Wren Place Hall, a rare Grade II* listed Georgian masterpiece dating back to 1685, offers an extraordinary escape in the heart of South Yorkshire. Sympathetically restored and extended in partnership with Historic England, this remarkable property combines period grandeur with contemporary elegance, creating a luxurious setting for gatherings and celebrations.

Set over three floors and sleeping up to 18 guests, the Hall features eight beautifully appointed bedrooms, seven with en-suite facilities, including two accessible doubles on the ground floor. The interiors showcase classical proportions, original panelling, and statement chandeliers, complemented by bespoke furnishings from leading designers.

Guests can unwind in a choice of reception rooms, including a panelled morning room and a drawing room with a concealed priest hole, or dine in style in the formal dining room beneath a listed Aesop plaque. The handcrafted Smallbone kitchen is a culinary haven, complete with AGA ovens, twin dishwashers, and wine fridge.

Beyond the interiors, 3.5 acres of landscaped grounds provide an idyllic backdrop, featuring alfresco dining for 20, a barbecue kitchen, two hot tubs, and lawns for croquet and cricket. Converted cellars house a private bar, gym, and cinema room with surround sound and gaming facilities.

Located in the Castleford area of West Yorkshire this is a fun family day out with loads of activities under one roof.   For the energetic there is a real snow slop for skiing and rock climbing walls.  For the more laid back then there is a cinema and bowling alley.  This place caters for all ages and there are seasonal events on throughout the year too. Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens - YO19 6HP

A day trip to Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens is the perfect way to relax with several gardens to explore in the grounds of a historic farmhouse. The gardens were established 30 years ago and each has something different to offer. Expect to find dramatic displays of foliage and flowers as well as beautifully landscaped areas. Families will enjoy the woodland which leads to a wildlife pond and a beautiful wildflower meadow. The site runs morning courses in gardening throughout the summer which are priced at just £12 and include coffee. There is also a nursery onsite where plants can be purchased. Entry to the gardens cost just £4 for adults and 50p for children.

This is a top class theme park with plenty to do for the whole family.  From thrilling rides to more gentle activities for the little ones this place is ideal.  The best thing is that 50% of their attractions are under cover so the British weather needn't spoil the fun.
Heights of Abraham - DE4 3PT

This unique attraction combines an array of activities.  If you have a look on their website there are some good video clips which give an even better idea of what this attraction is all about.  Some of the highlights include the Cable Car system which is actually Britain's first alpine style cable car system.  You are transported from the valley floor right up above where you can enjoy superb Dewent Valley Views.  You can also stroll around 60 acres of wooded hillside on foot to see an array of birds and wildlife.
Gulliver's Kingdome - WA5 9YZ

Gulliver's Kingdome is a family friendly theme park offering many attractions for children of all ages. The site is rather unique and features a huge array of rides including log flumes, roller coasters and pirate ships. For the little ones there are rides such as the veteran cars and the balloon wheel and Diego and Dora the Explorer are on hand to make sure they are having a great time. Between the 21st and 31st of October the park becomes a spooky Halloween spectacular with a range of shows and fireworks to enjoy. Standard prices are £12.00 for adults and children over 90cm. Group booking discounts are available.
