was prefect for a group of 10 people which included children.we stayed within the area, as it had lovely walks and a nice local pub to go to after. If we can we are hoping to re book next year.
Our family had a great stay in this beautiful, well equipped, modern and comfortable, pristine house. The rooms were all very spacious and our grandchildren loved playing in the beautiful garden, while we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. The little village of Tudhoe is lovely and very peaceful with many lovely walks and we were so close to Durham with all the amenities it has to offer,

The house generally was excellent and I'd recommend it to anyone based on the bedrooms, bathrooms and the wider living area. Huge space, well maintained, extremely comfortable. The garden was properly enclosed for the dogs. Couldn't fault the core offering. The gripes are trivial and fixable more big pans, please, a bit more cleaning of the hot tub before guests arrive, and maybe relook at the angles of the security cameras to take them off guest areas and onto access points.
Lovely big house and garden. We were a family of adults and kids celebrating a 70th bday party. Owner kindly gave us permission to have other family guests mainly kids and elderly over for an afternoon to celebrate a bday bbq and hire a bouncy castle. Extremely concerned that the owner had multiple cameras on the outside of the property. Three of these were pointing at the outdoor area and hot tub. This was not disclosed in the booking. We had children getting in and out of the hot tub and feel this is very inappropriate to have cctv on them. The owner visited daily to clean the hot tub and made several comments how dirty it was dont know what he expected when this was placed on the grass. He made lots of negative comments regarding previous guests. In reality we think he was checking up on us which felt very invasive.
Lynsey
The house is very spacious, so was perfect for us and we were 2 families of 4. The views were amazing and the garden with the hot tub and a bonus. Quiet location, but great for exploring the rest of the county durham.

