Woodthorpe Cruck Cottage Reviews

Wow! What an amazing property! Even better than the pictures. It was so warm and cosy despite it being midDecember that underfloor heating works wonders! The beds were comfortable and the hot tub such a joy to use at the end of the day. The cottage was well supplied and the owners had thought of everything they had even put up Christmas decorations and had left us a thoughtful welcome basket which was very much appreciated. We also walked to the end of the lane to refill our milk bottle at the vending machine which was fun! Would definitely recommend to others we didnt want to leave! Thank you for having us!

This is the second time I have stayed here for a girls trip its absolutely wonderful. So peaceful, cosy and plenty of useful provisions available! Thank you for another great holiday!
Elaine

Good points excellent location very quiet and peaceful, hot tub was fab and with it being covered made it usable regardless of the weather. Nice welcome pack. Sheets and towels clean and plentiful as was loo roll. Bad points track to the cottage approach is used as a dumping ground by the farmer so aesthetically not the best first impression, we didnt find the cottage particularly clean esp the bathroom, kitchen and sofas in the lounge. Cottage is getting a bit tired and could do with a spruce up. Large leak in the double bedroom window causing continuous dripping and a rotten window casing. Dont think the shower cubicle has had a proper clean in a while and the light pull cord was grim.

Such a lovely air b&b! Myself and my bridal party stopped here for a couple of days before my wedding and got ready here! It was so gorgeous! Everyone was quick to state how stunning it is! Very clean and the owners were extremely helpful if we needed anything! Thank you so so much for our stay
Great place for relaxation and some R&R. Hot tub was a god send after days exploring. Lovely place for a family get together
Very beautiful cottage in a lovely peaceful location. We had a relaxing few days and would have loved to have stayed even longer. Would definitely recommend. The welcome basket was a lovely touch and the milk station at the end of the lane was very cute and we used it lots
The only thing that let the holiday down was the hot tub, It was my first experience in one. It wasnt warm for our arrival, so had to ring them up and they got a electrician out, so we couldnt use it the first day. Then when we started to use it, the filter kept pooping out and floating round the tub which then caused scum all the time. My friends who use hot tubs all the time said they had never seen one so dirty.
We had a fantastic time. The house has lots of lovely features, a large kitchen with dining area and large lounge, lovely outdoor space with nice views. We enjoyed the hot tub and it was nice to have toilet and shower just as you go in the back door from the hot tub. The additional towels to use for the hot tub was a very nice extra, as well as the welcome pack. Having underfloor heating means we would be happy to also come for a holiday in the winter.
Wonderful stay. Great facilities. Just a couple of things 1. Could definitely do with a sign at the gate entrance. Everyone got it wrong the first time around even with instructions ! 2. Lock needed on main bathroom door . Had a couole of embarrassing moments! 3. More cutlery if possible 4. Instructions for oven use please Had an amazing time otherwise. Thank you so much
Beautiful house and area . ...could hear every movement made upstairs due to the creeking floorboards and did wake a few of our party up in the night if anyone got up to use the toilet.
We all had a wonderful time at the cottage, such a peaceful and relaxing time away. The hot tub was fantastic, as were all the other amenities. Thank you for hosting!

Absolutely amazing! The most beautiful cottage ever. We had such a peaceful stay, beautiful surroundings, a beautiful clean cottage. The owners were very helpful if we needed anything. I would definitely come back and recommend this cottage to others. Me & my family spent Easter weekend here, we had lots of fun, the hot tub was amazing, the cottage had everything we needed. Theres a beautiful pub down the road the hunloke arms which served 1010 food. Thankyou so much to the owners for being so helpful and for also providing a beautiful stay.
Georgina
This is a lovely cottage which is in a very private location. On the whole the cottage is wellstocked with most of the things needed for a week away. The hot tub was appreciated and used daily. The milk shed at the end of the driveway was amazing. Any issues were dealt with very quickly. Thanks Steve and team.
Richard
Had a really lovely stay at the cottage. Set back off road in a lovely location. The cottage was spotless and the owners provided a welcome pack on arrival. The lounge was very cosy with a log burner, which was very nice for the evenings. The kitchen diner was sizeable and had a big family table as well as another log burner .Upstairs there are 3 lovely bedrooms and a family bathroom. Finally the hot tub was fantastic and certainly well used by our family. We would most certainly stop at Woodthorpe Cruck cottage again in the future.Thankyou to the owners for a wonderful stay at your cottage.
Angela

