About 1 Royal Oak Cottages

Enveloped by the picturesque Shropshire countryside lies this endearing end of terrace cottage, perfectly positioned for enjoying the plethora of walks and cycle routes in the area, as well as being within striking distance of the market town of Shrewsbury. Offering bags of character from the outset, 1 Royal Oak Cottage has been designed with a family in mind, boasting all the modern conveniences required for a self-catering getaway, whilst retaining many original features.

Enter into the red brick property and be welcomed into the sitting room, where the exposed beams frame the open fire, which is awaiting to be lit during the winter months to set a tranquil ambiance as you flick through the channels of the Smart TV or perch at the bay window to watch the world go by. Step through into the kitchen/diner, where the character beams seamlessly blend with the contemporary kitchen units, housing all the essentials to cater to your culinary delights, as well as a dishwasher to serve as a helping hand and a handy washing machine to freshen up any belongings after a day’s walk.

Accompanying the space is the dining table, where you and your loved ones can settle down for meals, pop open a bottle of fizz or while away fun-filled hours playing board games brought from home, whilst the second open fire gently fills the room with warmth. Take the stairs and unpack your bags in one of the two bedrooms, both featuring beautiful original floorboards, pretty views across the village and served by a lovely, family bathroom with a shower over bath.

Here, you can choose between a wonderful double bedroom with a feature fireplace and an impressive exposed brick wall, highlighting the history of the property and a twin bedroom, which is perfect for young children. For the evenings where you do not feel like cooking, find the local pub serving food just moments away or travel a mile up the road to Longden, where you will find Tankerville Arms pub, as well as a shop for picking up any last minute essentials.

1 Royal Oak Cottages Reviews

A beautifully maintained property. Full facilities to make it a relaxing few days. Secure garden for doggy visitors as well. Only issue which is out of owners control is road Cottage sits on. Cars driven at high speed through village so recommend reverse park on drive way to allow view when leaving property. Other than that would definitely book again.

Lovely place to stay but a couple of tweeks would help. The hot water runs warm for a few moments, then goes cold, then warm again, then cold etc. Would be nice if a few more knives, forks and spoons. Loads of info about area and great tv and games.

Our 2nd visit, to a cottage that meets our every need. Clean and comfy and we can just step in and feel at home. So convenient for the beautiful towns, eateries and many miles of gorgeous Shropshire countryside. Just sorry that we could only take a 3 night break, but appreciate that the owners will welcome even shortbreak visitors. Longer visit next time !
A lovely, cosy cottage, very spacious with a great kitchen and dining area. Wifi was brilliant and a bonus having Netflix. Great selection of games, books for a rainy day, especially if you have children. Pub just two minutes away, with an excellent menu and friendly owners. The cottage is a short drive to a variety of great places to visit. The stairs in this property, would be challenging for small children or anyone with mobility issues. However there is a downstairs toilet as well as one upstairs, so it limits the stair climbing. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Absolutely tiptop in every way. All amenities, beds, towels, seating, white goods in kitchen, wifi etc of the highest quality and the hosts had provided everything you could possible need for a really comfortable and luxurious holiday. Many thoughtful extras for children like crayons and board games, pamphlets for tourers, books for readers or explorers, and a little welcome pack. Well done, these host !!
Charming cottage in a pleasant location friendly, lively country pub right opposite! Nice touch having the Christmas tree up, for guests, thanks! Only minor thing I would suggest, is maybe include a mop & bucket, at cottage, please? Helps clear up muddy paw prints, this time of year!
Very nice cottage, clean and well kept. The welcome pack was a very nice thought. The only couple of slight moans we had was that the road outside the cottage is 30 mph but most vehicles seem to travel much quicker and the Red Lion pub 100 yards down the road does not allow dogs in the pub or the beer garden which was a disappointment but one I am sure they will come to regret, hopefully.
Nice very old cottage, tidy park your car in front of the garage, but no lights on over night as security, only on a senser ! ! ,bit of a smell from the chimney, soot smell, maybe needs cleaning, otherwise good plenty of room down stairs ,kitchen dining room, open plan, with a separate front room, take care holiday makers on the roads bit narrow, people walking their dogs etc ,and people riding their horses.
The key collection safe is at the rear of the property and this is not stated. The location is down as a gps coordinate which we are not familiar with.easier to say first house on right entering from north or last house on left from the south.the heating was programmed to come on at 6.00am far too early for most on holiday.Hedges either side of car access are too high for safe exit. All the above are constructive comments and did not deter from our enjoying the property Also if you are taking a dog the pub over the road is not dog friendly in fact they dont want them anywhere near the pub not even in the garden

A cute cottage with a spacious kitchendiner. A nicely shaded table and chairs in the garden. It was great to have the garage to store our bikes. We had a lovely week exploring scenic Shropshire on foot and by bike. The very friendly staff at the Red Lion pub almost opposite served very reasonablypriced and tasty meals.

Lovely accommodation, very comfortable. Great outside area as well as a lovely interior. Well situated for walks, visiting Shrewsbury and other local attractions. Owners provided a really thoughtful welcome pack which was very appreciated. Would recommend.
