Bwthyn Pengwern Reviews

Lovely little cottage surrounded ny working farm. Surprisingly quiet given its situation. Hot tub water was warm but wrong time of year to dry off given that we couldn't find any central heating in the cottage. Only wood burning stove in the living room and no wood. Saw farmer regularly. Nice young man. Very friendly. Would stay again. Good base for N Wales.
We loved our stay there ,perfect location to get to Snowdon . Cottage was clean and comfortable we did struggle with only one bathroom toilet . Just needs a screen for privacy at the corner of the hot tub . Other than that I would recommend this and we would go back again .
Tracey
The Owners of the the bungalow were friendly welcoming and left eggs and cake on arrival which was lovely, thsnkyou We were aware the bungalow was on a farm but we didnt realise in the middle of the farm so privacy was not good for use of the lovely hot tub, so felt we could only use it at night. The bungalow was spacious and clean, however was in need of some TLC. Outdoor furniture was in poor condition . Inside bungalow there were water marks on wall and bedroom ceiling and in need of refreshing, plus handles on cupboardsdoors were loose. We had a nice stay but would only give 3 stars.

Had a great week at Bwthyn Pengwern. Lovely cottage on a working farm set in beautiful countryside and only two miles from Dinas Dinlle beach. We had some lovely walks, especially down the lanes from the farm to the estuary. The owners are a lovely young couple and were on hand to answer any questions and my granddaughter was delighted to be asked to see the piglets. Would definitely recommend and we hope to return soon.
Great cottage, owners really friendly and helpful, Hot tub was fantastic.

We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage bwythyn is a cosy place with relaxed, and tranquil vibes. We felt settled, and immediately at home. Our dog absolutely loved it here too, and was as happy, and chilled as we were. So much so, he began acting as though this was his property, barking at the family who own the farm sorry. I must say, what a lovely family. We didnt meet the owners as they were away themselves, but we met some of their extended family. They checked all was OK for us, and they are very welcoming, which made us feel at home. They are lovely, and I couldve chatted to them all day! In all, the cottage was perfect for us, the setting too. I will always champion anywhere which is dog friendly, as although places are becoming more accommodating to dogs, still, not everywhere is. This does limit choices, especially as we take our dog on holidays, and for days away. For us, this cottage being dog friendly was brilliant. However, the cottage is free of dog smell, and evidence of dogs. This to me speaks of a clean place, which the cottage is, and its very neat, and tidy. Yes, there a few cobwebs and small spiders, but in any rural setting, including in our own home, Id expect this its just part of the countryside. The cottage has fresh bedding, towels, hand towels, and a cloth for washing pots, and a dish washer tab is provided. There is also hand wash and hand cream. There is a microwave, kettle, toaster, dishwasher, washing machine, coffee machine, oven and hob, and all the implements youd need to eat, drink, and cook with. There is ample storage everywhere too. The bathroom also has a bath, as well as a shower. Id say to anyone booking this property, remember that this cottage is on a working farm. There will be mud, and sheep, and so on, but for us, we loved it we have lived very close to farms, and it does feel very like home to us. What was important for us during our stay was how comfortable we were in the cottage. More so though, the outdoor setting, the space, the quiet, and being able to sit in the garden, watching the birds, and just relaxing with our dog. Plus, its a fantastic location too, because of its proximity to Caernarfon, and other areas. A highlight for me, I did get an invite to see the piglets, which made my day! We also did use the hot tub, which is a lovely touch. The family also provided a gift of fresh farm eggs, and Welsh cakes both things we love thank you. Another point to mention is that the cottage is situated behind the main farm house, so, as a rule, if you needed anything you are close enough to the owners. Id rebook this property again. We love the Caernarfon area anyway, and this place was just perfect for us. We were really happy throughout our stay here, and I just want to say a massive thank you to the family. Thank you!!!
Absolutely lovely place to stay with family or friends, the area around is beautiful and peaceful. The cottage itself is amazing and very homely, Im so happy I picked this place for a holiday and would love to come back
We really enjoyed our three nights and would definitely stay again. The cottage is really big and incredibly peaceful. We had everything we needed and the whole place was clean and tidy both inside and out, with friendly, helpful hosts and delicious fresh eggs. North Wales has so much to offer that however long you stay, it won't be long enough! The only very minor things we noted were some of the jets in the hot tub didn't work and the were no coat hooks in the porch but after reading previous reviews, it is clear the owners are very proactive with their feedback and I don't doubt they will address these. Thank you for a lovely few days!