Hannah
We had an amazing weekend, the cottage is beautiful and clean.
Samantha
Great secluded cottage, very clean and had everything we needed. Having the washing machine and dryer was a huge help and the hot tub was a bonus. Hope to return again.
We had a great stay in this lovely property. Visited lots of places from here including Chatsworth House, Heights of Abraham, Dovetale Stepping Stones, Mam Tor and Peak Wildlife Park. The cottage was well equipped, very comfortable and the hot tub was great after a busy day. The welcome box was also a lovely addition. Just remember to take a shaver adapter for shaver or electric toothbrush. Luckily we took manual brushes too. Would definitely return if visiting the area again or recommend to friends and family.
We have just returned from a lovely weekend stay in this beautiful house. We have had such an amazing weekend celebrating our birthdays, so much so we have just rebooked to return next year. Cannot thank Steve and team enough, lovely welcome basket, house is beautifully restored and has lovely finishing touches and everything you need is there. Lots of laughs in the hot hub, can't wait to return next year!

We would highly recommend this cottage. Beautiful property with a secluded location and lovely views. The thoughtful little extras from the owners were very much appreciated. Thank you.
Had a really lovely stop. ..easy to find...Great views and walks...fully recommend especially with the hot tub....very central to explore...
We had a fabulously chilled weekend away at Woodthorpe Cruck. The welcome hamper was amazing, and everything was really clean. Loved being in the country side. Would highly recommend.
Spacious rooms, serene locale and ideally located for activities for the whole family. Lumsdale falls, Matlock park and Heights of Abraham were highlights of our stay. Fresh breads and cakes on offer at the quaint vending machine system at the entrance to the property. Forgot kids' TV connector, which the hosts kindly agreed to dispatch via mail!! Amazing experience and highly recommended!
Steven
Lovely place and surroundings, the squeaky 1st floor could do with being looked at. And the twin room roof light would benefit from a blackout blind.
Great stay at this lovely property. Good facilities and nice little touches provided like fresh bread and cake on arrival. Beautiful and peaceful location.
This is a brilliant booking. The cottage is gorgeous, and a great location. Close enough to walk to the local village and a short drive to the town for shops and lots of walks around aswell as a drive into the peaks. Lots of space and room in the cottage to be comfortable without feeling on top of each other. We are looking at going back again next year.
Stuart
Great property but would really benefit from a sign at the bottom of the lane as both us and the taxis found it extremely difficult to find.
Alaynia
Fantastic short break from start to finish. The setting was idyllic , the cottage was beautiful , great facilities. Cant wait to return.
Shannon
Amazing place, highly recommend
Jennifer
Lovely cottage equipped with everything we could need in the kitchen. Great use of the hot tub, robes would be a great addition. Perfect location for both local walks or a short drive and your in the peaks.
Debbie
Absolutely lovely cottage, everything there you could possibly need, lovely ... Absolutely lovely cottage, everything there you could possibly need, lovely views, in the middle if no where, very rustic with wooden beams, beds extremely comfy and the hot tub was fab, will definitely be returning x
Absolutely amazing accomadation, could not fault and would definitely recommend
Kristina
Well equipped and well appointed cottage for a group of 6. Lovely kitchen and furnishings, plenty of crockery and utensils. We had pizzas delivered one night, and got a taxi there and back to a pub no problem. Hot tub and towels very nice. Gorgeous rural location. The only downside was the terrible smell emanating from the downstairs wet room has been mentioned on previous reviews This rendered that room unusable for us, so all 6 had to use the upstairs bathroom. Otherwise a nice weekend stay
Beautiful location and a very well equipped house. Hot tub was big, and the house was lovely and warm. Although the house is surrounded by fields and feels very private, it is only 6 minutes drive to a big supermarket.
We had such a wonderful stay at Woodthorpe Cruck Cottage, it's super cosy with tons of home comforts included we definitely overpacked! The welcome package was a fab touch and so thoughtful. The beds are also really comfy, we slept like logs. The kitchen and utility room is well stocked and every small detail is thought of. The location is peaceful and secluded, although supermarkets are just a short drive away for grabbing any essentials. We also had a lovely afternoon tea at Stretton Hall Farm nearby I'd definitely recommend stopping by! The only small downsides was the underfloor heating was a bit too warm, even on the lower setting we ended up opening the windows and doors a couple of times not exactly a big issue at all. There was also an occasional sulphurlike smell from the sink and shower drains, but we put this down to the rural location. Overall, we'd not hesitate to visit again in the future and would highly recommend the cottage to others.
Rachel
Great secluded position, beautiful cottage more than adequately equipped for our party of six. Local walks on the doorstep all in all a fabulous stay and a cottage to which we will return
