The Chalet Reviews

Beautiful bungalow, right by a 7rocky beach, which sadly isn't suitable for walking on. There is access to the sea further along the shore line, where a small sandy beach is located. We didn't see anyone in the sea swimming. Amazing views over the sea. Beautiful sunsets from the front patio. Accommodation, open plan, very comfortable, very large settee, easily fits two. Comfy king size bed. Bathroom has fabulously powerful shower.. We didn't use the jacuzzi, so can't comment.. Exceptionally quiet location, additionally very friendly neighbours. However, as others have mentioned road to the accommodation is better suited to a four by four vehicle, its a step track not a road. Sadly this would deter us from booking again.
Excellent stay, from beginning to the end of our 2 week holiday, the owner was super friendly and very helpful with anything that we needed. The Chalet was lovely and comfortable and the hot tub was great for relaxing whilst having glass of wine. The Prosecco and chocolates were a great touch and a nice start to the holiday. The weather was absolutely superb for the time of year which obviously helped make the stay even more enjoyable. The only small constructive criticism I have is that the garden could do with a bit of a clean and tidy up. If we return to the same area would certainly look at staying at the Chalet again.

This cottage is set in a beautiful peaceful setting by the sea. It is adequately equiped. Very comfortable. We were a little concerned that some of the cooking bits needed to be washed before using them. Also the fridge was a bit grubby. Everything else was fine. The neighbours were very friendly and spoke to us when we saw them. There was adequate logs if required and the cottage was loverly and warm. The main concern was we felt the information on the property did not identify that the stepped front garden could be difficult. Being of a older age with reduced mobility I found getting to and from the property difficult and often needed to be helped by my friend .
Myself and the wife are extremely happy with our stay. Everything was perfect. What a fantastic the prosecco and chocolates. With have recommend to all our family and friends. A big thank you very much. Kind Regards Shawn & Angela from StokeonTrent

We had a lovely short break at The Chalet. It was nice to arrive to a welcome gift. The fire was made up and plenty of wood to use.. thank you. The microwave plate didn't turn so couldn't use it, and the toilet was a little wobbly! That said the hot tub was great and the views were amazing. We nearly didn't chose this stay due to other reviews regarding the road. It would be good to see if all the occupants could club together to maintain the access road. It is a tight bend with lots of pot holes, but it's not impossible to navigate. If people are wanting a peaceful, comfortable stay right on the cobbled beach, then this is the place. We loved sitting in the front room, simply watching the sea crashing and relaxing in the warmth. Wonderful.
We enjoyed the stay at the Chalet thoroughly. A really relaxing break in a great setting. Would recommend it to anyone who wishes to de stress.
Great cottage so close to the sea with everything home from home cant wait to go back
Had a lovely time, everything as described, views great. Some things beyond the owners control like the rough access roadtrack steep and driver needs extreme caution. Nevertheless a nice quite place, and the hot tub was great.
Loved staying at The Chalet very relaxing & the views where spectacular especially in the morning having a cuppa looking out into the sea. Welcoming pack was a lovely touch & the local people are very friendly was nice to meet the owner who popped in to make sure everything was ok. Look forward to returning

We absolutely loved our stay at The Chalet. Perfect location and accommodation. We loved the peace and quiet, views and hot tub. Our little boy also loved seeing the trains so close by. The welcome bundle was a lovely gesture. Already recommended The Chalet to family and friends!

What an amazing place! Location, facilities, cleanliness and overal, its definitely a wow! Tried to book for later this month, but its pretty much fully booked so i guess i was lucky to get this booking in at the last minute! Will definitely keep it on my radar to go back too thats for sure. Ps the couch is so comfy i fell asleep there every night listening to the waves, so i didnt even use a bed in all my time. Haha Thank you!
Loved it, We want to experience it again in the summer 1010
Me & my family had a lovely holiday at The Chalet. Our autistic son loved the views, beach and ofcourse the hot tub. Its in a perfect location if you want a relaxing getaway.
Jacqueline
Property was lovely fabulous views, everything provided that you could need. Directions were comprehensive and easy to follow, however, the lane down to the property is unadopted and challenging. The hot tub as perfect and our autistic grandson loved it, however he struggled with intermittent WiFi.
Michael
Good out of the way location. Clean, tidy with a lovely view. Some noise from next door with chainsaw, drilling and hammering. The access road to the property is awful.
Andrew
We had a wonderful holiday. The Chalet was immaculate and anything you could possible need was there in fact it is the best we have stayed in and thoroughly recommend . The weather did not stop us enjoying ourselves ..The cathedral caves and castlerigg stone circle are worth a visit .
Nicola
Stunning location with breathtaking views. Beautiful property. The road is as described in the information, not for the feint hearted but then if it was a perfect road, it wouldnt be a perfect place as it would be flowing with visitors which would totally spoil it. We absolutely loved everyting about the chalet and would highly recommend it. We were blessed with the most beautiful weather and we watched the most stunning sunsets for a week. We did not put the tv on once! Why would you with views like that! Hot tub was thoroughly enjoyable
What a beautiful cottage in a beautiful place ! ! It is very well equipped and is comfortable . Vicky was lovely and helped us with where to go and the welcome package was a lovely touch cant wait to go back !! Thank you
Sheila
Chalet was absolutely beautiful and equipped with everything anyone would need. It was very comfortable and spotless. Lovely garden to relax in out back. Our only down side to our break was the single track bumpy road down to chalet which put us off going out and about incase car got damaged but this is no fault of the owner. I would give chalet marks 10 out of 10.

Absolutely worth the money , fantastic place ! , say no more
I booked this cottage as a surprise 70th birthday present for my partner Wendy. She knew we were going away but not the destination. All she knew is that there was a hot tub. To say she was pleased is an under statement. A lovely comfy, cosy cottage with fabulous views. Despite the weather we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your cottage. My big one next year so hopefully we will be back. Thankyou. Ian & Wendy. Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.
Beautiful Chalet , and location Will be back Thanks to Vicky for all her help x
An amazing place to stay!
We booked this as an AnniversaryValentines get away and it didn't fail to deliver a relaxing break in an exceptional property with all the comforts of home plus a hot tub, with a view which I can only describe as 'to die for' and the welcome basket was a lovely surprise such a nice touch. Vicky the owner was very helpful and was contactable if needed. We will return. Ann & Trevor Staden, Staffordshire

Very nice place to stay. Very comfortable. We would have liked to have a chair at the table for every member of our party we were 3, only 2 chairs, so family meals had to have someone standing. Please mention there are no extra towels for the hot tub. We would have brought some with us.

We had a lovely time staying at the chalet the sea air was bracing but left us both feeling good after our walks we only had one small issue we could not get the heating to work so were reliant on the wood burner and small oil heater for warmth but that did not detract from us enjoying our stay when it got cold we put an extra layer on and cuddled up on the couch Thank you for letting us enjoy your home we would recommend it to anyone for a relaxing break
Yvonne
Thanks to our hosts Rob, Vicky and Izzy we had a very lovely and comfortable stay. The welcome package was an unexpected, very thoughtful surprise and the beautiful fridge art too . We definitely will be back!
Charlie

While there'll be plenty to keep you entertained at The Chalet itself, if you plan to get out and about and see some of what Cumbria has to offer, here are some of the nearby attractions you can enjoy during your stay. Please note that some of these activities and days out are paid and it's always a good idea to book in advance to secure your place where applicable.

Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 20 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 23 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 25 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 25 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
