About Heron

This stylish holiday pod is nestled amongst the trees on a family-run holiday park in North Norfolk. Sleeping four guests in studio-style accommodation, it’s the ideal base for a small family or a couple looking to explore the region’s sandy beaches and rolling countryside.

A 6-mile drive brings you to the vibrant seaside resort of Cromer, with its traditional shops and seafood restaurants. The North Norfolk Coast Path passes through the town, and you can follow it for 5 miles to the neighbouring resort of Sheringham.

Other popular walking spots include Holt Country Park and the National Trust estates at Blickling and Felbrigg (all within 10 miles). For an afternoon of retail therapy, head to the picturesque town of Holt (12 miles), renowned for its excellent array of independent shops, boutiques, and galleries.

Family attractions in the area include the North Norfolk Railway, Amazona Zoo, and Bewilderwood, all within 15 miles. The glamping pod enjoys a peaceful setting surrounded by trees, overlooking the on-site fishing lake.

Inside, the property is decorated in natural tones, creating a calm ambience, and features a collection of soft furnishings and cute accessories to make you feel at home. Along one wall is a kitchenette, and there’s also a breakfast bar where you can share mealtimes together.

After a day of adventure, sink into the sumptuous sofa to watch a movie on the Smart TV. Within the studio-style living area is a comfortable double bed and a set of bunk beds that sleep both adults and children.

Rounding off the accommodation is a refreshing shower room. Outside, unwind in your enclosed outside area, reviving weary limbs in the hot tub or toasting marshmallows around the fire pit.

You’ll also have a BBQ and furniture for al fresco dining in the summer months. A fishing permit is provided for the on-site fishing lake, and guests also have access to a shop and a children’s play area.

While there'll be plenty to keep you entertained at Heron itself, if you plan to get out and about and see some of what Norfolk has to offer, here are some of the nearby attractions you can enjoy during your stay. Please note that some of these activities and days out are paid and it's always a good idea to book in advance to secure your place where applicable.

Found a special day out near your cottage? Please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too!
Sheringham Park - NR26 8TL
about 6 Miles
The National Trust Sheringham Park in Norfolk was designed by Humphry Repton and the book of original designs can still be seen. The park has many attractions including a viewing tower and a gazebo with amazing coastal views, wildlife trails which young children will love and an exhibition barn where visitors can learn the history of the park.
Dinosaur Adventure Park - NR9 5JW
about 12 Miles
This fun family day out has been well planned and we think is certainly worth a visit.  New for 2010 is the PrimEvil at Dinosaur Adventure.  Other fun activities include the Dinosaur Trail, Arachnophobia, the Raptor Races and the adventure play area.  The secret animal garden is also popular.  You can play a role in wildlife conservation and sponsor an animal if you wish.  At the moment if you sign up for their newsletter there is a chance to win a family ticket.
Bewilderwood - NR12 8JW
about 12 Miles
Bewilderwood is a fun day out for the whole family located in the Wroxham area of Norfolk.  This imaginative adventure park has won awards and we think kids especially will love the characters and the magical tree houses. You can even book your ticket online and beat the queues by visiting their website where you can also view video clips of the park. This place is also the setting for the book 'A Boggle at BeWILDerwood', by local children's author Tom Blofeld.  Parents are not left out either as you're encouraged to take part and play alongside your children.
Bishops Boats Seal Trips - NR23 1RY
about 13 Miles
This is a really unique attraction running daily seal watching trips from the middle of March right through to the end of October.  The experienced skippers will lead you out on one of the traditional wooden boats where you will have the chance to see both common and grey seals.  If you love animals then this is one attraction not to be missed! They also do some boat trips combined with guides on dry land such as seal watching combined with a visit to Blakeney Point Nature Reserve, owned by the National Trust.  We think this attraction is excellent value for money as they keep their admission prices low.
Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens - NR21 0LN
about 16 Miles
if you and your family are interested in nature and wildlife then Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens is the perfect place for a day out. This beautiful area of national parkland is home to a huge range of common and rare birds from sparrows to Red Crowned Cranes and also has a red squirrel enclosure - part of a conservation programme and now home to a family of adorable squirrels. Other activities to enjoy at Pensthorpe include pond dipping and Landrover discovery tours. Pensthorpe also played host to BBC'S Springwatch in 2010.
Melsop Farm Park - NR20 3DT
about 25 Miles
We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.
