About Drifters

Offering incredible, far-reaching views of the sand dunes and sea at Winterton Beach, Drifters provides stunning accommodation for a family or group wanting to escape to this relaxing coastal Norfolk Village. Drifters is a spacious, detached property on a private road in Winterton-on-Sea with a driveway offering parking for up to three vehicles and a small lawned area at the front of the property.

A key box code is required to get inside the property, where you will be met with a grand entrance hall with lovely wooden flooring, leading through to a spacious sitting room which has two sofas and an arm chair, each positioned around the Smart TV with Sky package, perfect for unwinding at the end of the day, there are two sets of French doors that provide lots of light and lead into the huge conservatory, which spans the length of the back of the house. This is one of the highlights of the property, offering uninterrupted sea views, as well as a sofa from which to admire them and a dining table and chairs where you can enjoy home-cooked meals together and take in the incredible scenery.

The generously-sized kitchen has lovely white cupboards with dark work tops and provides plenty of space for preparing meals, or perhaps a picnic to take to the beach, there's even a dishwasher so you don't have to give the washing up a second thought. The ground floor features two bedrooms, a king-size double and a bunk room, both overlooking the front of the property, both are very spacious and offer plenty of storage space for your belongings.

A shower room with nautical-style decor of white tiled floor and blue wood panelling provides a walk-in shower and means there will be no fighting with people upstairs to use the bathroom! Heading up the carpeted staircase, there are a further two bedrooms on the first floor; the master king-size overlooks the sea and has an en-suite shower room for added convenience, while a twin bedroom with ample storage and more incredible sea views completes the line up.

Drifters Reviews

Theresa
We had the perfect week at Drifters. The house was really great, and it accommodated seven of us very comfortably. It was spotlessly clean, and the large conservatory looking out to the sea was a joy. The hot tub was a big hit and got a lot of use. Nick, the property owner, was exceptionally helpful and always contactable. We used the steps at the back of the house to go down onto the beach, which was stunning. We are all looking forward to returning to Drifters in the future.
Drifters was brilliant for a 3 generation holiday. It was extremely well equipped and very clean. The views over the sea were amazing and it was great to have our own step access to the beach, which were easy to manage with the hand rails for a 2 year old and a 70 year old! It was so quiet, even on the beach, which is unusual for August school holidays. Well definitely be coming back.
Fantastic place to stay with stunning views. Nick owner was very attentive checking that all was ok.
Wonderful property with amazing views. You could spend all day in the garden just looking out to sea, it was stunning. House is nice and spacious. There were 8 of us, so having 3 bathrooms was great. We were very lucky with the weather so spent most days on the beach. It was even warm enough to swim in the sea. It is a quiet unspoilt beach, but if you prefer a bit more going on you are not far from the busier beaches that have amusement arcades etc. We enjoyed walks on the beach, stopping for an icecream at the cafe on Winterton beach and doing lots of seal spotting. The Fishermans rest and Winterton fish and chip shop are a short walk away. The pub does a carvery on a Sunday. Hirst farm shop is a 5 minute drive away that sells local produce and also has a cafe with outdoor and Indoor seating. My boys enjoyed a day out sea fishing from Great Yarmouth. Owner's of the property are really friendly and you are able to contact them if you have any questions. Wish we were still there, having breakfast in the garden, watching the boats go by.
A fabulous property, but getting access to the beach was very difficult, especially with a bad hip. Getting onto the beach from Winterton itself was just as bad, as steps down had been washed away in the winter storms, but no effort had been made to replace them. My wife slipped on the soft sand getting back up to the car and skinned her shin on a wooden sleeper halfburied on the steep sand dune. We tried other local beaches and they weren't any better. Unfortunately, we won't ever be returning there.
Upon arriving at the property, we were very excited to see the beach and headed straight down through the garden to explore. However, we were surprised by the steep staircase leading down, which in our opinion would benefit from a more supportive handrail, particularly for younger children and older guests. Unfortunately, we also found access to the beach itself quite difficult due to the steep sand dunes, and climbing back up was particularly challenging. As keen swimmers who had brought a paddle board, we were disappointed that beach access was not as straightforward as we had expected. Aside from this, the house itself was exactly as described in previous reviews clean, spacious, wellequipped, and comfortable for our stay. We experienced a small issue with the hot water initially, but we found the boost button, which resolved the issue within around half an hour. Nick responded promptly to our query, which we appreciated. We did, however, find the heating system slightly difficult to manage, as a preset schedule kept activating despite the mild weather, making the house warmer than necessary at times. Prior to our stay, Nick asked whether we would mind accepting a delivery of cleaning products and placing them in the bathrooms, which we were happy to do. After accepting the parcel, we later received a message from the owner saying he was shocked after seeing the delivery photo because the children had drawn on the driveway with chalk. He mentioned the driveway had recently been cleaned. We reassured him that we would wash it down before leaving. While we completely understand wanting to maintain the property, the interaction did leave us feeling that the home may be better suited to adult groups rather than families with young children.
This is an ideal property for year round holidays for all the family . The property is extremely well appointed. very clean well equipped and so comfortable. Location is incredible overlooking Norfolk coast and so very close to the beach. We all loved the garden especially our dog Ralph and hot tub. Host Nick friendly and very approachable . Not that we have ever had any issues

