Sunnymeade Reviews

Nichola
We had a lovely stay at Sumnymeade It's great accomodation which suited our family perfectly. However, the main reason we chose the property was we like to have a games room. The pool table, which is in need of attention, it's still playable but has several holes and some pockets are out of line. We also tried to play one of the games provided but it was incomplete. These little details need sorting to enhance your stay!
Beautiful house had a lovely stay to catch up with old friends. The hot tub was superb.
We found Sunnymeade to be in a good location and spacious, well appointed. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out or all be together. All equipment worked and the hot tub and pool table were enjoyable. Local amenities were good.

Upon entering Sunnymeade ,we all said WOW. It was an amazing hallway. The house smelt fresh and was very clean throughout. This holiday home was very well equipped. We had a lovely carefree stay. A big thank you to the owners and the cleaning team. Babs x
A lovely large house in a pleasant village with all facilities and lots of internal flexibility. The fish and chip shop in the village is excellent, as is the Bure Valley railway which is less than 10 mins walk from Sunnymeade. Would definitely return, beds and bedding top notch and we all had a great three nights sleep.

A great place to stay with familyfriends. All the amenities you require and in a perfect location. We would definitely return!

Absolutely beautiful house, everything was great, would highly recommend. All the bedrooms were lovely, really comfortable beds....lots of little extras....tea, coffee, biscuits, cleaning products, toilet rolls, soap and handcream....hairdryers in every bedroom......Had lots of fun playing snooker..and going in the hot tub...plenty of parking.....Couldn't fault anything......

Really nice property but was way too cold, showers were luke warm to say the least and the oven smoked like crazy every time we turned it on setting off the fire alarms 5 times, the pot's and pans were somewhat dirty and had to be cleaned before we could use them as were some of the plates, we were probably a little more affected by all this as we were celebrating 2 x 60th Birthdays which meant we did stay at the house and not go out to eat & drink, lady in out building was a bit rude over parking and actually parked not in her designated places because we were unloading a van and said you can't park there move it we had no intention of parking there but it was easier to unload our food drink & provisions due to the difficulty of moving items across the shingle, a nice little hello and pointing out the parking restrictions would have been a lot better. Overall a nice place, but probably wouldn't return because of the issues above.
This was our 1st visit to Sunnymeade. When we arrived, there was a large secure fenced carpark with gates. To be honest it is an impressive house to be welcomed by. We immediately felt at home. The host gave us access an hour early which was good news as we had arrived before the check in time of 4pm. We were surprised to see that Sunnymeade had been updated before our arrival, the host had just renovated both bathrooms downstairs to en suites with showers on the ground floor. Both en suites are big, what a pleasant surprise, we had not expected that. We were also impressed to see Sunnymeade has had a new well proposition 2nd kitchen fitted next to the existing kitchen with an oven and hob, more than enough space needed to prepare food for our group. We were there with a handful of young guests and the games room was a welcome addition, football table, large TV and bean bags. Sunnymeade has great Wifi across the inside and outside of the property. Even when we relaxed in the Hot tub which can easily accommodate seven people, the wifi was available. Dining room with the pool table was convenient place, two large dining table and chairs for everyone to sit around the table. The living room with the large smart TV was nice place to hangout and relax. Sunnymeade is only few minutes safe walk from the Village shop, Pub and the Fish and Chip shop which is very good. Would we come back? Oh Yes, this place has been the best place for the money we paid and would definitely return.
The house was perfect for our group of adults and teens. We loved the pool table and hot tub and the lounge room was very comfortable. The kitchen was really well stocked with everything you would need to cook for large groups.
We had a lovely week at Sunnymede. The house was spacious and clean. The beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of space downstairs for 10 adults and 3 children. The kitchen was well equipped including large fridge and freezer. We appreciated the extra touches like the welcome hamper and bathrobes and lots of towels. Everybody loved it.