We had a lovely stay and would have liked to stay longer . The hot tub was a big hit with the kids . Owner really friendly. Would definitely reccomend for a nice quiet stay.. Not complaints but some feedback mattresses weren't very comfortable . Would be good if there was a cloth and sponge to be able to wash up wipe down. Sure anyone that stays will have a lovely time .
Cottage very comfy, spacious and quiet. had everything we needed and the hot tub was a luxury
Matthew
We had a lovely stay and would definitely return. So much to do in the area we ran out of time. The Welsh Highland Railway close by which provides day trips through the lush landscapes. Snowdonia National park about a 15 min drive and a must visit. Hot tub at end of the day was a great treat to unwind. Caernarfon is another great place to visit. Cant wait to come back. Special thanks to Ioan for sharing his farming experiences and letting Joseph help where he could. Well be back.
Very pleasant stay Cottage clean but in need of TLC near to beach and towns Very good hosts
Absolutely recommend. Its a working farm, with a beautiful family trying to make a living. It is remote, but with that comes the beauty of simple living and scenery. It was lambing season so was invited to see lambs being born, but the sheep are also on the fields just outside the cottage door so we were constantly in and out with our toddler looking at the sheep and lambs this kept him very entertained. Theres a Morrisons, Tesco and pubs nearby but also some of the most beautiful walks, hikes and climbs whatever your into. We walked miles each day, got back made a log fire and enjoyed a hot tub in the evening once littleun was in bed. This is a relaxing haven in a beautiful rural setting which I would recommend to anyone!!
Great comfortable cottage very spacious lounge with great log burner. Hot tub is a real bonus powerful jets and lights. Bathroom also has a jacuzzi bath which adds some luxury. Owners are v friendly but not intrusive and offered a welcome gift which was much appreciated! I would highly recommend staying here.

Nice place. We really enjoyed our stay after a difficult year. It had a nice spacious room for the family to enjoy and mix. The location is not too far from Llanberis or Caenarfon. I would recommend and would stay again. The owner was also approachable and friendly. Thank you
Elizabeth
We had a great stay here. Lovely accommodation and a great base to explore this area of Wales. Would definitely book again.
Lovely cottage and lovely family that own it and run the farm. The hot tub was lovely the end of the day
We really enjoyed our stay, the owners were friendly, available but not intrusive, our children enjoyed being shown around the farm. Despite how busy he was, nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was warm and cosy, the beds and sofas were comfy and the hot tub well maintained with powerful jets what more could you want for a relaxing break?! Although an ideal location for peace and tranquility it is also located within easy driving access to walking routes, a lovely beach, supermarkets and velocity. There are many more things to do listed in the cottage information folder but I can only comment on the above things that we as a young family with a dog did. My only feedback and this is trivial, hence why we didnt disturb the owners about it at the time, because it didnt spoil our stay is that the cutlery was quite small and childlike plus there was only six of each crockery items which meant the dishwasher being used half loaded or you washing up several times a day in order to have clean plates for lunch time and evening meal. We really wished wed stayed for more than four nights because we all enjoyed our stay here and would really consider a repeat stay.
Teresa
Perfect holiday made extra special by the lovely family. They were vey helpful talked to us about the farm and what goes on it was great. Beautiful beach very close by 5mins in the car. Well situated to explore all that North Wales has to give. I would highly recommend this cottage for a stay you will be delighted with it, everything you need is supplied. The hot tub is a welcome sight when you get back from a day of exploring, you can sit in the hot tub and chill. Will be going back for more.
Such a fantastic stay. The couple went out of their way to make us all comfortable. My children even got to hold a lamb in the barn. Very personal and professional at the same time. I would highly recommend staying here.
1. Mattresses on beds need replacing. Before next season 2Heating needs upgrading, chimney needs sweepin urgently.3.Bottom to oven to left under grill not working. 4. No real facilities nearby especially for young families. 5. Beaches nearest Nefyn. 6. Dog friendly garden centre nearby.
Really pleased with this cottage. It had everything we needed and location was spot on. Close to all supermarkets and to the beach. The only thing I would note is that we could have done with a non slip mat in the shower as 2 of our party were pensioners and didnt feel too safe on their feet whilst showering, but this is just a personal preference to ourselves and takes nothing away from this property. The hot tub was an added bonus and we really enjoyed it.
Kirsty
I had a really relaxing weekend here with my partner, my friend and my dog. The hosts were very attentive to any requests. Cant wait to come back.
Lovely cottage in a central location. Very spacious and comfortable. We were offered to have a look round the farm. Owners very friendly. Hot tub was lovely. All very good except kitchen . Only half of the large cooker working. Only half of the toaster working, no grill at all. Literally just six of everything cutlery and crockery wise. No serving dishes or even a teapot. Utensils very bendy and of poor quality. Oven trays need replacing too.
