Tours and wine tastings are available at Kent's original vineyard, 4 miles away, while the pretty neighbouring village of Cranbrook (5 miles) has a windmill, a museum and an array of independent shops.

Visit Hawkhurst (8.5 miles), part of the “Smugglers Trail”; it’s home to a digital cinema and a gastropub, and anglers will love the village’s fish farm which has a waterside cafe. Further away, you can explore the historic town of Rye (19 miles).