This house was very comfortable, clean and airy with plenty of space for our party of 7 people crossing three generations. We thought the kitchen was really well equipped and enjoyed cooking and eating with fabulous views. Overall we would definitely recommend this house.
Had a great week at Drifters. The property is in a lovely and quiet location. It's very well designed with a feeling of space as you walk in. There's a definite wow factor entering the huge conservatory for the first time, looking over the dunes and out to sea. Great to be able to access the dunes directly from the garden. It's about a 5 minute walk down and over onto a superb beach. Dunes are great for letting dogs runaround and no need to worry about the kids. Good little cafe on the beach 1015 mins walk to the left The house is very well presented and was spotless on arrival. Nick, the owner was in touch with us beforehand to point out a few things and checked in during the stay to make sure all was ok. Kitchen was well equipped. Might seem like a small thing but there were loads of daily essentials you forget about like bin bags most places don't give you any spares. Clearly well thought through Hot tub is good and well maintained in a very neat garden. Nicely positioned. Fabulous sitting in it looking out seaward Very nice base to come back to after looking around North Norfolk. Managed to get a couple of spectacular photos of a rainbow dipping into the sea one evening Not been to Norfolk before. Drifters is a great place to stay to take in area. Thoughtfully set out, very good experience for guests, kids loved it as did we. I thoroughly recommend and would be more than happy to return

Great property, great location and would definitely look to book this property again! !! We have visited this area for a couple of years now and absolutely love the quietness and how dog friendly it is, including the beaches all year round. Drifters as our holiday house did not disappoint and was perfect for us. We especially loved the conservatory with sofas to relax in as well as the garden with amazing views of the sea. And literally 5 minutes walk down the back of the garden, across the sand dunes to the beach. We had everything we needed at the property as it was well furnished and very well equipped. The personal communication from the property owner was also very good with instructions etc. We would 100 recommend and will look to book again ourselves.
Our third visit to Drifters This is an ideal property for year round holidays for all the family . The property is extremely well appointed. very clean well equipped and so comfortable. Location is incredible overlooking Norfolk coast and so very close to the beach. We all loved the garden especially our dog Ralph and hot tub. Host Nick friendly and very approachable . Not that we have ever had any issues our favourite holiday home in Norfolk we shall definately be returning real soon
Just lovely! The property is well appointed, well equipped and very comfortable. Well were drawn to it initially because of the proximity to the beach, and we were not disappointed. Weve walked in the dunes two or three times each day, and seen the seals on the beach an added bonus. Nick made contact in advance, his messages both helpful and thoughtful. We will definitely return.

Drifters is a beautiful house right next to the sea side with wonderful big views across the dunes and the sea. The house is warm, clean, comfortable, spacious, homely and has a well equipped kitchen. The downstairs rooms are divided by double glass doors which suited us for changeable spaces. Perfect place for us and our 2 little dogs with walks from the back garden straight to the coastline. Couldn't fault it and will definitely be visiting again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Drifters. A very comfortable house with everything we needed. Nick was very helpful and kept in touch. Lovely views from house and garden and enjoyed the hot tub after our swim each day. Great place for the dog. The seals watched us as we swam. Would love to go back.
We were a party of seven. The first couple arrived and sent a text ... 'OMG this place is amazing!!'. That remained the feeling of the whole party throughout our stay. Lovely accommodation, plenty of space and the facilities were just great. The location was fantastic, easy walk to Winterton centre, lovely pub and cafe on the beach, and within an easy drive to Great Yarmouth, the Broads, Cromer, Wellsnext thesea ... and much more. The owner checked by text to make sure we were all OK which was appreciated. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This was are second stay at Drifters & hopefully not our last. From the nice touch of the welcome pack vine & chocolate is always a good start. The house is perfect for a peaceful getaway with direct access to the dunes and beach from the garden. It has everything you need for a relaxing break away. The hot tub at the end of the day is perfect to sit in & look out at the sea. The house is perfect for a get away from it all stay as winterton is a lovely village great for dog walks. The chip shop is a must, friendly tea shop and pub and small local shop. We had good weather to sit in the garden and listen to the sound of silence apart from sea gulls. The dunes & beach are never really busy so you can always find your own space. All in all we had a fantastic family break that suited the 3 generation in a great location & hope to return.
Beautiful property that is perfect as a base to explore from but also somewhere you could sit and enjoy the view for the week.

