Wolfen Mill is a former water-powered mill built in the 16th Century, set in one acre of fabulous grounds just a short distance from the Lancashire village of Chipping, an area renowned for its abundance of gastro pubs. Historically, the Mill made spindles and bobbins for the local spinning mills, closing production in the 1920s. Completely renovated in 2018, Wolfen Mill provides first-class, award-winning holiday accommodation, ideal for large groups looking to get away from it all and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful haven. The dam or millrace provides a beautiful wildlife haven and the views of 'Parlick Pike' provide a great backdrop to this wonderful holiday retreat, sadly the old water wheel is no longer present.

Providing spacious accommodation, the top floor sitting room offers the centrepiece of the building, with sliding doors opening out onto the decked area overlooking the mill dam, a wonderful place to relax and take in the beautiful surroundings and watch the sun go down. The ground floor dining room provides a great place for the group to get together, enjoy a few early drinks on the adjoining patio and garden area whilst the ‘chefs’ start getting together their culinary delights in the commercial kitchen.

There are a further two kitchens available on this floor, one for each course perhaps or to allow a few more gourmet cooks their own working space. All the bedrooms are set up as separate suites providing guests with their own personal sitting areas, luxurious bedroom, kitchen and modern ensuite bathroom.

Ideal for those wishing to spend a little time away from the main group to relax and unwind in their own luxurious space. This outstanding property is a walker’s delight, surrounded by the stunning Bowland fells, the wildlife-rich landscapes and the Trough of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Wolfen Mill Reviews

Accommodation excellent for large families everyone can have their own space if they want, outside lots of seating and jacuzzi for relaxing was a hit, surrounding area lovely for walks.
We had a fantastic weekend,it was more than we expected. Every room had it's own kitchen and bathroom and space to chill out. The main dining area was a great space for family to eat and chat. The space outside was ideal for us to relax, even when it was a grey November day. Walking to the village meant we could stretch our legs and enjoy the hospitality of the area.

Great place for a family get together. The communal areas were perfect for us to gather but it was also nice to have separate apartments for some downtime. Beautiful view of the mill pond from the lounge, the dining room had ample comfortable seating and the kitchen was very well equipped. Outside areas were spacious and the little indoor seating area was a bonus. Claire was a great host, responding very quickly to queries.
We had such an amazing time at Wolfen Mill. The surroundings are beautiful, and the home is fantastic. I would certainly recommend and I would love to return in the future. Thank you.

A great place and location
Although a lovely comfortable property it was not very dog friendly. Dogs were not allowed upstairs and with the communal lounge being up on the second floor it meant that if we wanted to relax in there in the evening we had to leave our dogs on their own downstairs. Subsequently our evenings were spent in the dining room. Also the dogs were not allowed to foul on the grass in front of the property but given this was the only secure piece of garden it was impossible to stop this happening. Another problem I had Im afraid was the 24 hour surveillance in the communal areas. Felt a bit like big brother watching. Having said all this we enjoyed our holiday and loved catching up with family. The owner was very friendly and accommodating and I wish I didnt have to leave a negative comment but I feel the property would be better advertised as dogs not allowed.

We spent our investment weekend away in this stunning place and really enjoyed it. The villa is beautifulan oldfashioned English style with lots of space, cozy charm, and everything you need to relax. We especially loved the jacuzzi, perfect for unwinding after a long day. The area around is also lovely, with plenty of great places to visit. Peaceful, comfortable, and full of character. Well definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

The place was fantastic, they supply everything you need which is great as I thought to bring foil for cooking but they have it all, which I was impressed with. very spacious and loads of room for 18 people which we had, they only thing I would say is the cushions outside for the seats could be a bit thicker but thats my preference, my mum had a wonderful time and so did all the rest of the family, owners where there if we needed anything which we didnt, great stay and definitely would stay again, thank you xx

Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH

Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