A beautiful house and large private garden with spectacular views and hot tub was maintained by owner every day so it was a perfect place to stay Having toilet and a twin room downstairs was ideal for elderly relative. The 4 rooms upstairs were spacious and bedding clean The settees were comfy and accommodated all our group and the chairs and loungers outside were ideal to relax there is a pub within walking distance and a few miles up road was an alDi to get any supplies. This accommodation is a great find and lives upto the pictures and info that is advertised
Antony
This is a wonderful property in a lovely rural location, the owner is extremely helpful and we had a very nice holiday
Michael
A modern and well maintained house in a quiet location with many local walks on the doorstep, but within 150 metres of a pub with good food. Owner visited us every day and was very helpful. There are numerous places to visit within 1 hour drive.
Angela
Fabulous property with everything you need and very friendly and approachable owner
House was lovely and the view was superb. Hot tub huge! Owner Mark was very helpful and on hand close by. Rooms were furnished to a high standard and very comfortable. The area surrounding the house is just lovely. We didn't leave the property for the 2 days we were there because the weather was brilliant and we were enjoying the hot tub and views too much! If the house had a larger fridge freezer or a second one in the utility, that would be a bonus as we did struggle to get all the excess amounts of food and drink that we bought into the single fridge freezer. We have already reccomended the house to others and would definitely return.
A fantastic property in a peaceful location. The house was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. It is very spacious and a great layout for all ages in the family. The hot tub and scenery was perfect and a brilliant enclosed garden. Would definitely recommend the local pub just a couple of minutes walk, we had a lovely Sunday lunch there. We will definitely return again in the future.
Christine
Property did not disappoint. Only negative point is there wasnt enough comfortable seating for the 10 of us females to sit down together. Perhaps replacing the old bean bags, one of which kept losing its filling, with 2 small armchairs. However the hot tub was a big hit and owner very accommodating when we had a problem with it. We would go back again. Tudhoe is a pretty little village
Absolutely loved our stay at Stackyard House and would definitely stay here again. Everything was furnished to a really high standard and the open plan downstairs was perfect for socialising as a group. Not to mention the views from the back of the house, it was quick to forget there were even other houses around. There is plenty of parking with use of overflow out towards the back of the house. The owner was really nice and was there if we ever needed anything. Again, I can't recommend this enough, far enough away from town to feel secluded yet close enough that any shops you need are only a couple of minutes drive away.
Hannah
Had such a great weekend here and would not hesitate to book again! This was for a weekend with my sister's family and it was perfect. It's a beautiful home with a great garden and walks from the property too this was great for the kids and dogs. The kitchen is very well stocked and there was plenty of room for us all is the living space. The bedrooms are very cosy and there are several bathrooms too! Would highly recommend thank you!
Deborah
Had a wonderful weekend stay, getting family together to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday. The property is absolutely beautiful, well equipped and very private with beautiful surroundings. Hot tub is a lovely touch. The owners are lovely, great communication and very welcoming. A lovely little pub not two minutes walk away serving food if you want it. Would definitely recommend Stackyard House and will definitely be returning at some point, ten out of ten.
Andrea
Beautiful, spacious, just perfect. This property had everything we needed for a family weekend away. The wonderful spacious living area with stunning views, was perfect for us all to spend time together. We also enjoyed exploring the local area on dog walks and visiting the village pub. Host to this property was extremely helpful and on hand if we needed anything. Only improvement we could recommend would be larger pans for cooking as a family of 10 we struggled a little bit, but this would not put us off returning to this amazing property.
Had a really enjoyable stay in this beautiful cottage over the New Year. We were a family of nine and the cottage was very spacious and comfortable. It was very clean and had all the amenities you could wish for and in an ideal location for exploring the surrounding area. The welcome gifts were very much appreciated. We would certainly recommend a stay here and will be definitely visiting some time again in the future
All I can say is. .. AMAZING!!! We stayed here over Xmas, there was 10 of us and 2 dogs. The place was beautiful, lovely and clean. Very big. The hot tub was just lush and was cleaned daily. There was Xmas decorations and a tree which was lovely. Everything you need is on hand. I can't recommend this place enough and I will certainly be returning.. The only criticism is there isn't any cleaning products so we bought what we needed, but an oven cleaner or bench spray would of been helpful so take a spray as we liked to clean up as we go. I mean its a minor thing really. Can't fault the place. All the rooms are spacious and the views are beautiful. I wish it was my home. Thank you so much for everything.
Christine
Great Stay! great little village too with nice pubs and 30mins walk into Spennymoor or even bus to Durham for the day. Feels very remote though and private. House was very nice loved the under floor heating. Only marked down a little because there were only stick kindling no logs for the fire so didn't last long and no way of cleaning the ash left previously. Hot tub great but would have been nice to have some robesflip flops. I brought mine as know its a good idea with hot tub. Hot tub was clean and Owner Mark came to check on chemical levels etc. He was very friendly. A guest book would be good for any recommendations etc, and maybe some board games? Check out could do with being an hour later... everything had to be cleaned and put back, which is fair enough, however I didn't put dish washer on correctly over night so pots etc left in working dishwasher.
The property is in an ideal location to visit Durham, Spennymore and Bishop Auckland. There are lots of castles and museums in the area. The area around Tudhoe Village is beautiful and there are plentiful walks of varying lengths. The nearest supermarket is about a 5 minute drive. The views from Stackyard House are superb. The garden is extremely spacious with a fantastic hot tub which seats six. The pub in the village is a 3 minute walk from the house and serves excellent food. The hosts are the friendliest and most helpful hosts we have dealt with previously. The house itself is very spacious , clean with every facility you could wish for.
Christine
Absolutely fabulous house and a great host. Coffee, tea and basic foodstuffs in the house very much appreciated, as was the wine and chocolates waiting for us on arrival. No reports of anything suboptimal apart from mirror light in ground floor bathroom not working, which made things a little gloomy there. Perhaps a mirror on the back of the door in the bedroom would have been useful. Overall, a wonderful week.
Fabulous property in a wonderful location
Excellent property and a very friendly and approachable owner.
Brilliant week in a lovely house. The spa was amazing, lovingly attended too every morning by Mark. I mentioned a couple of things we thought might enhance future guests, and Mark took them onboard. Nothing detracted from a relaxing, calming stay in a beautiful house in a lovely village. Thanks
Jennifer
The property was well maintained & of a high standard. The hot tub was a great attraction. On the whole the facilities provided were good. A better frying pan would have been appreciated. The area to the rear of the house was open countryside & there was plenty of room for both dogs & children to play & go for walks.
Richard
An amazing property. The place was immaculate and Mark couldn't be any more helpful. We would recommend this place to anybody! Thanks again and we will definitely be booking up in the future.
Beautiful property with magnificent views and local walks
Great house for a holiday, very clean and well presented. Garden and hot tub fabulous, attentive and friendly owners
What an amazing house! We had a lovely family stay at Stackyard House. The property was clean, modern and in the perfect location for lots of dog walks. The village is lovely and quiet, with a nice pub down the road. The owner was excellent, definitely takes pride in the upkeep of the house and ensuring his guests have everything they need. The hot tub was great and extremely well maintained. The welcome gifts were a lovely touch, thank you! We will definitely be returning
Natalie
We had an amazing week. The house was just perfect, the hot tub wonderful and situated so well with beautiful views. Great place to explore Durham and a trip to King Edwards bay in North Shields was well worth it. Will definitely be back.
Kathryn
Absolutely perfect accommodation, beautiful views, lovely walks. Great food at the local pub only a couple of minutes away.
Victoria
My friends and I had a lovely break at Stackyard house. The house is beautiful and lies in a lovely village with a great local pub. The house is well equipped and the owner was lovely. Would stay again.
Joanne

Go Ape Northumberland - NE48 1NT
about 26 Miles
Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.
Big Sheep - EX39 5AP
about 29 Miles
This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire.  Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour.  You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals.  Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
