The Wood Shed Reviews

Beautiful setting and amazing accommodation. The Prosecco on ice and milk in the fridge was a lovely touch. Gorgeous scenes sitting in the hot tub as the snow came
Excellent host, stunning property, very comfortable, clean and homely. Highly recommend We will definitely be back Mark & Kerry

We booked The Wood Shed as we were planning a trip to Alton Towers for Scarefest. After a long journey from the north, we arrived and were greeted by Karl who was very welcoming and gave us a quick tour of the accommodation and instructions on how to use the hot tub etc. There was a bottle of prosecco on ice waiting for us and some fresh flowers which were a nice touch. The property was very clean and had great amenities for selfcatering, which we made use of each day of the visit. We took lunch with us everyday to the theme park and then cooked when back at the property. The shower was brilliant, very powerful but also had the option to switch the water to a rainfall. We made use of the hot tub a couple of times and really enjoyed it. We were even treated to some clear skies so had the chance to do some stargazing at night. In terms of it's location, it was ideal for our trip... out in the countryside, so very peaceful, but also only about 15 minutes drive from Alton Towers, so not too far to travel after a long day. Although we didn't have much time to spend in the local area, it looks like there is plenty to explore, so if we come back to the area again we would definitely choose The Wood Shed.
Alexandra
This is a beautiful little holiday home, the beds were so comfortable and the TV was modern and so easy to use. We had everything we needed to cook and clean with. The location is great and was easy for us to find yet so peaceful. To top it off the hot tub was clean and easy to use. The owner of the property was kind and welcoming and we felt we could message at any point if we needed to. Thank you! Would come again
We have had a lovely stay. Karl was very welcoming. The kitchen was really well equipped. The bed massive and very comfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean. The real gem was the decking area, with gas bbq, hot tub and seating area over looking a beautiful view. We would highly recommend this lovely little place.
What a little gem small, but very perfectly formed. The Wood Shed is very well equipped, very clean and attention to detail superb. Setting is very lovely with the most glorious sunsets. We had an extremely enjoyable stay and will definitely be back.
Nicola

We absolutely loved everything about our stay at The Wood Shedfrom the ease of locating the property thanks to the clear instructions in the user manual to the warm welcome we received from our host, Karl. The cottage is set in a peaceful location with incredible views Ill be sure to post picturesvideos to Google Reviews, since I cant do it here!. It was incredibly clean, cosy, and had everything we needed to feel right at home. Karl made us feel reassured that we could reach out to him at any time for advice or more information during our stay. When we arrived, we mentioned to Karl that the property and views looked even better than in the photosand he said thats something many guests have told him! Although we were initially unsure about the size of the hot tub from the pictures, we found it to be the perfect size for two averagesized adults. The gas BBQ grill was easy to useespecially after a kind demonstration from Karland it was such a pleasure to enjoy a freshly cooked BBQ while watching the luminescent sky and taking in the views after a long day of hiking. This was such a needed break from the fastpaced nature of city life. A real joy, and a place Ill definitely be recommending to friends and family!
My wife and I received such a warm welcome from Karl, who had thoughtfully prepared a chilled bottle of bubbly and preheated the hot tub, an absolute treat after a long journey! The Wood Shed is a fantastic base for exploring the Peak District. Its very comfortable and beautifully equipped with everything you could possibly need, and the view from the deck is simply stunning. We couldnt have asked for a more relaxing stay.
Alison
Superb place to stay whilst exploring the Peak District. Everything very clean, neat and the bed was very comfortable! The decking with the hot tub was great and the view also. Very private.Definitely recommend staying here.
Oliver
A lovely holiday cottage with all the amenities you could need for a short break. Cottage was warm, clean and very cozy and the hot tub was simply perfect. Karl was the perfect host greeting us on arrival and showing us the ropes of the cottage and its quirks. Only improvement I would recommend is to add a small shelf in the shower cubical to put toiletries on.
Absolutely stunning property. Everything you need is provided. As someone from a town, the views from the terrace are unbelievable. Lucky to have really nice weather so made use of the bbq. Thanks again Karl for all your assistance. Would definitely recommend this property 100.
Karl was a great host and the facility was fantastic in a beautiful quiet location with a great view from the hot tub and patio. Will definitely return and highly recommend.
Thanks so much for a lovely stay, prosseco and flowers a nice touch, just what we needed. Peaceful, wonderful surroundings and easily accessible to nearby attractions. The Wood Shed is perfect, thanks to Karl for his hospitality. Julie and Gary
One of the best properties weve stayed in within the UK with every amenity you would need for a short stay. Superb location which is central to a lot of local attractions. Overall we had a wonderfully comfortable and enjoyable stay and we will definitely be back! Loved the visits from the doggies throughout our stay. Thanks for being a great host!
An excellent proposition lead by a true professional in the industry. Karl has an immaculate understanding of the client experience and that is evident from top to bottom. The Wood Shed is a modern, sleek building with everything you need and more. We really enjoyed the small touches which included cleaning products and a full range of cutlery. Karl takes the time to personally introduce himself and show you around, meaning that you feel comfortable communicating with him and have an understanding of everything that the property offers. We will be back, do not doubt an experience at The Wood Shed, it is truly fantastic
Jessica
Karl was incredibly hospitable and great to chat with. The Wood Shed was immaculately presented throughout and the bed was very comfortable. The Wood Shed was also conveniently situated for lots of walking routes as well as being close to Ashbourne for the pubs and coffee shops. We had a lovely weekend getaway.
Graham
Karl was a joy, very personable and nothing seemed too much bother, he made our stay more pleasurable. The property itself was well appointed and there wasnt anything further that we could have wished for, there has obviously been a lot of thought into the customers requirements. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Wood Shed and will be returning whenever we get the chance.
Amanda
The cottage is fantastic, immaculate & cozy. There was everything we needed and more! Very warm welcome.
Wow, what an amazing short break we have had here. We stayed 2 nights in the woodshed and it was perfect. We where greeted and shown around by Karl what a top gent which was a lovely touch. There was a lovely bottle of prosecco on ice on arrival and milk in the fridge and they are really nice touches to have. The Woodshed has everything you need for a relaxing getaway and we can't fault any of it. We will definitely return.
Katharine
Beautiful Lodge in beautiful surroundings. Lovely to have the hot tub after a day exploring and the added novelty of Netflix which we don't have at home. Lovely touch with the prosseco in an ice bucket when we walked in and tea coffee and milk supplied. The only reason I have given 4 stars and not 5 is that we have stayed at 4 and 5 star hotels and always been supplied with toiletries and I think for the money that we paid which equated to 200 a night a shower gelbody lotion and shampoo would have been the icing on the cake. Also the curtain fittings tieback fittings in the living room were loose with the screws coming out of the wall. All in all to sit in a hot tub over looking open fields was wonderful and I would throughly recommend the Woodshed and we will at some point be returning.
We both had a very relaxing stay at The Wood Shed. The owners have thought of everything that you would need. The location is very central to many sites and attractions in Derbyshire. The hot tub especially was brilliant and the place was spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was great, and the TV's in both the lounge and bedroom were an added bonus. The place even has a dishwasher, with dishwasher tablets provided. We would higher recommend The Wood Shed and can't wait to return.
Carole
We have thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at the Wood Shed. The accomodation is compact but has everything you could possibly need. the king sized bed is very comfortable and the accomodation spotlessly clean. Very comprehensive information is provided by the hosts on the use of all appliances, walks, places to visit & eat in the area. The location was very peaceful and the added bonus of the hot tub was a lovely treat after a full days walking. The hosts are very friendly & helpful if needed, we had a small issue with the operation of the hot tub but a quick message to Karl and Helen responded right away and the issue was resolved. A very enjoyable short stay, would highly recommend.
Brandon

