BlackCap Lodge this is a great place to be, it is surrounded with wildlife every day and allday pheasantsBirdshedgehogs and more . With full length windows on each side gives you great views with the sun shining thru from each side . One of the best things you have a lot of choice for visiting surroundings areas on the coast and local areas .The lodge has electric storage heaters, with separate bath and shower, a wellequipped kitchen with a larder fridge, dishwasher, oven, induction hob, microwave, and wine cooler. There are also a wide range of cooking pot and pans and utensils. We will be coming back again because it so peaceful.

We had a lovely stay in the Blackcap lodge, nice and peaceful, and there was a welcome basket off the owners which was a lovely welcome, everything we needed apart from there wasn't a washing machine which we did miss having, but apart from that it was great, and seeing the Moorhens running around was great, would definitely recommend it to people.

Very relaxing short break at Blackcap. Comfortable, warm and welcoming accommodation. Lovely to have the hot tub set up and ready for us to use when we arrived. The welcome pack was excellent, loved to snacks and great filter coffee. Peaceful outlook, loved watching the birds roam the grounds from the lounge. Would defiantly return. We just missed the turning when we first arrived as the farm sign is not on main road.

This was the first time that we had used Sykes Cottages after a referral from a friend. Blackcap was the perfect choice and had everything we may have needed. The lodge is in a really beautiful rural setting, is clean and well presented. Rob contacted us to see if we would like the hot tub fired up for our arrival and there was a welcome basket, including milk, which was a lovely touch. We did not meet our hosts, however we knew we could contact them should we have needed anything. This was an experience that we enjoyed and couldnt have been any happier. We would definitely recommend and would come back again. Thank you
This was the third visit this year to Black Cap and it never disappoints. Upon arrival for our seven night stay, we really appreciated the welcome package. Becca was also so kind and helpful and I knew if there was any issues these would be sorted. The peace and tranquility at Black Cap really is something to be experienced. Could not be happier! We are booked for November and cannot wait to return already! Many thanks.
A homely cottage in a lovely setting, handily placed to explore the area. Wish we had enough holiday allocation from work to stay a full week!
Hannah
We had a fabulous time at Black Cap. The place is spotlessly clean and has everything you could meed. Its in a beautiful rural setting which is lovely and peaceful. Rob heated the hot tub before we arrived so we could enjoy it on our first evening which was a lovely touch. Cant wait to return!
Blackcap was exactly what we signed up for. A quiet self contained cabin in an idyllic setting. The property was as described, really well maintained, clean and stocked with all the utensils we needed. An absolute bonus was that we were running late for our grocery delivery, Rob kindly met took it all in and put away all the fridgefreezer items. Top notch service! Highly recommend this property!
Beautiful lovely home! We had a fantastic weekend and the facilities were great. The lodge had everything we needed and the hosts were accommodating and welcoming. Would 100 recommend to future guests and will definitely rebook and return!

