Red House is a substantial family home set in a unique and stunning location in Uplyme near Lyme Regis, Devon. Set in picturesque grounds with acres of land, including a former double grass tennis court, croquet lawn and a patio with heated outdoor living room with coffee/tea and table football and hot tub, this magnificent residence provides an exceptional base for exploring Devon and Dorset.

It was added as additional accommodation to a magnificent 200 year old late - Jacobean house built by Admiral Sir John Talbot (who served with Lord Nelson), and funded by his Royal Navy Bounties for capturing enemy ships. You will find the ample off-road parking area at the side of the house.

Step inside and first discover the kitchen/living space, featuring a centre island with granite tops, a large AGA cooker and other integrated appliances, sure to inspire some home-cooking. Enjoy mealtimes in the elegant dining room, toasting to a special getaway, before escaping to the snug for a cosy evening by the open fire or the large sitting room with TV.

Find the 6 double beds upstairs, offering a family en-suite room with two king beds , three double bedrooms and a master ensuite bedroom with magnificent valley / sea views from the veranda. Both en-suites have roll top baths and there is a large walk in shower room for something quicker.

The quality of this home continues outside; a large patio space is well-equipped for summer barbecues and alfresco dining, plus the inviting hot tub offers a fantastic way to end the evening. Work up a sweat in the sauna, challenge each other to a game of ping-pong, all from the cellar and outdoor living room that has table football.

The charming village of Uplyme is nearby, offering a traditional green and a great choice of pubs serving up delicious fare after a long day. From Uplyme, there is a riverside walk from the village into Lyme Regis with its family-friendly beaches, independent shops and galleries, along with must see attractions including the iconic Cobb Harbour and Aquarium.

We had the most incredible stay here at Red House this weekend and honestly couldnt have asked for a better place for our group! The house comfortably slept all 11 of us, with plenty of communal space for everyone to relax without ever feeling crowded. One of the absolute highlights was enjoying a cup of tea on the balcony in the morning, taking in the beautiful sea view, such a peaceful and special way to start the day. The location is absolutely perfect, just a lovely walk to the beach and only a short distance from the charming town of Lyme Regis, which made exploring the area so easy and enjoyable. The facilities truly made the stay special. The hot tub and sauna were such a treat and gave it that extra touch of luxury perfect for unwinding after a day out at the beach! Everything was wellmaintained and thoughtfully set up for guests. The hosts were welcoming and generous. We were especially touched by the basket of goodies waiting for us on arrival, which was such a lovely and thoughtful gesture. Overall, this place exceeded all expectations and wed highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, comfortable, and memorable group getaway! We would love to come back with our children next time!

Lovely spacious house and grounds for our family holiday. We appreciated the welcome goodies and bubbles and the generous supply of all the necessities. Everyone enjoyed the extensive garden, the hot tub and sauna and the lovely walks down to the sea. Just one suggestion for a house of this size and the number of people, another shower or two would have been helpful.

Amazing property. The Red House was perfect for a group of mostly couples celebrating a 25th birthday, we had so much fun. Every room was well equipped, especially the kitchen. We loved the games cupboard and hamper. The sauna, cold plunge tub, hot tub and grounds is fantastic and there is so much to do and great walks to Lyme Regis. You can tell the house is very loved by the family, would certainly visit again.

Wow. What a place! We were a big family group, and found thay the house suited us all really well. Amazing grounds to be enjoyed even during a wet half term week. The house needed a good clean, the kitchen especially. The hot tub was lovely but after the second day of using it , it started to resemble a muddy puddle with no means of keeping it clean. We made the most of it and enjoyed being all together.

We booked The Red House for a large family get together. It was excellent!! The kiddies really didnt want to go home! Neither did the adults It had so many things to do in an amazing setting with such lovely accommodation. We couldnt have asked for more. The rope swing was a big hit, as was the jacuzzi, outdoor shower, summer house, sauna, badminton, table tennis, table football and barbecue!! The grounds were awesome we really really miss them! The kiddies just loved the freedom of it all

Reported issue re leaks in both bathrooms. Kitchen tap also needs repair as it has a constant leak.These issues are reported allowing owner to address rather than the property be spoilt. Ago could do with a good clean although we didnt use it. That said,we had a great time and loved staying in this family home. Cannot think of one thing that it was lacking equipment wise. Bedding and towels etc beautifully clean. Lovely welcome pack.Good parking space.Made some great memories here. Would highly recommend.

We had a great holiday at the Red House. We were a family of three generations 6 adults and 3 children aged 5 months, 2 and 4 .There was plenty of room in this beautiful house as well as an abundance of utensils, pots and pans, crockery, glasses etc. The outside was a real highlight with lovely areas to enjoy and places to explore. The hot tub and games room including the table tennis were a real hit with the adults. It would have been helpful to have a highchair but we were able to bring one with us. The owner was friendly and helpful as was Will the housekeeper. We all thoroughly enjoyed the walk to Lyme Regis, which was beautiful and was pramchild friendly if you walk the first part by Rhode lane and then take the bridal path which follows the river Lim. All in all we had a fantastic holiday at the Red House and we wouldnt hesitate to come back again.