Sandra
A beautiful property in a fabulous location. I particularly loved the little touches that made us feel special the huge bed with plump pillows, the complementary Prosecco and the super clean hot tub and deck area. Everything was very high spec and nothing was too much trouble.

Brilliant host, very friendly and welcoming with a bottle of prosecco and flowers. The accommodation is very well equipped with great views. The hot tub was fantastic with a superb view of the sunset. Stunning place to stay, relax and escape the hustle and bustle! Fab location. Would highly recommend and looking forward to returning.
Beautiful cottage, we were so impressed from the moment we walked in. There was even a bottle of cold prosecco waiting for us! Facilities were brilliant, fully stocked kitchen and BBQ which we made great use of. Karl was really welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. We would definitely love to come back to The Wood Shed.

Had a lovely, relaxing stay in this great location. Property had everything that we needed and was very clean and cosy. Loved the very large comfy bed and that the hot tub had a canopy over it great when it rained. Will definitely return and recommend to family and friends.
Siobhan
We had a wonderful stay at the Wood Shed. Karl was a great host, very friendly and gave a great intro to the facilities and lots of good recommendations in his booklet. A perfect base for a day trip to Alton towers and exploring dovedale and Bakewell. We loved relaxing in the hot tub after our busy days out and a very comfy massive bed as well!
Beautifully compact with all modern facilities the owners have thought of every little detail regarding equipment etc. It was a shame the weather wasn't better to have used the outside facility more. Would highly recommend the accommodation.
We had a fantastic stay in this wonderful apartment. The property owner, Karl, was there to meet and greet us upon arrival and take us through all facilities including the hot tub. He was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and everything we needed was provided. I'd 100 recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing break in Derbyshire.
Christine
Really great accommodation and location. Nothing was too much for Karl the owner. Unfortunately neither he nor us had any control over the weather but we still had a lively stay.
Would highly reccomend! ! Great host and accommodation will be coming back soon
As a last minute booking we felt like wed struck gold! The Wood Shed is just stunning and is stylishly furnished with everything you could need for a wonderful holiday. It is perfectly situated at the base of the Peak District with so much to see and do nearby. Karl is the most helpful host and a lovely guy, he is clearly proud of what he has created and justifiably so. We saw Red Kites in the skies above and to our delight a Woodpecker and an abundance of Blue and other tits on the bird feeders we took with us. The views from the cottage are amazing. Just try it and see! We will be back! Thank you for sharing kindest regards Sally and Wal and for the fizz and flowers Ps Netflix was an added bonus on the Smart TVs we got to watch the much hyped Fool me once