Lovely, very spacious holiday home, in an amazing position overlooking the sea. The family were wowed by the view and loved being able to access the beach over the dunes via a little gate at the end of the garden. The hot tub was much appreciated and our 20mnth old granddaughter loved the spacious rooms to run around in. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. Communication with the owner Nick was excellent. Being able to walk to the local pub which served delicious food was a bonus. All in all we had a fantastic holiday and would love to return in the future.
Jennifer
A truly lovely house with absolutely amazing sea views. The beds were super comfortable and the house was set up with lots of different places to relax which as we were travelling as a large family group was perfect. On top of this the house is really well equipped with the added bonus of a hot tub to look out to sea in. It also has a really lovely enclosed garden which was perfect for our dog and you could use the gate at the bottom of the garden for access to the beach.Although as our dog is so young we preferred to use the easier access at Winterton Valley which is only marginally longer. Would thoroughly recommend a stay here and have in fact rebooked again for next year.

Drifters was beautiful. We felt at home from day one. It has everything you need. Spotlessly clean. Amazing views. Thank you
We loved the house, really suited our needs and the location was perfect, great views and a gorgeous short walk to the best beach. Our dogs absolutely loved it! My elderly parents would have liked a shower stool but it was no trouble to bring our own. They were very pleased with the grab bar and shower mat provided which looked brand new. They would have preferred twin beds downstairs but do we know you cannot satisfy everyones needs all the time! The hot tub was glorious, however we would have preferred it a degree or two hotter but it wasnt cold by any stretch of the imagination. The gardens were well cared for and our dogs were very happy sitting watching the world go by. The local village and pub were a short drive or walk away and food in the Fishermans Return was excellent. The pub is very dog friendly. This is one of the best places we have ever stayed and we definitely hope to be back.

Amazing property, high quality furnishings and spacious, the view was fantastic, ... Amazing property, high quality furnishings and spacious, the view was fantastic, exceptionally clean and would love to stay there again
Drifters is a beautiful house we all fell in love with it we spent many an hour sitting in the conservatory looking out to sea the only niggle we all had was the seating is very low with no neck support this is no criticism on the owner only all our ages being over 65 we struggled to get up, the house and facilities are first class the garden was enclosed and full of spring flowers, we had lovely weather it was cold but dry we didnt mind that, I hope we can revisit soon we just completely loved it its a very beautiful house and garden definitely the best weve stayed in.
Fantastic property super comfortable and plenty of space we would highly recommend.
Fantastic location! We enjoyed a family Christmas at this lovely house. It had everything we needed, including festive decs. The location is great for walking the dog, running along the dunes or exploring this part of Norfolk, including seeing the seals.
Great location to get to the lovely stretch of beach. The property is very comfortable and well provided. We had a lovely time.
Excellent accommodation
The house was everything we wanted it to be, there was space, we had views and facilities that suited us all. We celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary with Friends but this house would suit most peoples needs be it spending time with family or friends. We also had the added advantage of good weather! All in all a lovely weekend break.
Duncan
Great house in a great location. The house had everything you need for a relaxing break and is perfect for access to the dunes and beach with the village close by with fish and chips and a pub. Perfect place to get away from it all.
What an amazing house very roomy lots of space with a fantastic view form the conservatory and many other rooms and was the perfect place to stay everything was thought of to make the stay perfect From the little welcome pack to board games in the lounge to plenty of plates cups glasses. Cleaning items and dish washer tablets were all provided and the little extra touches that made this place stand out The location is amazing a short walk to the beach local pub fish and chip shop and various other places of interest garden was immaculate and very private Would highly recommend this accommodation for a relaxing break away