An Unforgettable Stay at Blackcap Cottage 5 Stars! I would give more if I could Weve stayed in many cottages over the years, but Blackcap Cottage truly stands out as one of the very best. From the moment we arrived, Rob made us feel incredibly welcome. Hes such a kind, thoughtful host the sort who goes the extra mile without even being asked. The cottage itself was immaculately clean and beautifully presented, with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. And the woodfired hot tub? Absolutely out of this world. Sitting under the stars in the warm bubbling water, it was pure magic. We also fell in love with the resident guinea fowl so adorable and full of character! It added such a lovely, quirky charm to the place. Blackcap Cottage is a peaceful, highquality retreat in a stunning setting. Weve stayed at a lot of properties over the years, but this one truly captured our hearts. Were already planning our return and we cant wait!
Lovely place to stay. We would definitely go back if we wanted to holiday in that area. Nice thick bedroom curtains however not blackout so we got woken up very early by the sun. No dressing table, so had to sit up the dining room table to do hair and make up with no mirror. However loved the little touches of a little basket full of bits in the kitchen, games and puzzles under the table. Hot tub was amazing and we enjoyed it every evening. Great kitchen. Just great overall x
A very relaxing place to stay. Few minor things like hooks on back of bathroom door, and a dressing table with mirror. Lovely to see all the wild life that came to visit i.e. hares, rabbits, pheasants, birds of prey, moor hen, house martins, swifts, not to mention the very entertaining guinea fowl. Hot tub great, but need an extra step and hand rail if you are not over 5 foot tall. All in all a lovely place to stay.
Andrew
Second stay at blackcap. Looking to book again for next year already. Fantastic stay, lovely property great location convenient for York park and ride and also the coast. Property has everything needed and was very clean.
Fabulous break away. Nice little touches. Property was amazing. Everything you needed. Would definitely recommend.
This was our second visit to Blackcap and it was as enjoyable as our first visit back in March. The vibe here is one of complete peace and tranquility. If you want to get away from it all, Blackcap has everything you need for a completely non stressful stay. There is a petrol station a couple of miles away in Fridaythorpe that has all the essentials should you run out of anything. My partner and I have also booked to stay for 7 nights in August and also for the New Year, it really has become a very special place for us and I would wholeheartedly recommend staying here if you want a truly relaxing break away! We cant get enough of Blackcap. See you in August!
Excellent accommodation. Everything was provided and a few extras on top which we appreciated. Lovely nature observed from the door step. 10 out of 10 place to stay. Thank you
Fantastic long weekend stay for my partners 30th birthday lovely lodge in a nice peaceful area with amazing views. Everything I could have asked for and more. Rob messaged before arriving to ensure the Hot tub was ready for our arrival. Will deffo be returning and recommending to friends and family. Thank you
What can I say about this place it exceeded so many expectations. It provided not just a relaxing retreat, but everything within the lodge was done to such a high specification. The hot tub was amazing and the grounds are simply beautiful, My partner and I have already booked again for a long weekend in May. A really special place and cannot wait for our second visit, Thanks to the owner for the communication prior to our stay. I cannot recommend enough.
Dennis
This was a perfect getaway to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. Rob was such an amazing host, messaged before me we left London to ensure the hot tub would be ready for us on arrival. They have a lovely welcome hamper and overall very clean, peaceful and private. Ill definitely be booking again!
We visited for my partners birthday celebration blackcap was amazing, a truly beautiful and scenic area, and the cabin was immaculate. Hot tub was lit ready for our arrival, which included bubbles and lights.
We had the best time here at Blackcap and would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a quiet and peaceful area with some animals from the local farm and beautiful birds that came to visit most days.

Me and the Mrs had a wonderful stay the cabin was really nice inside and out and loved seeing the guinea fowl, the weather wasnt on our side but still had a great time will be recommending it to our friends back home and hope to be back in the Summer

Great cottage, loved the location. Great spot for a weekend of walking and relaxing.
An amazing stay in a beautiful place. The lodge was excellent and had everything we could have needed. It was immaculately clean and very well resourced. Located in a perfect area to explore North Yorkshire. Rob was very welcoming and had the hot tub ready for our arrival. We 100 recommend this lodge for a lovely stay. We will be recommending and back ourselves! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Me and my girlfriend have recently returned from Blackcap following a stay for ... Me and my girlfriend have recently returned from Blackcap following a stay for our 1 year anniversary and we both found it absolutely faultless, one minor gripe that we both havehad is that oven gloves and tea towels could be provided for the kitchenette, this aside we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the pheasants, guinea fowl and other local wildlife poking about near the premises gave a lovely rural touch to a modern countryside retreat both already looking to book again for next year
Robert
The owners were great there if required and never intrusive. All was very clean hot was excellent plenty of supplies to keep you going only problem was the weather. Only fault was the shower in the bathroom as this could not be used as this flooded the lodge as we found out first time used and only time used this needs sorting urgently. This is the only problem and did not spoil our stay which was great and would stay again.
This property is an absolute gem. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay from start to finish. The owners were very informative and provided everything we needed during our stay. We really appreciated the extra effort of getting the hot tub ready and heated prior to our arrival. The lodge was fantastic! Beautifully presented, clean and honestly a perfect place for a short getaway. 5 Would definitely recommend. We will definitely be back.
Oliver
Property was fantastic we had an amazing time and the owners were super helpful. The property has been done to an extremely high standard and had everything we needed. The setting was incredible. Bed and furniture were extremely comfortable. One thing to note and one ask the hot tub was heated by a woodfired stove takes 13 hours to heat up which was fun but my wife said she wouldnt want to do that on her own the owners do offer their support. The towels were lovely, but the big towels 1 each were too small for a 5 property with a hot tub. Would be great to either get some bigger ones, or have 2 each, in the future. A final tip Im sure this is obvious but bring a bathrobe for the hot tub we didnt expect them to be provided, but one we took with us was really handy for hot tub.
Michael
Perfect home away from home, the Lodge had everything we needed. Amazing location, we went on some lovely walks. Very private, surrounded by nature. Thank you very much to the hosts, we loved it!