We loved our week at the Red House. It was my 70th birthday a few days before & so were away with family 9 the 4 grandsons loved the huge garden & facilities available. We had a table tennis tournament amongst ourselves & Grandad was the winner, the boys played everyday, loved it. Walking from the property following the woods & stream to Lyme Regis is lovely, although all up hill coming back, but worth the effort. Overall holiday property was exceptional & ideal for family gatherings etc. has everything you need inside & out.

This is a perfect house for any large gathering. It feels like a family home and is very comfortable. It has everything you could possibly need to keep everyone happy. My grandchildren enjoyed all the books and toys and the wonderful garden. There is so much space both inside and out with plenty of good quality facilities you don't really need to leave yet is only a 10 minute drive of the beach. Any queries we had were answered and addressed quickly by both the housekeeper and owner for which we thank them. We would suggest that a key safe at the back door with a couple more keys for both doors would be helpful as we found using the back door easier than the front and only 1 front door key was awkward.

We had a fabulous stay at the Red House. It was perfect for our large family! We loved all the outdoor spaces and there was plenty of space indoors too. The location is very convenient and we enjoyed lots of local walks. It was great to be able to walk into Lyme Regis without having to take the car. Wonderful!

A beautiful Property with easy access to everything we wanted to see. We were a group 6 adults and 5 children, they had a lots of fun, the garden is beautiful and spacious and the hot tub was a hit. A lovely cozy living room with all the facilities you could possibly need. Host were lovely enough to leave a complimentary basket of goodies. The property is very old with wooden detail, some of the flooring snagged our children so we had to out a plaster on it to make sure they were not hurt. The cat flap is left open, but it is big enough to allow a grown man access into the house this may be a Londoners perspective as we are not so trusting. House was left on heating 19 degrees so felt a little Cold in the early night but fine in the bedrooms. Other than that we had a lovely stay thank you. Jas

Very disappointed. We were told the central heating in the building was not working the day before we travelled. Too late to make alternative arrangements. Owner offered 100 a night compensation until it was fixed. With little alternative we agreed and had two very cold days in the house. No compensation was subsequently paid. These rentals rely on mutual trust. You feel exploited when that trust is compromised.

Amazing property. Large family group ranging from 25 to 61 years of age. Fantastic facilities. Excellent living spaces and very comfortable bedrooms. There wasn't anything we needed during our stay. There's usually a couple of items that you think it would be handy to have provided but not in this case. The only very very small comment from us and not to any detriment as we managed was more instructions on use of the aga and where to put the rubbish would have been helpful.

We found the house perfect for our family holiday. We had 4 generations of our family and they all enjoyed the facilities. One minor missing element was a high chair as we had a one year old with us.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your magnificent house. Our only suggestion is to add more information to the instruction book. We found the link to use aga didnt work. We had no idea where our bin was for dog poo. And more information on controlling hot water and central heating would be useful .

Lovely, large space for our family group celebrating my birthday. Our grandchildren cried at having to go home which confirms they loved the weekend here. Plenty of space and games for them to enjoy.

We had an amazing family holiday at the Red House. We made lots of memories, relaxed and enjoyed all the facilities it provided.The space was incredible and great value for money. The location was beautiful, quiet and the views were stunning. We did lots of walking and it was a nice walk down to the beach. Thank you for providing us with a superb property and base for our family holiday, the house was more than adequately kitted out for the number of us and with so much much space and a great many things to enjoy and keep us busy. We loved the grass tennis court area it was great for football, tennis and the dog. The croquet set was put to good use and was also much fun. With the gym, hot tub and sauna to use too it was all we could have wanted and also had the bonus of lots of lovely walks into Lyme Regis to enjoy what was on offer in the Town. For us it was a perfect location and I think we will be returning in the future.

Lovely property, really well equipped and a fantastic place to stay with our big multi generation family group from aged 1 to mid seventies and a dog! Great walks nearby, Lyme Regis was sunny and glorious to visit, but the huge outside BBQ, hot tub and huge lawn area to play lawn games on we brought some also made the house a great place to come back to and spend time.

A wonderful stay in Red House, its a lovely location with a beautiful walk down into Lyme. The house is well equipped and the owner was easily contactable despite being in America and navigating time zones. We would definitely go back.

We felt so lucky to have this property for a long weekend. Its enormous and theyve thought of everything. The hot tub and sauna are fantastic. Great property for all ages and large groups, enough space to not feel on top of each other and room to share moments.
