About Smugglers

A south-east facing Victorian semi-detached cottage set in an attractive wooded valley 0.5 miles from Perranporth, home to one of the most stunning beaches in the whole of North Cornwall. Featuring an open-plan lounge/diner, two bedrooms and a large enclosed garden, this two-storey gem is perfect for small families or two couples craving a relaxing stay close to the sea.

Accessed via an unmade driveway, the cottage’s charm is immediately obvious even before you step inside its traditionally-styled interior. The open-plan lounge/diner is the kind of snuggly bolthole with a beamed ceiling that comes into its own in the evenings, with comfortable furniture all in one corner and countryside views through its large windows.

The kitchen is deceptively large and will take care of any and all of the locally-produced food you can find during your travels. The first floor features a family bathroom and two homely bedrooms, a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, both of which offer ample storage.

The cottage’s large enclosed garden enjoys wonderful views of the surrounding countryside, a perfect place to sit and watch the day over a picnic. Perranporth’s three-mile sandy beach (0.5 miles) is a mecca for water sports lovers, its nearby sand dunes home to a multitude of wildlife.

The village itself offers shops, cafes and pubs offering local delicacies, and a trip to any is the ideal way to begin or end a walk along one of the many walking trails in the area, not the least of which is the South West Coast Path.

Charles
A lovely cosy cottage. We got used to the parking after a couple of days. Friendly and helpful owners who live next door. Very peaceful with the sounds of wildlife outside. We heard the owl every evening.
John
Lovely warm , quirky old cottage, well equipped with everything one could need for a good quality holiday ! Very comfortable beds too ! Peaceful quiet position with great countryside views.
Kerry
Great cottage. Everything was there that we could possibly need. Location was a short 10 mins away from the beach, perfect. Final part of the road to the cottage was narrow but we made it and felt easier each time we travelled it. Neighbours were lovely and very friendly.
Jo
This is a lovely comfortable cottage, extremely well equipped, with delightful neighbours too. The only downside is access which the first time is a bit daunting but after that is a breeze!
Judy
Great location and house with more than expected home comforts. Lovely touches such as basics of coffee & tea, washing liquid, dishwasher stuff etc. Perfect for heading into Perranporth for beach days or further field for exploring Cornwall. Definitely a tight squeeze up the lane - we managed with our large Tesla Y though (& so easy to be able to charge!) We did a Sainsburyâ??s delivery, but just met at the bottom of the lane as no chance of a van getting up to the house! The weather wasnâ??t good enough for enjoying the garden, but looks a perfect spot for evening drinks outside!
Kate
Beautiful cottage in a great location.
Angela
Very peaceful location with the added bonus of having lots of local amenities within walking distance. The owners next door very friendly but not intrusive
Mike
Cottage was clean, comfortable and well appointed. We were met by the owners (and their cat) who were friendly and made us feel welcome. The cottage is well situated for the beach, which is only a few minutes walk down the hill. Parking space for one car is accessed up a narrow lane, with a sharp right turn into spot. There are shops, for food and provisions nearby. Overall, an ideal location for a vacation by one of the best Cornish surfing beaches.
Will
Great cottage. Well kitted out and unlike others I have stayed in with dishwasher tablets, cleaning equipment etc. lovely old features so very enjoyable.
Helen
We stayed at this cottage for 1 week with our 2 boys, aged 9 & 15. The cottage was perfect, well equipped with everything we needed. The location of the cottage is in an ideal spot peaceful and away from the centre of Perranporth, only 10 minutes walk to the beach and shops with a park on route for the boys to play in.

Smugglers Cottage is excellent. The house was clean on arrival, well furnished. Even though you're on the fringe of Perranporth, it was so quiet it felt like being out in the countryside. Hosts were friendly and welcoming and we would certainly book Smugglers again.
John
I was in a Mondeo and it was a VERY tight squeeze up the lane! A long car needs a bit of manoeuvring up a combined very steep gradient and round (almost a u turn) onto the actual driveway. Soon got used to it, and reversing out to leave for a day out is quite easy. Probably need someone outside guiding you if you don't have sensors.
Sandra
Lovely cottage in a great location
