Lower Walreddon Barn is a beautifully converted, detached stone barn within walking distance of open moorland in Whitchurch, Devon. This stunning, pet-friendly rural retreat is within easy reach of popular Tavistock and perfect for family or friends looking to explore this scenic region.

This reverse-level barn offers a vaulted, open-plan living/dining/kitchen area with a woodburning stove for those cooler evenings, and plenty of space for a group of eight to enjoy precious moments together. The sociable kitchen and breakfast bar provide ample opportunities for guests to spend time together while creating a delicious meal.

Venture outside to enjoy the rolling countryside views and dine in your private enclosed garden, ideal for dog lovers in the group. Unwind after a day of exploring in the wood-fired hot tub, perfectly positioned for relaxing evenings under the stars.

As evening falls, follow the wooden staircase down to the lower bedroom level, where you will find four well-appointed bedrooms, all with built-in storage. The first room you reach is a king-size bedroom with en-suite walk-in shower and freestanding bathtub, positioned next to a twin bedroom — ideal for a family.

Further along the corridor is another king-size bedroom with a shower en-suite, located next to the final twin room. Both twin bedrooms are served by a family shower room.

Spend your days on the moor looking for Dartmoor ponies and enjoying local walks around the River Tavy, or head further afield to the South Devon coastline. Embrace the local charm and explore the culinary delights at Fishbone Restaurant, The Leaping Salmon, The Tamar Inn, and The Annex Tavistock — all just a short drive away for a delicious dining experience.

For a day out, head to Plymouth to catch a show at Theatre Royal Plymouth, marvel at marine creatures at the National Marine Aquarium, or enjoy a leisurely evening stroll around Royal William Yard. The site has a wonderful Café serving home cooked meals, a fun Soft Play Area for younger children, an Agility Course for older kids and several Nature Trails for the family to explore together. The site also displays working and static exhibits of Steam Engines as well as old Fairground Rides so is educational as well as fun!

This attraction is really unique in that you have the opportunity to gain a rare insight into a working sanctuary.  You can see first hand all of the fantastic work carried out as well as seeing the monkeys themselves.  Other popular areas of this attraction include the Bat Cave and Wildlife Room. the Wildlife Gardens and the kids play area.  There is something for everyone at The Monkey Sanctuary and you can also sponsor and donate if you wish.  The cost to adopt a monkey is from just £2 a month.
Hedgehog Hospital at Prickly Ball Farm - EX20 3TA

If you are looking for a fun family day out with a difference then a visit to the Hedgehog Hospital is a great choice. While visiting the hospital children can learn about these shy wild animals and the dangers they face in the wild as well as how we can help them. The farm is a halfway house for sick hedgehogs and children can meet some of the animals that are almost ready to go back to the wild. The farm also has a gift shop, a coffee shop and a wildlife garden as well as a pet's area with Rabbits and Guinea Pigs.