Richard
Had a great stay and felt at home in a warm clean environment and great secure space for henrybulldog. Lovely rural location and hot tub was most relaxing too. Everything was in the cottage that made the stay easy washing machine and dishwasher etc. Would recommend to all.
Mellissa
Lovely cottage to stay for a long weekend, the beds were comfy and clean and the cottage had everything we needed. The owners rang and checked everything was ok and we had a little welcome pack on the side with Welsh cakes which was a nice gesture. We used the hot tub on our stay which was a big bonus for the cottage. I would say that the only thing that could be improved was the power of the shower. Overall we had a lovely stay at this cottage.
Jonathan
A group booking so only speaking from my perspective although the sentiment is shared. We had a wonderful stay. It's a cute cottage I actually learned that Bwthyn is Welsh for cottage that is perfectly located for those who want some adventures in the mountains but would like a real bed, real showers and real amenities. We were super lucky with the weather when is North Wales EVER 30C? so we didn't require the washing machine or log burner but it's good to know that it's there. The location is nice and remote and provided us with some wonderful stargazing opportunities from the hot tub. The cottage is situated on a working farm so do expect the farmer to be cutting about doing Gods work. Ioan the farmerowner is an absolute diamond bloke. I really enjoyed chatting with him about the area and its history, the history of his family and farming, solar power and other things. The cottage was clean and welcoming, you'll need to bring toilet roll, extra towels for the hot tub and a few odds like washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets although we left a ton there for the next guests etc. As I said, I really loved the stay and will most likely be booking it for another time of year to get a different experience of North Wales and it's incredible scenery.
Bhawana
We loved our stay here at Bwythyn Pengwern. The owners were really lovely and made sure we were alright he knocked on the door and asked if our electricity was off on our second day and he switched it back on. It never happened again during our stay. We loved the hot tub and just relaxing in the cottage. We loved the surroundings, took little stroll around neighbourhood and the adventures in beautiful North Wales!!!
A beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting. We had such a lovely stay here. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The hot tub was great and very relaxing. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit.
Philip
We had really lovely time at the cottage. We would highly recommend a stay at this farm cottage.
Tiffany
Beautiful family friendly cottage, lovely owners, couldnt be more helpful, happy to show us around the farm, super comfy and set in the most beautiful countryside.
We have just returned from 3 nights at Bwthyn Pengwern, our holiday party consisted of 6 adults, 2 infants and one dog. The home was more than big enough for us all and the bedrooms were homely and comfortable. The property is like a tardis and much larger inside than it appears from the outside. The hot tub and jacuzzi bath are amazing! The property is in an amazing location about 20 minutes from Anglesey and 20 minutes from Llanberis and close to a Morrisons Daily shop. The property is on a working farm and the children were overjoyed to see the sheep and cows onsite and the farm owners were lovely when we bumped into them occasionally. Amazing property, great value and would definitely return if planning a trip back to North Wales.
This is a real gem of a place! A beautiful holiday cottage in a beautiful location. Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts and we felt as though we were home from home. Being on a farm was magical for our children and the farmer and host went above and beyond by letting them sit on the tractor and stroke the new lambs. It was a wonderful experience for them and for us. The hot tub was an added bonus. Immaculately clean and a relaxing way to end the day while watching the sunset. The facilities in the cottage were great and it was so nice being somewhere so peaceful, and yet also a stones throw from local beaches and days out for the kids. Thank you Ione and Catrin, well be back one day soon!
Lindsey
We both had a most relaxing stay here. The owners were delightful and friendly nothing was too much trouble. We even had the greatest opportunity to watch lambs being born which was a first for both of us and then we got to hold a day old lamb which melted our hearts! The bungalow is behind the main farm house and from the windows you get to see mountains one way and sheep the other way. Fantastic. The hot tub was also well used it's so relaxing. The only thing I would ask is that a wider range of kitchen utensils would be very beneficial. We will be back and can't wait to go again.
Beautiful location and property, we really enjoyed our stay and the hot tub was well used! Only slight niggle was that there wasn't a few dishwasher tablets for us to use during our stay so we had to get some. Would return though
We booked 3 days at this lovely cottage, owners were very friendly, the cottage clean and cosy. Hot tub was the bonus and we enjoyed evenings spent outside in October in this. Highly recommend this cottage
Lovely cottage on a working farm, would highly recommend it. In the country but central to lots of attractions. We will definitely be going back.