In such hot weather it was a shame that a lot of windows could not be opened in the evening to allow cooler air into the rooms. A man came around, and when we raised this he just said that the keys had been lost. For example, our room en suite double at front had the sun full on all morning, but only one small top opener would open. Our room was consequently baking. I had brought a fan, but I would have preferred to have fresh air in the evening. The rest of the house was very suitable for our group. We had fun in the hot tub and just about managed to squeeze around the tables indoor and out to eat. I cant speak for other rooms, but the one shelf in our ensuite with pot plants on was very dusty so I did not put my toiletries out. I instead put my bag on the floor. A clean shelf would be very appreciated for toiletries to go out on.

You could see that this Property use to be a Nursing Home. Appreciate Water pressures are what they are but the only decent shower to use in the property was the one downstairs. Certainly needs updating through the entire property, however the lounge area was very nice with TV and the only other TV was in the Games Room but could certainly do with another TV in the other Front Lounge. Kitchen was well equipped but then it would be as used to be a Nursing Home. Dining area OK but could really do with one table rather than 2 Mix Matched Tables, Chairs & Benches. Please take this as constructive criticism as Investment is indeed required and dated bathrooms and bedrooms really need to be updated and not a great cost. Same time next year property is asking for 2500.00 which really is not worth the money. I paid 1800.00 for this holiday to Celebrate my Wife's 60th Birthday with her family but could have got better value for money going elsewhere.
Very nice property with amazing Victorian features with a modern extension. Front parking area is more than ample and there is a ground level entrance round the side if the front steps are a bit much. The property itself is huge! Very easy to get lost and disorientated but you soon get the layout. The games room down the end of the property is perfect for keeping the little ones and young ones entertained, they connected their switch to the supplied TV and we didnt see them after that. All the rooms are spacious enough but not all of them have a ensuit showers but there is a shower in the downstairs hallway and the lower back bedroom has a bath. We did have a couple of issues out of the owners control and he was very easy to get hold of and offered any help he could! Issues were internet blackout and loss of electricity to the village. Both issues didnt last long luckily. The hot tub is an absolute dream! Can comfortably fit four people easily or tho is is designed for 7 but think thats a bit of a squeeze as you start to run out of spaces for legs but there are 7 seats. Overall we all 13 people really enjoyed our stay there and would happily return.
We had a lovely two night stay at Sunnymead for a Hen Do. The house is perfect for a group gathering with lots of big rooms to socialise in. The bedrooms were all clean and comfortable and having a toilet in each room is a real plus. Thank you
Michelle
Great stay would highly recommend!
When we arrived at the cottage it was disappointing to see in one of the double bedrooms the toilet and shower were not working and a sign on the door. We had received no communication about this prior to arriving or any compensation for not being able to use it. Secondly, we booked a long weekend stay from Friday night to Monday, and we found another note on the Hot tub informing us we could not use it until Saturday P.M. I feel we lost a night by not being able to use it. Thirdly, we found cobwebs in the rooms, on the walls and lights hanging from the ceiling. We could not access the property till 4pm on the Friday due to cleaning but I felt the cottage was not sufficiently cleaned! My last point is check out time was 9 am Monday morning, I rang the owner a week beforehand to request a later check out, he asked me to request again on the Sunday before we leave on the Monday, which I did message him only to receive a message back saying If I had known on Friday I could have changed it sorry which did not make sense as I had spoken to him! I explained the situation again only to receive a message at 639 a.m. the next day Monday basically saying if we do not vacate the property I will be charged for late check out I was upset, woken early by the message and confirmed we would leave by 9. At 710 a.m I received another message informing us that we could stay till 1030 a.m as the plumber would be arriving. This is not how i wanted to end my weekend away. Please understand my family and I enjoyed the cottage, it is spacious, football table, pool table and hot tub but there is a lack of customer service. I have stayed at previous cottages on a family break and the owners have been attentive, checking in with us to ensure everything is ok and meeting our needs. I feel after this occasion I would not stay here again.
Rachel