Drifters is just wonderful. Such a relaxing house, with immense sea views from the garden and the Conservatory. The hot tub was a bonus, and added to the holiday as a little luxury every evening to relax and watch the seascape and the numerous ships going past. Bedrooms and bathrooms a plenty and so much space for everyone. We would highly recommend this property for anyone wanting a quiet relaxing break. Wintertonosea is such a pretty village with a good post office, shop and pub.
Absolutely fabulous , cant fault it . a great family holiday cottage with great views and amazing walks from the doorstep . The beach is fantastic great for little ones . Plenty of space and everything you need . The photos dont do it justice . Would love to visit again .
We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Drifters, a wonderful comfortable and very well equipped house, in an outstanding location with fabulous views to the sea.
Beautiful house, everything top notch. Location great.

Fabulous property. Location is super for the beach and lovely walks. Walking towards Winterton and beyond is lovely. House is well appointed and comfortable. Loads of space. We would like to return in the summer because the patio hot tub and conservatory room are all great. Highly recommend.

We had an amazing time at Drifters. The house was beautiful, immaculately clean and very well equipped. It is very spacious, for a house that sleeps 8, this was perfect as we did not feel like we were on top of each other. Bedrooms were lovely and had really comfy beds. Excellent communication from the owner, I had a query prior to arriving and he responded very quickly and was really helpful. Finally, the location was AMAZING! The view from the house was unreal and no picture will do it justice. A walk down some steps and you are on a huge stretch of dunes, and beach access. We were so lucky that we got to see 100s of seals and pups, an amazing experience. The local pub is around 10 minute walk, the chippy just a little bit longer and a coop 5 minute drive away. Took around 25 mins to drive to Great Yarmouth. Overall, an excellent stay that we would absolutely consider booking again.
Property was spacious and exceeded out expectations, with lovely furnishings . Everybody said how comfortable the beds were with lots of room in the bedrooms , a very large lounge and tv , fantastic conservatory with lovely views of the sea . We all loved our stay and would love to come back again .
Nice house however would not rebook , as price I feel for next year is way over the top to be honest

While there'll be plenty to keep you entertained at Drifters itself, if you plan to get out and about and see some of what Norfolk has to offer, here are some of the nearby attractions you can enjoy during your stay. Please note that some of these activities and days out are paid and it's always a good idea to book in advance to secure your place where applicable.

Bewilderwood - NR12 8JW
about 10 Miles
Bewilderwood is a fun day out for the whole family located in the Wroxham area of Norfolk.  This imaginative adventure park has won awards and we think kids especially will love the characters and the magical tree houses. You can even book your ticket online and beat the queues by visiting their website where you can also view video clips of the park. This place is also the setting for the book 'A Boggle at BeWILDerwood', by local children's author Tom Blofeld.  Parents are not left out either as you're encouraged to take part and play alongside your children.
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park - NR32 4TZ
about 14 Miles
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park is an amazing 50 acres area of stunning coastal parkland and is packed with family friendly rides and attractions. This park is an excellent choice for families with children of varied ages as there are a number of small rides for the little ones as well as some adrenaline boosting white knuckle rides for teenagers. As well as rides the site hosts some fantastic shows including the ever popular Sea Lion and Parrot encounters. At Halloween, Christmas and Easter other themed shows can also be enjoyed.  The site also has a good range of places to eat and drink whether you are looking to spend a leisurely hour relaxing with a meal or just grab a quick snack.
Africa Alive - NR33 7TF
about 20 Miles
Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.
Dinosaur Adventure Park - NR9 5JW
about 24 Miles
This fun family day out has been well planned and we think is certainly worth a visit.  New for 2010 is the PrimEvil at Dinosaur Adventure.  Other fun activities include the Dinosaur Trail, Arachnophobia, the Raptor Races and the adventure play area.  The secret animal garden is also popular.  You can play a role in wildlife conservation and sponsor an animal if you wish.  At the moment if you sign up for their newsletter there is a chance to win a family ticket.
Sheringham Park - NR26 8TL
about 26 Miles
The National Trust Sheringham Park in Norfolk was designed by Humphry Repton and the book of original designs can still be seen. The park has many attractions including a viewing tower and a gazebo with amazing coastal views, wildlife trails which young children will love and an exhibition barn where visitors can learn the history of the park.