The property was clean, tidy and well presented. The house is absolutely beautiful and all our guests loved it! There was plenty of seating and it had everything we could have wanted to host. Our only small issues were that there didnt seem to be any separate recycling facilities and the outside bin was already full when we arrived. The key code was also not sent to us until 30 minutes after it said it would be despite calling and messaging the contact numbers that were sent to us. This would not stop us from booking Sunnymeade again!
Robert
We all had a fantastic time here, the children and adults loved the pool table, table football and hot tub. It was a lovely surprise to find tea bags, biscuits, and coffee maker, also dish washer tablets. Great location , not far from Norwich, Horsey beach, Sheringham and Cromer which we visited. Also local shop and post office in walking distance, very quiet village with nice walks around the area.
We had a superb stay over new year period, we were three families, all with children and the set up was great, the house is absolutely huge. The bathrooms were basic, but for 3 this is as expected. The hot tub and pool table were nice bonus!! Great location! We would definitely stay here again!
The house was beautiful! It was very warm and cosy when we arrived. We did have a small problem in the main lounge one evening when it got quite cold. We feel the showers and water situation was not great, no power and going hot and cold when having a shower. The dining table situation was not ideal and couldn't seat everyone properly. Also I think, although the pool table was a great asset it should be moved into the front sitting room, leaving the dining room with one big table. Generally we thoroughly enjoyed our stay though. Thank you
Sylvia
First I'd like to say we were very surprised this property only had a 3 rating as it is worth so much more. We were a party of 5 ladies who all share a passion for crafting. We have just come back from an amazing 5 night stay in this property. The house is absolutely beautiful and so well equipped. The only suggestion I would make on the kitchen equipment would be an addition of a hand blender and or a small food mixer, in the bathrooms one of these JML Hydro Wonder Grey mats they are hygienic and really are anti slip The hot tub was an added bonus for us all, can't tell you how much we enjoyed it. We had 1 problem whilst we were there in as much as we had a power dip one evening that did something to the outside light, I contacted the owner and they were there shortly afterwards to fix the problem 100 satisfaction. Really hope we'll be able to come again. Thank you.
Amanda
Excellent property for a gathering. This is the 2nd year that we have stayed at the property and all have thoroughly enjoyed it. The pool table has been used for countless hours again. The fact that every room has a toilet is a bonus. The owners are always helpful. The local 'recruiting Seargeant' pub is a must for Sunday lunch.
Raechel
Thank you so much for our stay at Sunnymeade. We had the best weekend. The house is so spacious and so beautiful. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked. Cooking for 12 was not an issue. The hot tub, pool table and games room were amazing. A true highlight for us. There was also Bluetooth speakers dotted around the property and lovely little amenities tea, coffee, biscuits, ice etc which was a lovely touch. The only small negative is beds werent the most comfortable, especially in the bunk bed room. Also the check out time is rather early but we requested a later checkout and we kindly given one which was great. Everyone had a lovely time and we are definitely considering coming back next year.
Spacious, comfortable house with added bonus of a pool table and hot tub. Great location, would definitely recommend.
This property is ideal for a large family or group. . there is everything that you need in the kitchen to cook with an added bonus of a dishwasher. The bedrooms are cozy with freshly laundered sheets . Large lounge .. dining area . Laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer . Jacuzzi which is emptied and refilled after every guest . Very central not far from the Norfolk broads and other areas of Norfolk .. Norwich a short drive away . We would certainly book this property again in the future .. Thank you Sunnymeade for a great stay .
Catherine
Plenty of space indoors though not so much outdoor space for the children. Clean and wellprovided with separate places to sit, play and cook. However we had some problems with equipment toilet cistern not working properly in twin room, broken small chair in kitchen, kettle too heavy to use easily causing one guest a scald and , as the weather was hot, no parasols in the garden or fans in the house.
Had a great time fabulous house. Thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub. Owners were very quick to resolve a couple of issues with a shower and EV charger. The only drawback was the 9am departure time with so many trying to get ready. We would definitely recommend staying at Sunnymeade and would certainly return in the future.
Couldnt have been happier with the house, it had everything we needed! Pool table and hot tub was a massive hit with the kids.. house was very clean. We are planning our next years visit already.

Attractions Near Sunnymeade

While there'll be plenty to keep you entertained at Sunnymeade itself, if you plan to get out and about and see some of what Norfolk has to offer, here are some of the nearby attractions you can enjoy during your stay. Please note that some of these activities and days out are paid and it's always a good idea to book in advance to secure your place where applicable.

Found a special day out near your cottage? Please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too!
Bewilderwood - NR12 8JW
about 6 Miles
Bewilderwood is a fun day out for the whole family located in the Wroxham area of Norfolk.  This imaginative adventure park has won awards and we think kids especially will love the characters and the magical tree houses. You can even book your ticket online and beat the queues by visiting their website where you can also view video clips of the park. This place is also the setting for the book 'A Boggle at BeWILDerwood', by local children's author Tom Blofeld.  Parents are not left out either as you're encouraged to take part and play alongside your children.
Dinosaur Adventure Park - NR9 5JW
about 8 Miles
This fun family day out has been well planned and we think is certainly worth a visit.  New for 2010 is the PrimEvil at Dinosaur Adventure.  Other fun activities include the Dinosaur Trail, Arachnophobia, the Raptor Races and the adventure play area.  The secret animal garden is also popular.  You can play a role in wildlife conservation and sponsor an animal if you wish.  At the moment if you sign up for their newsletter there is a chance to win a family ticket.
Sheringham Park - NR26 8TL
about 12 Miles
The National Trust Sheringham Park in Norfolk was designed by Humphry Repton and the book of original designs can still be seen. The park has many attractions including a viewing tower and a gazebo with amazing coastal views, wildlife trails which young children will love and an exhibition barn where visitors can learn the history of the park.
Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens - NR21 0LN
about 17 Miles
if you and your family are interested in nature and wildlife then Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens is the perfect place for a day out. This beautiful area of national parkland is home to a huge range of common and rare birds from sparrows to Red Crowned Cranes and also has a red squirrel enclosure - part of a conservation programme and now home to a family of adorable squirrels. Other activities to enjoy at Pensthorpe include pond dipping and Landrover discovery tours. Pensthorpe also played host to BBC'S Springwatch in 2010.
Bishops Boats Seal Trips - NR23 1RY
about 18 Miles
This is a really unique attraction running daily seal watching trips from the middle of March right through to the end of October.  The experienced skippers will lead you out on one of the traditional wooden boats where you will have the chance to see both common and grey seals.  If you love animals then this is one attraction not to be missed! They also do some boat trips combined with guides on dry land such as seal watching combined with a visit to Blakeney Point Nature Reserve, owned by the National Trust.  We think this attraction is excellent value for money as they keep their admission prices low.
Melsop Farm Park - NR20 3DT
about 20 Miles
We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.
Banham Zoo - NR16 2HE
about 24 Miles
This award winning wildlife attraction has much to offer both families and couples looking for a fun and educational day out.  You can discover a whole wild world of animals with over 1000 different animals from around the world. You will probably want to try and spend the whole day here so you don's miss out on anything.  Highlights include the amazing animals presentation, the birds of prey display and the feeding talks, all of which take place at set times of the day.  This attraction is fantastic value for money and highly recommended.  Their latest event is the Snow Leopard Club Naming Auction and there has recently been a baby giraffe born at the zoo.
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park - NR32 4TZ
about 25 Miles
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park is an amazing 50 acres area of stunning coastal parkland and is packed with family friendly rides and attractions. This park is an excellent choice for families with children of varied ages as there are a number of small rides for the little ones as well as some adrenaline boosting white knuckle rides for teenagers. As well as rides the site hosts some fantastic shows including the ever popular Sea Lion and Parrot encounters. At Halloween, Christmas and Easter other themed shows can also be enjoyed.  The site also has a good range of places to eat and drink whether you are looking to spend a leisurely hour relaxing with a meal or just grab a quick snack.
Africa Alive - NR33 7TF
about 28 Miles
Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.
